At $50 US per night the Sayo River Guesthouse is not a great deal in Lao terms. Having said that we did stay there for three nights, had no problems with our stay and the location was quiet and we had a good view of the river from the little balcony out front of our room. The room itself was...

Aussie friends recommended Sayo River Guest House and we weren’t disappointed. In fact there were quite a few other Australians there when we stayed – but this wasn’t a bad thing! The room was a little cramped for 4 of us, but as we spent most of our time when in the room lying on our beds gasping because of...

huge room and bathroom with big bath - both clean. owners/staff had nothing going for them. the real problem with the place is that it had no atmosphere or character whatsoever and it wasn't particularly cheap. its main good point is that its right on the river.

We came looking for rooms after a one night, terrible stay in Rattana guesthouse. We looked at a lot of places- 3 Nagas (nice but at $190 per night much more than we wanted to pay), Apsara (our room at Sayo was larger & better, and theirs was over $100USD per night), Mekong Riverview (very nice rooms, we met the...

had nice stayed in both of sayo guesthouses: sayo xiang mouane and sayo river. the last one, got the wooden floor [sometimes that i like most from an old house] and the first one, situated pretty close to wat xiang mouane, so it's a strategic place to mingle with locals in attending monks' morning alms. but got the last one...

This is a quiet and well run hotel, although a little on the expensive side. It appears to be two large houses converted into individual rooms. For $US30 we got a basement room at Sayo Naga with 1 window, very poor ventilation and no balcony or ourdoor seating area. But the bathroom looked like it had never been used. There...

I attempted to stay at the Sayo River. Its hard for me to actually review this place as, despite having a written confirmation of my reservation for an upstairs room with a balcony, when I arrived, after a day long bus journey, they pretended the reservation didn't exist. They didnt offer a different room. They pretended I'd never made the...

I stayed at both the Sayo River GuestHouse and the Sayo Xieng Mouane and would recommend both. The Xieng Mouane is a bit closer to the action in Luang Prabang, but he River GuestHouse is right on the Mekong. Both Nith at the river location and Sao at the Xieng Mouane went out of their way to make me feel...

Stayed here for 3 nights, without an advance booking so we were glad we could find a room. Payed 30usd per night for a room in the quadrants next to the main building, quite expensive in my opinion. The room was basic, quite noisy, but spacious and equiped with airco, frigde, tv, hot water and housekeeping every day. No showercurtain...
