I stayed at the Thong Bay Guesthouse for four nights. It’s located about 10 minutes from the city center; however, a periodic free shuttle will take you back and forth at scheduled times throughout the day and evening.

Spent 3 nights at this lovely guesthouse. The first night was in a garden room which was v good but then we moved to a riverside room which was fantastic... Beautiful evenings spent on the balcony overlooking the river and watching the sun go down....More
Highly recommend this place to couples, small families (2-4) and solo travellers who are looking for quieter time. A little further out of LP (10 minute slow cycle), this place offers v regular bus shuttles and was perfect for us.

I can't say I noticed sport fishing in LP, and I really doubt Thongbay caters to it, but there was guided fishing in Muang Ngoi, a day trip by minivan and boat up the Nam Ou river. You would need two nights in Muang Ngoi to fish it. And it's a great trip into the hills of Laos.
