This is a small guest house(advertised as a Boutique Hotel)located about a km from the river. There are about 14 rooms in two structures. The woodwork is fantastic Lao-French design. There is one doubleroom on the upper floor with balcony which is nice. Rooms are fairly small but come with a queen size bed which is comfy, cable TV and in room safe. Air conditioning and wifi was good. Breakfast was excellent and served on the balcony outside the room. Eggs to order and fresh juices and fruits including large pancakes. Complimentary coffee and tea is provided thru the day but you need to request. The rooms feel a bit dimly lit and had they used normal lights instead of white ones it would have given the room a warmer look. As other guests have pointed out, noise could be a factor especially those rooms facing the road.

What was really disappointing were the bathrooms which were small, with no bath curtains, dimly lit and had a constant smell of sewage. The hot water and pressure was very good and one could soak in the tub.

Service was good and the guest house is managed by a Vietnamese gentleman who is very accommodating and helpful.

This could be truly boutique if they upgrade their bathrooms and add more greenery and trees around the property.
Good for a short stay.

We hoped out of the tuk tuk at Central Back Packers and went for a wander looking for a good, reasonably priced place to stay, and we by chance came across this really charming little place. This has been the highlight of my trip thus far. The rooms are impressively constructed with dark wood paneling and beautiful high ceilings. The staff are so adorably sweet, kind and helpful you almost want to hug them every time they show up to your room offering a complimentary cold drink when they see you trudge in from a long hot day of exploring. The rooms are super stylish, immaculately clean, and constructed with the old style architecture in mind. The included breakfast was really great. What a great discovery. We will definitely be back. Thank you Ming for treating us so well, and providing the best service in Laos. My only tiny piece of advice would be to avoid doing the tours which involve elephants, as enslaving these majestic and incredible animals in such a situation is cruelty beyond comprehension. Stick to the waterfalls, trekking, cycling, kayaking and boat rides (and just wandering around this fabulous city).

And visit the bar next door when it opens, which will be very soon. Had a great chat with the owner as he made the finishing touches to his new business venture. I can't wait to come back and see it in action.

I found the staff at this hotel very attentive and only too happy to help where possible. They do a free pick up/drop off to the airport, you can utilise the free bikes, coffee and tea are available all day - gratis! It rained one of the days, I was loaned an umbrella which allowed me the freedom to walk the 10 minutes into town. I was greeted with fresh fruit and a cold drink on arrival and when ever I sat at the table outside of my room I was given a fresh fruit platter every time. The breakfast is made to order and there is a good selection.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, not just because the rooms are big, clean and comfortable but because the staff go out of their way to help make your stay enjoyable. I didn't have any trouble being understood or understanding my host. In fact, I had several extended conversations in English.

I booked via Expedia for 1 night 14/7/2022. Arrived to check in...the gate was locked. All the rooms were padlocked & a woman yelled at me from a window saying that the hotel is closed. I finally found another place to stay & the owner told me that Lakhangthong has been closed for nearly 3 years. It still appears on Agoda for bookings. Expedia has been advised to remove it.

I usually do not write reviews but the experience at Lakhangthong has given me no choice but too. My girlfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights and at first it seems like a lovely place but trust me it is not. The guy at the reception welcomed us but is probably one of the rudest and shadiest people I have ever met who will try to make a buck off of you at any turn. He treated his staff like slaves rather than people, constantly yelling and telling them off. On our second day we went to to the Elephant sanctuary and obviously we got a bit muddy after playing with the elephants. After we got back after a lovely experience we asked the manager where we could wash our flip flops after which we directed us to the near by tap. After washing we were still a bit muddy so I decided to wipe my feet on a door mat considering that is why door mats were invented in the first place. A few minutes later the manager comes up to our room and starts yelling at us for wiping our feet on the mat and telling us to 'PLEASE BE NICE' while giving me the dirtiest stare imaginable. I said sorry and said I will clean it up if it was a problem. The room itself was mediocre at best but not worth the price at all. There was something wrong with the electricity in our room which meant that the electricity in our room went out at least 3 times an hour. The bathroom had a fowl smell and it seemed like someone had used our toilet whenever we were out. So if you stay here i suggest you DO NOT give them your key and keep it with you. The sheets smelt like old dirty sweat pants which we asked to get cleaned straight away. The last and probably the biggest problem is again the manager who is completely incompetent. Soon after he yelled at us and we checked out and I got an email from booking.com saying that Lakhangthong said that we were a no show and charged us more on our credit card. So as you can imagine we were infuriated with the experience as a whole. Thank god we got a receipt to prove that we were actually there. So PLEASE do not stay here, there are better places in Luang Prabang.

I only intended on visiting Lao for a few days, but ended up staying for the whole of May, spending most of my time based in Luang Prabang. The was the third place I stayed and I am so glad I found it, as it was my favourite place by far.

If you're looking for a small, very friendly, very new, clean guesthouse in a quiet location, walkable to the tourist centre, the Lakhangthong Hotel would be my recommendation. Michael and his family did a number of things to make my stay special, including going out and buying me phone credit when I just asked where I could get some. The rooms are all very clean and new and decked out in dark wood with comfortable beds and a very good TV choice (should you be bed bound for any reason). The hotel is brand new, only opening in March, so you can be sure it's in good condition.

I will definitely be staying there again on my next trip.

Staying in Lakhangthong Boutique (do not know what Boutique Hotel stands for?) Hotel for 5 nights, I can say that it is nothing special but okay. Rooms are spacious enough, with a veranda and really clean. Staff is very helpful and friendly. The rest is like always in those Asian hotels for 60$ - no hanger for towels, no space for your cloth and your bags, some things are a bit broken ... but they charge like in Europe. A lot of space for them to improve and ro make it more nice and cosy with just a lttle more of enthusiasm and less playing compute games while waiting for guest.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 10 night stay at the Lakhangthon Boutique Hotel. Our family of 4 had two large rooms on the second floor. The hotel staff went above and beyond for us, helping with cell phone sims, tracking down a parcel shipped from a Japan, to tours and transportation to Vientiane - they are incredibly hard working. Michael Duong the manager was prompt in personally responding to all my emails. The fresh made to order breakfast served out on the balcony was a morning treat. The spotless rooms are large with hardwood flooring and wood accents. Some limited construction noise during the day and roosters crowing which are a staple in Luang Prabang. We found this boutique hotel great value and would highly recommend.

The rooms are nice, the bed comfortable, the pillows soft..... The location is fine, a little out of the centre but a 15 minute wlk or $1/person tuk-tuk ride away. The breakfast as one would expect but presented and served well.

However, the service was fantastic. From the second we arrived to the moment we left, we were made to feel very welcome and nothing could be too much trouble for the staff. Superior hospitality to say the least. We'll be back.

We have been welcomed in this hotel with a great dish of fruit and a smoothie.

Rooms were huge and very clean.
Every room has its own private table outside where staff serves you breakfast, offering fruit, omelettes, baguettes and other very good food, together with a choice of several smoothies.

Also, they offer free transportation to the airport and they are very helpful in suggesting you what to visit nearby.

Location is very convenient, close to the city center and main attractions of the city (museum, temples,..)

I will come back for sure next time in Luang Prebeng!!
