Stayed at a bangalow facing the river. Nice room, clean and big for a single person. You have a balcony with a table and space for you to lie down while having refreshments.

I cant say enough about this great place! The rooms were great with a lovely view of the river, breakfast was excellent, staff were very helpful. The showers could do with some repairs but this is my only complaint but this was minor.
We arrived at Thongbay Guesthouse around 6 am after a night on the 'sleeping' bus from Vientiane. What follows might sound like laid on a little thick, yet it's just a description of what things were like.

I can't say I noticed sport fishing in LP, and I really doubt Thongbay caters to it, but there was guided fishing in Muang Ngoi, a day trip by minivan and boat up the Nam Ou river. You would need two nights in Muang Ngoi to fish it. And it's a great trip into the hills of Laos.
