This was our 4th stay with Jumeriah and our 3rd at Dar Al Masyaf, Once again the complex exceeded our expectations.

Before I review I think its important to echo other comments about changes over the years to 'trim the fat' and I would agree you probably get less for your money than you did 10 years ago but the resort is a business and we accept the hotel has had to adapt to the ever growing competition.

We arrived on an overnight flight arriving at around 10am. There was a bit of a wait to check in and the process did feel a little tedious and long winded but never the less we managed to get an early check into one the two rooms which was great as my boy needed a sleep and so did my wife.

I had a few issues with my last stay (minor but needed to be addressed) and prior to arriving Marycris had spoken to me about an upgrade and we had pre agreed a room lagoon view in villa 13. This was upheld when we arrived and the room was everything we needed. Our son sleeps VERY well from 7-7 daily so after our evening meal we would spend our evenings on the balcony with wine and the sounds of Pai Thai just across the water. We loved the noise and we felt like we was apart of the restaurant every evening.

We used the Kids Club 3 out of the 7 days and we used the in-house babysitting service 3 nights so our boy could sleep in peace and we could eat in peace.

A massive shout out to Dolly who looked after our son the nights we ate out (in the hotel) and Franz who kept Joshua entertained in the dat at kids club.

The resort is 20 years old this year and is immaculate, there is not a leaf out of place. The grounds team work tiresley and their hard work is visible throughout the resort.

The newly refurbished Villas have a lovey fresh clean and crisp feel, more modern than previous but keeping their 1001 Arabian nights charm. House keeping was on it every day and if there was ever an issue it was sorted straight away. The Villa butler is a bit of a scam to be honest, you never see them, only for the evening drinks and to be fair our villa butler was fantastic with the evening drinks, we would call her from the room and she would bring them to our balcony every evening. She new our order and it appeared each evening. She was fantastic with our son and made our stay extra special. I'm so sorry I missed her name but the young lady in Villa 13. You rocked!

The wasp E Butler is probably the best thing about the resort, it makes it so easy to book meals and sort issues. A great service!

We switched breakfast each day between French Reveria and the Main Buffet. BOTH are outstanding, there is less on offer down at French Rivera but the mains are prepared fresh and you can help yourself to a smaller selection inside.

For Dinner we ate at :

Zheng He's (Mina Salam)
Al Nafoorah (Al Qsar)
Shimmers (Mina Salam)
Tortuga (Madinat)
Tortuga (Mina Salam) (Twice) !!
Al Qsar Buffet (for dinner)

All of these are 'included' in the Half Board Dine Around and the food is fantastic. The stand out is Shimmers (extra 180 and PP) the food and the setting are out of this world, it had a great DJ and a younger modern feel, it was our fave and the Lamb Shoulder carved at the table. WOW

The pools were cold and we had a lot of wind in the week we were there but this didn't impede our stay. Wild Wadi was open and we used it a few times but the was so so dam cold!

The stand out in this hotel are the staff, from the moment you arrive to the butlers, the bugger drivers, the abra boat guys, the life guards the pool staff just everyone goes above and beyond exceptions to make you feel special.

We find it hard to fault and we can't wait to return next year.

Top Tips!

Floor 24, well worth a visit for a cocktail, views are amazing.

The Under 4's kids eat free is just Wonderfull, 3 courses for lunch or dinner or both!, all included. Evern the private Villa pools. I had fish and chips, apple juice and chocolate brownie all brought to our sun loungers for my son. This is so good and really made our dinner plans easier knowing Josh was fed at a reasonable hour.

Phone your Buttler for drinks, it's much quicker than hanging around in the maglis!

We've stayed at Jumeirah properties several times as we live in the UAE and find staycations easier with our baby. This was our first COVID era travel and we understood things might be a bit bumpy service wise. First off I'd like to say that the staff and team did a great job enforcing social distancing and keeping the resort from being overcrowded but also bringing a sense of normalcy to the whole situation. All staff were in masks all the time. Menus were all electronic and all tables were far from one another with plenty of sanitizers and wipes provided anywhere you went from the lobby to rooms restaurants and beaches. You were always covered hygiene wise and I thank you for this. We were given a MASSIVE room just steps from the beach which we absolutely fell in love with. The beach was not overly crowded and we easily found a place to sit during our 3 days stay.

Our biggest issue revolved around the AC in the room not working to full capacity. The room was not hot but not comfortable. As high as we set the AC we couldn't get the temperature below 25-26. Even when set at 18 on full power. Management (Vanessa) acknowledged this issue and worked tirelessly to fix it but in the 3 days we were there it was never fixed and after the first night we lost hope and resorted to a fan as there were no other comparable rooms available. It was a bit aggregating when temperatures outside are 40 degrees + humidity. But we tried not to let it ruin our stay.

