The Namkhan hotel garners praise for its cleanliness and a wide array of amenities that cater to both adventure-seekers and those in search of relaxation, according to guest reviews. Its spacious and well-appointed rooms are a hit among travelers, as is the service, with staff members recognized for their attentiveness and hospitality, despite occasional language barriers.
While the peaceful ambiance is occasionally interrupted by noise, some guests feel that the experiences offered may not justify the higher price point.

Hotel's Favourite
From the moment we arrived at the Namkhan ecolodge we felt like we had arrived in a safe heaven. A little paradise that we had the pleasure of calling home for some days.
After a long trainride and a rather dusty ride in a tuktuk, the friendly hosts of the ecolodge welcomed us with a refreshing cold guest towel and a homemade drink. We felt taken care of like we were honored members of their family, and that feeling hasn't gone away.
We had booked the Royal Food Experience, and as such were welcomed in our beautiful suite with a bottle of bubbles, and later a cocktail. From a dreamy private BBQ on the beach, to a tour around their ecogarden followed by a private cooking workshop, to a delicious tasting of some of the flavorsome foods Laos has to offer - it was absolutely terrific, and the only downpart is that it came to an end ;-)
A very special memory that I'll be taking with me is how the cooks baked a birthday cake for my husband, and surprised us with that during breakfast on our little terrace. The feeling I still experience is that every single one of the people who work at Namkhan did so with so much kindness and interest for the guests that they almost felt like friends (who happened to assist us with everything and anything we asked for, and brought us so many lovely drinks and bites ;-))
I absolutely, one-hundred percent recommend anyone to visit the ecolodge (and book the Royal Food Experience). If you like the Netflix documentary 'Down to Earth with Zac Efron', then you get a chance to experience it yourself at the Namkhan.

Stayed at one of the explorer tents that comes with your own private bathroom. The tents were amazing, very nicely decorated and had all you would ever need. Definitely a unique glamping experience. Beds are big and comfortable and each explorer tent had a beautiful outdoor area to sit and relax in. The tents were raised on wooden platforms and ours overlooked the rushing Nam Khan river.
The ecolodge is slightly out of town but I think they do provide transport into town. It's a place to relax and chill so there's really no need to go into town. There were lots of activities for the kids including riverside BBQs, horse riding, kayaking, tubing and they also had a free outdoor movie night whilst we were there.
The onsite restaurant caters for western and local fares which was sufficient without being outstanding. There's also no Wifi in the tens (only at reception and restaurant area) which was a nice way to unplug and spend time as a family.
Being an ecolodge, there's no A/C which I imagine would get very hot and sticky during the hot and rainy seasons. However, we went during the cool season and a fan was sufficient.

The resort is charming, quiet and peaceful.
I stayed in Explorer Tent. The tent is adorable and convenient; even the bathroom & toilet are isolated from the tent but just 3 step walk. We can sit in front of the tent and enjoy the beauty of the NamKhan River.
There are many activities, but the most highlighted are exploring the Organic Farm in the morning and continuing with the healthy breakfast at The Farm Table restaurant, which overlooks the NamKhan River. It is a small buffet line but high-quality food with fresh salad from the garden. We can do tubing and kayaking in the afternoon with clear water.
There is a yoga class available also. They will do it at the yoga platform near the river, but it was a pity I didn't have time to join it.
The staff are amiable and willing to help.
The location is good, just 15 minutes from Luang Prabang Airport and the night market, where we can explore the need to find some traditional food and shopping.
I love to exercise. Luckily that they have a small gym and playground. Even though the gym does not have much equipment, it is more than enough for a workout.
I will be back again soon!

After randomly running into the most affable receptionist Phout (and her dog Bacon), the encounter set off a chain of cosmic events that brought me and a close group of friends to celebrate my 50th birthday at this fabulous property.
A stunning property yes but Phout took our visit to another level! She was always incredibly responsive (we had a million questions/requests), very thorough, and generally just a joy to chat with. Also a big shout out to Saita and the rest of the team. They were always ready to assist during our 5 day stay even though they were running light on staff (as is everyone at the moment). They spoiled us rotten by delivering everything we needed straight to the villa.
The Art Villa was everything and more. It was quiet, private, and there was so much space for us and our dogs. The room was well appointed with a comfortably soft bed/pillows (not usual in Asia). The separate kitchen (red building) and outdoor dining table made entertaining so much easier. Highly recommend splurging on the villa to have a peaceful slice of the property all to yourself. We also enjoyed opening the front gate to be greeted by dogs, goats or the occasional neigh of the horses.
Oh and let's not forget the food! Everything we had on the menu was really tasty. No need to ever leave the property! The prices were VERY reasonable and everything was fresh. A great mix of local and international choices including vegetarian and vegan options as well.
We're excited to head back and check out the glamping tents but even more excited to reconnect with such a lovely team of people. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for making my day so special and for taking such good care of us and our friends.

Overall an excellent experience for the whole family and with our friends thanks to the beautiful environment, wonderful commitment and help of all the staff (including the manager), and high quality accommodation (Namkhan/Farm suites). We would recommend it without doubts, especially for a family or friend trip. Plenty of activities were proposed everyday and special ones for the end of the year which created a very festive environment. We went with 2 babies (below 2yo) and the staff always tried to make us feel as comfortable as possible. Reaching LPB is easy (15min max) and around 20min to the train station so the location is really convenient.

