Victoria Xiengthong Palace is lauded for its spotless cleanliness and warm atmosphere that elegantly combines traditional charm with contemporary comforts. Nestled in a tranquil yet central location, guests are delighted by the easy access to attractions and the serene river views.
While the hotel's offerings are deemed good value by many, thanks to thoughtful perks, some guests feel it may be slightly overpriced. The spacious rooms with beautiful views receive high marks, and the service is consistently praised for its attentive and helpful staff, although a few guests suggest the amenities could benefit from an update.

Detailed Reviews
We spent 5 nights at this charming hotel and felt totally at home. Though the staff speak little English, they are very helpful and and attentive and somehow know what you want. We liked the location since it is on the Mekong and close to cafes and bars and good spas (Firangi Pani). Good value for money.
This would have been a full 5 star property had they designed the hotel in a way to accommodate a pool instead of the water body they have. The twin rooms are small but the King room and the suit are good size with a sit out. Our group had one of each room and the only couple not satisfied with the room was the one who got the twin.

We were upgraded to Mekong Suite. This room is huge and overlooking Mekong River. At first, as the room is facing to the main street, I was afraid it would disturb my sleep. In fact, it was not. It was quiet at night. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. However, they forgot our complimentary "airport pick-up" (as we booked the room directly). After we told them, they offered us the airport drop-off. This is the "plastic-free" hotel and they try to minimise the use of plastics, so they don't offer toothbrushes, combs etc unless the customers request. We had no problem at all.

The VXP was an amazing surprise for us, the personal gaves a warm welcome before leading us to our nice room with view on the river.
The heritage architecture of the hotel, though partly newly built, projects you immediately in a relaxing and elegant mood giving a glimpse of how the old colonial days might have looked like. It's located in the old side of the town, far enough but not too much from the more bustling streets of the center.
Breakfast is kind of small but very good, especially the freshly baked sweet coconut balls.
Rooms are nicely decorated with big terraces to chill indoors during your stay.
The morning alms by the monks take place just on the backside street infront of the hotel lobby.
Price is more than fair for the level you get, especially compared to other facilities we checked in the same area.
Only thing that disappointed us, but mostly because we didn't check carefully, is that the pool is not for swimming but just decoration :)

We stayed only for a night and the hotel was nice enough to upgrade us to a suite. The rooms are gigantic spanning over 2 stories with a living area downstairs and a pool like jaccuzi at the back that opens up into a garden like space. Upstairs had the bedroom and bathroom including a beautiful balcony overlooking the yard. The bathroom also had a great bath tub with view of Xiengthong Temple.
Though the rooms were large and spacious, we felt it lacked a little bit of functionality as there were no taps or basins downstairs which made it difficult if you needed to wash your hands or foot during rainy times (and pi mai when we went).
The rooms are clean and nice decorated and good amenities. The WiFi was also very good.
During the time that we went, the hotel was very quiet and had very few guests. It was difficult to find staff though when you did find them, they were very friendly and helpful.
The breakfast wasn't the best. Food was left cold and given the amount of guests, perhaps it would've been better to have an a la carte menu instead of a buffet.

At the time I step into the room, I suddenly felt in love with it because of the lime grass smell. It’s so “lagom”, not too little, not too much. Then, it’s the room. The wooden floor is clean and shinning. The smell of bed and bath cloth is refreshing too. At first, I just think that the hotel has a good architecture. But then, I walked to night market and old street, I realized that it’s traditional design of Laos house. It’s so beautiful. Besides, the restaurant has a beautiful view to MeKong river. You must see the sunset here. It’s so peaceful and has a sense of slow living. Oh! Besides, the laundy is good too. They take cloth in morning and when I come back in the evening, the cloth is ready and oh my god, it smell so good. Highly recommend this hotels when you come to Luang Prabang.

