We have stayed at The Kensington many times and we’re never displeased. The rooms are clean and beds are very comfy. Our favorite part is of course the spacious pool area. My top recommendation when staying in the area for sure!

We have stayed before the pandemic and chose this again as the most likely to pandemic prepared. They seemed to be. Masks worn properly, gloves, rooms clean, some items removed from rooms to lessen possible transmission. Still a nice hotel and comfy stay. Seemed like there was a big family reunion when we were there so pool area was busy - but numbers kept low- and more noise in the halls but tolerable. People just trying to connect again.

We stayed at The Kensington Hotel for one night for a friend’s 21st birthday. All of the staff we encountered were very helpful and knowledgeable. We stayed on the third floor with the executive suites and liked how their was extra security with a key card door blocking off entrance to the hallway. The amenities the place offers like the gym, pool, hot tub, continental breakfast, and evening reception with wine and light appetizers were great! We also ate dinner at the Relish Restaurant which is a bit pricey but was delicious!

We will be back to AA and The Kensington will be our home away from home forever since my daughter resides there. Her home is now too full so she steered us to The Kensington and we are so glad she did.
The minute we arrived to check in Meg greeted us with a warm welcome and refreshing pop of champagne. Our room was spotless, beds were super comfy with crisp clean sheets and lovely amenities such as in room tea and coffee and a large full service flat screen TV.
As aa swimmer especially appreciated the giant pool and well appointed exercise room complete with free weights.
We did not eat in the on sight restaurant but stopped in to the lounge for a nightcap where the friendly bartender served us with a smile.
Everyone on staff was personable and helpful including the maid and maintenance staff. We chatted and learned the history of the hotel and the owners commitment to updating the facilities.
The proximity to Briarwood mall and University locations just off the expressway make this location our go to for all future visits.

It sounds like you had time to enjoy all the amenities that the hotel has to offer. Our indoor pool is the largest hotel pool in Ann Arbor, which is perfect for an Avid Swimmer like yourself. I am pleased that you enjoyed our convenient location, clean and comfortable room. We look forward to welcoming you back with a complimentary toast of champagne the next time you visit your daughter. If you stay here, I highly recommend getting an Executive or higher room.

1. The rooms were great. However, I feel the bathrooms were a tad small compared to the size of the room and they were kind of outdated. The cleanliness of the bathrooms weren't amazing but not awful. The king bed was super comfortable. TV's were a large size with good channels. Mini fridge and microwave came in handy. I was so glad there was an ice machine as well. Many times I stay in a hotel with a fridge in the room, there is not an ice machine on the floor, instead have an ice tray in the fridge in the room and that kind of frustrates me. This hotel had both the ice tray in fridge and an ice machine on the floor.

2. The amenities that came with the Executive rooms were great. Champagne at check-in (I was able to check in before 3 so I missed out on this which was fine) The appetizers in the evening were not spectacular but okay. The wine in the evening and fridge of bottled water/canned sodas/etc made it worth it though since I did not need to spend extra money at the vending machines. Breakfast was fruit, cereal, oatmeal, etc. We were pretty hungry so we went to a local diner instead. We did not eat at Re-lish in the hotel. We had a pizza delivered to the hotel instead.

3. The pool/sauna/hot tub was great. Hot tub was a little small and had to take turns with other guests but overall it was a nice area and clean. We did not use the fitness area...it was pretty crowded with guests.

4. Location was good as well. Close to breweries, shopping, and other attractions we came for.

On a recent visit to Ann Arbor we chose the Kensington Hotel because the other hotels closer to the University of Michigan campus were sold out. The Kensington is a sprawling property that has been recently refreshed and has more character than the many chain hotels in the area. The rooms are large, with nice sized desks, comfortable beds and in-room coffee makers. While the bathroom is dated, the water pressure was great and it was clean. Our room at the back of the hotel had stylish furniture, plenty of light, and was extremely quiet despite the hotel's location just off the freeway. It is 10 minutes by car but is definitely not walkable to downtown or UM. There is a restaurant on site but oddly it was not open for breakfast or lunch; there is (pricey) grab and go in he renovated lobby. Parking is close and extensive. Front desk staff was not helpful about local restaurant options. While rates vary widely, if you can book this hotel at a reasonable price, the Kensington is a good option for Ann Arbor.

We've stayed at The Kensington several times while our son has been a student at the University of Michigan. It's a well-run, clean hostelry with comfortable rooms and a friendly, accommodating staff. The location works well for access to campus, restaurants, shopping, and I-94. They seem to have adapted well to the "new normal" of COVID-19, with plexiglass screens at the reception desk, signage with reminders about wearing masks and maintaining social distancing, and enhanced cleaning procedures.

The staff was amazing. The heater in the room was so loud, I got little sleep. The bathroom floor hadn’t been cleaned in a while. There was a dead bug smashed into the wall in the shower. The bathroom was tiny and uncomfortable. The pillows were in rough shape and the blankets were paper thin so I was cold all night. The fridge in the room froze all my water and pop, so I paid $4 for a small bottle in the lobby. The lobby is beautiful. The rooms are not. I won’t be staying here again. It’s not worth the price. They didn’t honor the AAA price of $138 so I paid way too much. And I don’t understand how a $3 cookie and $4 water come to a $12.50 charge to my room. I’ve had bigger and nicer rooms for a much cheaper rate elsewhere. It wasn’t an awful stay, but it is one I don’t want to do again.

Very friendly front desk personnel. Our room was perfect (loved our king size bed) and their grounds & gardens were beautiful. The price was reasonable for the room, but if you want coffee and a muffin for breakfast you have to pay for it. Even though, I would stay there again!

I stayed here 1 night due to a work sponsored lunch being catered in one of the dining halls, as well as to celebrate my girlfriends birthday. I called to change rooms since some people ended up not staying with us, and the front desk host was friendly and easily gave us a different room and said we could check in at any time. This was our first time staying at this hotel, and we really like the old fashioned style and design of the place. It seemed newly renovated so I got the old fashioned interior feel without feeling like I was in an old weathered building. Our room was in the “executive” area on the 3rd floor which essentially was a hall of rooms that required a room key to access. I paid extra for this room specifically to allow for more privacy and less noise. We never heard anyone passing in the halls or anything so we appreciated that. The room was pretty nice and standard hotel room features. No problem with bugs or dirtiness. There’s good room temperature control features and the bed is pretty comfortable. There’s also an indoor heated pool and jacuzzi which was a huge benefit since it was winter time when we were there. Being natives to the local area, it was a really nice getaway without traveling too far from home.
There’s a restaurant connected to the hotel that unfortunately we did not try but we definitely will next time when we come back :)