Our other issue was it seemed we had to ask for every minor thing. New glassware was never replaced. The room was never cleaned (except once when we asked) and even then making the bed and replacing towels is not really cleaning. Garbage and used dishes sat until we called to have it removed. We needed some baby items that are usually provided by without request.

Having said that it definitely seemed like they were trying but just short staffed. So we had trouble really faulting them as they kept apologizing and it was clear they knew their shortcomings.

Our butler Beck was awesome and really went out of his way to make up for the inconveniences. The khaymat al baher breakfast crew were top notch.

We love the Jumeirah group and hope next time we will be wowed like we were the first 2 times. But for now we were just happy to get out of the house for a few days.

Had my wedding proposal organised by the entire hotel team.

I had checked into the hotel for 2 nights, and had been going prior to my start back and forth for the organization of my proposal as my partner was flying in. Through out the process, I was assisted by Mr Lucky and Mr Nikhil, and I must say from the beginning to the end of the event, both of them were very helpful since day 1 of the organization, they delivered as promised, and always standing by with every small of my requests. I had managed to set up a wedding proposal by the beach of Al Qasr overlooking the Burj Al Arab. Would like to thank Mr Nikhil and Mr Lucky for everything during this event and for mainly removing my stress and taking it on their shoulders on my behalf. Both of them went above and beyond to make sure my proposal was perfect, and my partner really appreciated every small detail that they had put so much effort on.

In regards to the hotel stay, I have stayed in many hotels around the world, and I must say the hotel experience was one of the best I have had. From the reception, to the arrival to the rooms, delivery of the luggage everything was spot on. Even at the time of check out, everything was very smooth, my car was waiting for me at the valet area even before my arrival. The facilities were very well maintained, the sun beds properly sanitized, the food as amazing, buggies and abras were always on time within few minutes. I must say, an amazing experience.

Would like to give a heartedly special thanks to our butler at Dar Al Masyaf, Ms. Shenny from Villa 10. Since our arrival to our departure she went over and above just to make our stay very special. She managed to help with the camera team for my event, she had very nicely arranged for a cake for our celebration, gifted a bouquet of flowers to my partner, changed the set up of our room with amazing decor just to surprise my partner. Every small detail, was arranged and organised by Ms. Shenny, but mainly we could see that she was doing everything with heart and it was much appreciated. Many thanks to her.

Thank you to the hotel, for making my stay a memorable one, and helping me with the entire process of my proposal.

P.S. the breakfast was one of the best ones I've had in any hotel.

Just amazing from the moment you arrive at the hotel. We had a very warm welcome at reception and then a friendly buggy ride to our villa. The butlers for villa 16, Devendra, Kate and Haris were all so friendly and helpful, happy to meet our every need. We especially enjoyed chatting with them during 'Happy Hour' in the courtyard. The rooms were kept spotless all throughout our stay and constantly stocked with bottles of water and friut. Loved the attentive staff on the beach too, bringing towels, water, food, whatever we needed. We ate in the restaurants within the entire resort and they were all excellent, we celebrated our wedding anniversary in PaiThai and they made it feel like a very special day. We loved every moment of our stay at this truly amazing hotel and hope to return one day. Thank you to everyone who made this possible.

Having stayed at this hotel so many times due to its constant high standards and levels of luxury.. Unfortunately our current stay came at a time of COVID 19., a Global challenge for us all.

The levels of care and attention at this hotel escalated to a different level .with
Constant hygiene reminders and personal hand sanitisers and screening of all staff
delivered in such a manner that you would be unaware of anything else going
on in the world and you could relax and enjoy the stunning resort as normal..
We wanted to stay for whole month but the cuts in flying and threats to close airports were too risky so the madness of home awaits. I feel far safer here I have to admit.

Guest safetly was so paramount throughout and Manager Vanessa's personal service was beyond anything i have ever experienced.within a hotel.

This hotel is exceptional and i cannot recommend enough.

We stayed at Jumeirah Dar Al Masyaf this weekend. From check in to check out the whole experience was wonderful. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. There were plenty of hand sanitisers and wipes in the room and all around the resort, they have taken every care to make sure you are safe. The Arabian Summerhouse villa we were staying in was lovely, the butler was on hand with any of our requests. Luckily for us the pool next to our villa was open, we were given complimentary water all day. The breakfast was nice, so as to keep to the social distance rule we chose from a menu and had it served to our table, there was plenty of selection. You can get around the resort by abra or buggy, and they were always on hand if you wanted to get anywhere. We would definitely stay here again

Just returned from a seven day stay at the DAM. This was our fifth time in Dubai and our third time at the Dar Al Masyaf.