Dear Ms Ha, It was a pleasure having you stay with us. We appreciate your kind words about your stay. I am absolutely thrilled that you left with such fond memories, and still felt enough fervor to express your thoughts on TripAdvisor. It is brilliant to read that you particularly enjoyed the hotel room and found our staff to be very polite and helpful. My team works remarkably hard to deliver a genuinely warm and friendly service, so it really means a lot to us to have you mention that we perfectly achieve this. I very much hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Victoria Xiengthong Palace in the near future. Best regards, Nguyen Hoang Tri Resident Manager

This is a lovely hotel in a quiet part of town on the banks of the Mekong River. Actually most parts of town are quiet ! We had a comfortable palace room overlooking the river. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and arranged for a motor bike hire to be brought to the hotel.
Unfortunately my luggage had been left behind in Vienna on my long haul flight to BKK and was delivered three days later to LP airport. The hotel at no cost laid on a car to take me to the airport to pick up the luggage.
I had one main grouse about the booking arrangements. I made my booking on Booking.com at $90 per night for the room and breakfast. When I arrived at the hotel there was a large notice offering a room rate of $60 including airport transfers and bike hire. So I guess the moral for travelling in Laos is to contact the hotels directly to ask for a local price. What happened slightly "stuck in the throat".

The hotel grounds and rooms are very well done. Everything looks new and is very well maintained. The location is very central, right next to the river in the historic district. There was some miscommunication between Agoda and the mgmt and when we checked in they put us in the basic room instead of the villa with the jacuzzi that we booked, but the staff was very accommodating and moved us to the bigger room quickly. Breakfast buffet every day and airport transfer at the end of our stay were included in the booking price. The staff was very helpful in arranging everything.

The hotel is centrally located and is on the early morning procession route, which meant I could sleep later. The hotel is a jewel and very reasonable.
The hotel manager went above and beyond to assist me since I booked my visit on short notice as my travel plans shifted at the start of the pandemic. I cannot thank you enough for all of your help to arrange my tours.
My room was beautiful. The hotel has tons of thoughtful touches. The breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend the property.

As one of Victoria's hotel chains, this place has bold characteristics of Indochina in the 1900s. When I came here, I felt like I was returning home, very familiar, gentle and peaceful. We stayed in both room types, garden view and river view. Both are great. The dark color scheme and almost wooden everything made me feel like I was lost in an old place of the 1900s, where I could escape from the current oppressive time.
This place used to be where the king used to live, so every moment, every corner here makes us feel like we are lost in an ancient palace. Above all, there is peace in the soul, like being in harmony with the atmosphere in Louangphabang.
Needless to say, the staff are very enthusiastic, friendly and hospitable.
The hotel always smells of lemongrass and a little bit of incense and cinnamon, they make all my worries disappear.
The service here is also excellent, there are always detailed instructions about famous tourist destinations around from the receptionist or from the instruction sheet placed on the table in each room.
There is always a welcome drink and towel so you can leave your worries behind as soon as you arrive.
When you check in, there will always be a warm welcome from the hotel GM and a small gift from the hotel such as fruit or local specialties.
If you are a photography lover, the hotel is also an ideal location for many photo ideas. It will be a chill corner in the middle of the garden, or a nostalgic photo of the view from a high balcony or a melancholy photo of meditating next to the fish pond.
Everything is wonderful, thank you hotel for giving me unforgettable experiences here!

Had a wonderful 4 night stay at the Victoria Xiengthong Palace Hotel in Luang Prabang. Excellent location on a quiet street adjacent to Wat Xiengthong with Mekong River views from the restaurant and proximity to the Night Market, Phousi Hill and many restaurants and cafes. We had a beautiful and very specious room (may have been given a complementary upgrade), which included separate sleeping and lounge/reading areas, a huge bathroom and a terrace over-looking a beautiful lotus pond. The aircon was quiet and powerful and the shower water pressure was excellent. Complimentary breakfast was very good. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Overall a great value. Would stay here again were we to return to Luang Prabang.

Dear Elvira L,
Thank you for your message!
As we are in an area protected by UNESCO World Heritage regulations, and as close as we are from one of the most revered temple in the country ( Wat Xiengthong), i am afraid we are not allowed to have a swimming pool in our hotel.
Please feel free to let us know if you have any more questions,