Its very difficult to express in words, it was amazing, unique will be understatement! I split my stay into Tent with private bath room and a room. I will recommend staying in Tent, very comfortable, on the banks of Namkhan river. You can relax outside your tent on comfortable chairs and look at the river.
Best part, there is no internet and TV in tents or rooms, so best time to really relax and revive your love of reading or indulge in many activities provided, such as Yoga, Horse Riding, Outdoor Gym, Sunday Movie Night or splash in a outdoor pool.
All fruits, vegetables are fresh, organic and grown at their own garden.
Complimentary shuttle service is provided to/from the town.
Only two suggestions, since internet is only at the reception and restaurant, it has to be with good speed. At times, there is not net, also, only one water bottle is kept in the tent/room(can be refilled again) but its not enough, atleast 2 bottels to be kept.
Staff is very friendly and helpful, I would like to mention Phout, who works at reception, she was very helpful. I would like to. ome again!

Dear Vikas, A big thank you for sharing your experience on Tripadvisor. I am very sorry that we didn't have the chance to met in person during you stay. Your comment reveals that you have appreciated everything that NamKhan wishes to offer its guests, from the activities offered to the quality of the products served as well as the ecological and social aspects respected by the property. We are delighted to read you and to know that we did met your expectations. Miss Phout is indeed a very good head receptionist as well as all our other employees who do a great job in welcoming our guest at NamKhan Ecolodge. We would like to thank you for your suggestion about the bottle water refill, this is a good and easy idea for us to set up to add one more bottle for our guest. Concerning internet we already have 4G and take the most expensive package that exists in Laos. Unfortunately the village where we are is very underserved, the internet provider works very poorly despite a quality membership to their package. We hope in the coming years that the village will be better served and that the network problems will be solved. As you mentioned, however, this will allow us to reconnect with nature, meditation, yoga and return to our roots, as our ecolodge wants to do. We hope to have the pleasure of serving you again at NamKhan ! In the meantime, we wishes you pleasant travels ! Kind regards, Ms Saita Kiatikhema Ecolodge Manager

Absolutely wonderful. The staff and customer service levels are amazing. The farm room was gorgeous with beautiful furnishing. The restaurant served very tasty food in a lovely setting. For me, the highlight was lazing around the wonderful swimming pool under the bamboo listening to the birds and watching the butterflies. A stunning location by the Namkhan river with lots of bamboo huts sorted around for chilling out. I loved the guide walk around the farm and the guide was lovely. One of the best places I have stayed in ages.

Dear Macca, It is so rewarding to read a review such as yours. We are very happy to read you and note that you loved our staff and customer service as well as our pool bar area surrounded by our tropical garden. As you noticed, our rooms are all furnished with a home-made interior and woodwork by our carpentry workshop. It is all hand-made from wood furnitures to bamboo ones for our guest to enjoy a peaceful ambience, connected to the nature and lao lifestyle stay. Our Farm tour is one of the best tour we offer for you to understand the concept of our eco-resort and our farm to table restaurant. Its is with great pleasure that we see that you have loved it as well as our tour guide. Thank you very much once again! We look forward to welcome you back. Kind regards, Mrs Saita Kiatikhema Ecolodge Manager

It's a stunning setting if you like nature (with bugs and all). The Staff here were just so friendly. All of them, front desk and restaurant. The location is 15-20 mins from town and there is a free shuttle but only twice a day. Otherwise it is $10 each way for a ride. The pool area was not very welcoming! It's small, the bar was not operational in July and is a bit untidy but this may be different in high season. We were in the explorer tent and were a bit surprised they were not air conditioned. This was not obvious at the time of booking but as I look closely now it says just a fan. That said they experimenting with implementing AirCon and let us the 1 available which was nice.

If I had known what a wonderful place the Namkhan Ecolodge would be, I would have stayed longer! The hospitality we received from everyone, especially Lan, Alexis, Onsy and the amazing restaurant team, made us feel so welcome throughout our time at this most lovely resort. We stayed in a luxurious Namkhan tent and loved everything about it— the deck overlooking the river, the large, well-equipped modern bathroom, the lighting, and listening to the river from our comfy bed.
The grounds are perfectly maintained and include two pools, an outdoor gym, a play area for children, a huge organic garden, a beautiful yoga shala, and several spots just to sit and enjoy the river. But the unexpected and deeply enjoyed pleasure was the restaurant where we ate both breakfast and dinner during our stay. The freshness and tremendous quality of the food was among the best of our five week trip through Southeast Asia. The chefs are excellent; so much care is put into every meal. The wine selection is well priced and excellent.
We took advantage of several of the activities Namkhan Lodge offers. The kayaking was particularly fun, thanks to Mick, and we also loved the cooking class, sunset boat ride and daily massages. Every activity was worth so much more than the price.
We only wished we’d spent our whole time while in Luang Prabang at this property. We moved to stay in town after night three, and we missed our tent on the river instantly. We can’t wait to return someday soon and will most definitely plan a much longer stay.

We are a French Japanese family and stayed at NamKhan Ecolodge for 4 night with 3 children aged 8 and 11 years old.
There are lots of activities for children (gym, giant chess, swimming pool, a lot of nature, play area for children, river to practice ricochets, rafting, yoga, etc). The lodge is along the river. It is so peaceful here, yet children could make the noise they wanted as there is plenty of space.
The lodge has a farm and they grow their own food here: it was nice to visit and play the game « what is growing here? » with the children.
Bedrooms: we had 2 rooms next to each other. Very clean, simple yet tastefully decorated. The staff is very helpful and kind.
It is a twenty minutes ride to the city centre, but with the app LOCA we had no difficulties to book taxis to pick us up and bring us back. The lodge can also arrange transportation.
There are lots of activities for children (gym, giant chess, swimming pool, a lot of nature, play area for children, river to practice ricochets, rafting, yoga, etc). The lodge is along the river. It is so peaceful here, yet children could make the noise they wanted as there is plenty of space.