We arrived very early morning (2am). Check in was a bit slower than I expected especially given the early hour of the day. No welcome cold drinks or refreshing towels towels where waiting for us this time. As usual copies of passports where taken and approx 1000 AED per night was held on a credit card.

We had the half board (summer flavours promotion) and used it for either lunch or dinner depending on what our plans were. The selection of restaurants that we could use without an additional suppliment has diminished but to be honest we never ran out of places to eat.

Bottled water is provided free of charge by the pool and in the room. Not once was I told that it was limited. Fresh bottles are replenished as and when requested and in the room on a daily basis.

Sundowner drinks are still on the menu in your villa between 6-8pm every evening. Great selection available and its wonderful to meet so many other people who are also on return visits. It shows just how great this Hotel is.

The best part of the day is the ice lolly man who comes around the resort everyday in the afternoon. He is definately very popular with everyone.

Yes things have changed since our last visit but nothing impacted our stay in a negative way.

We had breakfast everyday in the Arboretum. It was a great buffet with a huge choice that satisfied everyone. A special mention to Victoria, Patrick and Carlos who always made sure we were served with a smile.

Our Villa butlers where Shenny and Shashi both of whom are a credit to the DAM. If you are lucky enough to have either of these two members of staff you will not be disapointed. Nothing was too much trouble for them to organise. They were both the best Villas Butlers we have had.

Our pool butler was Edison who deserves a lot of recognition for the fantastic job he does. He is clearly dedicated to his work and so happy and friendly.

Also Mahendra at The Palmery and Jose at the Al Qasr Pool Bar are both exceptional at their jobs. The sevice they provided during our meals was fantastic.

The worst part of the stay was leaving. It's always too soon and we are already planning our next visit. We will never stay anywere else (Apart from the Burj Al Arab if we are ever that lucky of course!)

The Covid19 precautions were amazing. I felt very safe. There was social distancing, Hand Sanitizers were available everywhere and all the staff wore masks and gloves.
All the staff were so friendly and efficient. We even had Ice Cream given to us free of charge!
Everything was very thoughtfully done to ensure the pleasure and comfort of the guests.
I highly recommend this Hotel for a vacation!

This is our 15th visit to Dar al Masyaf...and I can say we were not disappointed. It is our first visit back since covid. The hotel is so covid safe. For breakfast is now an option to eat al a carte and the buffet in AL Qusar is served by the chefs so no contamination from people touching utensils. There are hand sanitizers located everywhere cleanliness was definitely to its high usual standards.

I would like to say a big thank you to our buttler in villa 17 Sashi. He was absolutely amazing. He was so attentive to all our needs, nothing was ever to much trouble for him and he would always have a warm and welcoming smile on his face. Sashi is truly an asset to Dar al Masyaf and I hope we will meet him again on our next visit (which we are already planing for March this year!).

Also Thank you to Mary Chris the manager for making our stay wonderful as always. Mary is so friendly and always takes time out to talk to us when we visit.

Thank you once again to Sashi and Mary Chris for making our holiday wonderful and plesrnt. See you both in March!

Amazing hotel with wonderful staff in a unique setting!
We have just returned from our 5 night stay at this beautiful place, our second trip here in 2 years and we are so pleased we chose to return. Last year 2021 we felt the hotel was still recovering from the effects of Covid and perhaps the standard of service was not were it should have been plus we chose to stay in a summer house/villa towards the back of the resort which turned out to be a mistake as we felt alittle ‘out of it’. This time we were allocated a summer house/villa number 3 which was incredible, right on the front of the resort, overlooking the beach and sea. The highlight for us this year was the service we received from Ashis ‘our butler and Rhoneza our housekeeping manager. Ash was just the best, he looked after us so well from re-arranging restaurant reservations to bringing our G&T’s at happy hour, to leaving special touches in our room (flowers, fruit, snacks, chocolates). He is extremely good at his job and DAM are lucky to have him. Rhoneza made sure our beautiful Arabian summer house was so well looked after.
This year our favourite restaurants were Rockfish, French Riviera, Pad Thai and the best of all for location and food in our opinion was Shimmers.
The whole resort is incredible in our opinion, the grounds are kept immaculate, the waterways make it unique, all the staff we came across from the reception to the staff in the restaurants, to the drivers of the buggies and abra’s and the guys on the beach were so friendly and helpful.
Our one area of concern is that now most restaurants now carry a supplementary charge on top of the half board deal so it is definitely worth considering if this deal is now worth it before you book.
Hopefully we will return again for some winter sunshine - the temperature in November is perfect!
Our request will be to stay in villa 3 so that ‘Ash’ can take care of us again.
