This was my sixth visit in as many years to this lovely and well run hotel in this most enchanting village in Laos. The rooms are very large and decoration is modern and elegant yet subtle. It is wonderful to see that the place has not changed and that the service remains as good as ever. I had room 7...

My husband and I and another couple stayed in the Apsara for 3 nights. It is a fantastic location off the main street with views of the river. Rooms were comfortable in the old colonial style with nice little balconies. It was a pity that the English owner did not appear to have any interest in the guests, hardly acknowledged...

Dear Neridac_13, Thank you for staying with us at The Apsara. Please let us correct your comment with regard to the owner. The gentleman you saw spending a lot of time smoking is our regular restaurant and bar customer. He is not the owner of The Apsara. The reason this person you saw spends most of his time in our...

My husband and I stayed at the Apsara for 11 days in January, 2013. We stayed in a superior double room which we found very comfortable, commodious and attractive: we especially appreciated the AC and balcony. The breakfasts were very good: fresh fruit, juice choice of eggs or pancakes. The service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and very helpful. Many...

Spent one night before moving on to their other property. Charming, with great service. Quiet but close to everything. Breakfast was awesome, try the Masal omelet! Had a room overlooking the river. The owner and staff are so helpful.

2 nights just weren't enough in the very comfortable Apsara. We loved our room with it's colonial style spacious layout. It was so nice to have the French windows onto the balcony. Very peaceful. We loved to watch the river and the people work their crops at the other side Good air con and fan kept us cool and the...

Wonderful place to unwind and watch the world go by. Luang Prabang is a wonderful town for just chilling and enjoying a slower pace of life. The hotel is perfectly situated by the river. The staff are so helpful. The breakfast each morning is freshly cooked. Excellent.

I disagree with others who have posted average reviews. This small hotel is run by a charming owner who is extraordinarily attentive to your every need, his staff are equally in tune with the needs of the guest. The included breakfast is as good as any I've had in Laos & more than one expects for an included breakfast. The...

I have stayed here seven times over as many years. Ivan Scholte, the owner, is a consummate hotel proprietor and has a great eye for decoration of the common parts and the bedrooms. He has a wonderful, caring and helpful staff. There may be more luxurious hotels in Luang Prabang (at a cost), but I would rate the Apsara as...

The Apsara is a reasonably priced hotel that gives 5 star service in every way. Perhaps it is because the owner lives at the hotel. We often have found, during our 4-month yearly world travels, that owner run hotels can be the best – and this is one. At the Apsara, it feels as if everything has been carefully considered....

We spent three nights at the Aspara and it was fine but not impressive. We had a street level room fronting to the river which was nice and made for a great view at breakfast. The locals use the park across the street for parties which is lovely and lots of fun, but unfortunately there was one that went for...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The first and still one of the most beautiful boutique hotels in Luang Prabang, the Apsara was originally a rice warehouse situated on the banks of the Nam Khan [The quieter side of town]. The Apsara is also right in the heart of the heritage village, making it the perfect place to stay. From the comfort of its large, airy bedrooms, rated by the Washington Post as "an inch beyond decadence", it's easy to explore temples and the lanes of Luang Prabang. After which you can relax on the river terrace and enjoy the spectacular views and a refreshing Beer Laos. But that's not all, our restaurant is well known for having one of the most interesting menus in town as well as a superb wine list and the driest martinis in Laos. As Hip Hotels said "Both the restaurant and bar reflect a refined sense of taste" and who are we to argue with that. ... more   less
