Powered by AI

The Ann Arbor Regent Hotel & Suites emerges as a charming choice for visitors, particularly those attending university events, due to its prime location near downtown and an array of favored amenities like the pool and complimentary breakfast. While the staff receives commendation for their helpfulness, some guests have noted occasional lapses in service. The hotel's atmosphere, with its appealing garden and atrium, adds to its allure, although there's a consensus that both the rooms and certain facilities could benefit from modernization. Despite the criticisms of some dated decor, the hotel's overall cleanliness and value are often highlighted by guests, although opinions on value vary with event-based pricing fluctuations.

Have stayed at this property many times. Staff are always friendly & competent. Rooms are well furnished & comfortable. Always clean & well maintained. Layout of property is good, in that rooms are away from road with traffic so have never had a "noisy" location.

Very disappointed that breakfast wasn't being served, although advertised on the booking agent site. Even still charged 1.00 a piece for 2 8oz bottles of water inside the suite. Gift cards to local businesses should have been provided for the lack of provisions included in the 150$ a night price tag. That, or a price reduction of the room since all advertised amenities weren't provided. Also, found a used qtip behind the toilet with a quick glance from the shower, so a little more attention to detail would be nice.

This hotel is clean and centrally located. The make-shift breakfast was just okay. The woman behind the counter severing breakfast was pleasant.
The toilet in our room clogged the first time it was used. Front desk sent a crappy (no pun intended) plunger that did not work. The hole in the bottom of the toilet is oblong and the plunger is round. After several tries, we called the front desk again. An HOUR later, someone from maintenance brought a better plunger and unclogged it on the first try. Hmmm...why send the other plunger EVER? After that, we were afraid to use the toilet. It barely flushed a tiny amount of toilet paper.
The other issue was that we walked into a freezing room! I mean COLD! It took three hours for the room to come up to a comfortable temperature of 70 degrees. If you know a guest is checking in, at least turn on the heater to 65 degrees in the winter.

I have stayed at the Regent numerous times over the past few years while visiting family in Ann Arbor. This is our "go to" place because the staff is always super friendly, both on the phone and when greeting you throughout your stay. They are helpful and professional. The rooms are nothing fancy but are comfortable, quiet, and clean. The location of the Regent is perfect for getting around Ann Arbor easily and is located close to places to grab quick coffee or a bite on the run. Overall, a great value place to stay.

Just spent three nights at the Ann Arbor Regent. Our room was sparkling clean and incredibly quiet, with a comfortable bed, a refrigerator that actually kept things cold enough, and a microwave! The truly extraordinary thing to me was the care and attention of the staff. First of all, it’s a pleasure to phone a hotel and speak to a person immediately, instead of wading through prompts via a recording. I have severe allergies and a huge list of questions that Lee (Leigh?) accommodated so graciously. Michelle at the front desk was amazing - so kind, friendly, and just a joy, as was Holly. When the breakfast lady was out one day Cam stepped in and handled breakfast beautifully. Each and every person we interacted with was great. Kudos to the entire staff.

Breakfast is complimentary, which was great; and was a selection of cereal, yogurt, whole fruit, pastries, and hot items. The hot selections are the same each day - scrambled eggs, hash browns and sausages (all of which were good, but some variety might be welcome for those staying multiple nights).

The hotel also takes Covid precautions. They have a special way of clearing rooms of contaminants, and I was able to request no housekeeping service during our stay. We felt safe and comfortable. Thanks Ann Arbor Regent for a great stay!

If coming to Ann Arbor again, I'd stay here. It's not a luxury hotel, but it's really good for what it is. I travel a lot and have probably stayed in most main brand around the world. I would say this property is similar to a Marriott Courtyard or a Hampton Inn. It was clean. The rooms were reasonably sized. The free wifi worked. The complimentary breakfast was not some massive spread but sufficiently decent (no complaints about this). The amenities were better than expected. The gym was nicer than anticipated. The pool and hot tub area was really nice for a property at this level. I would have expected that level pool area in something more like a Hilton. The game room was a really nice touch and created a comfortable secondary area to hang out in apart from the lobby. There was a really nice pool table, shuffleboard table, and foosball table. It was more like the upstairs lobby than a separate room. There were also two computer like consoles off the main lobby that appeared to have a variety of free games on them. The location is good if you have business at the University of Michigan or Eastern Michigan University. For Ann Arbor public school graduations, this location is ideal as it's 7 minutes away from the George Gervin center where they are all held (about a $10 uber in 2024). The was well-known family style restaurant next door to the hotel and another well-known seafood chain across the street. There was a third restaurant within a few feet, but a local one that I didn't visit, so I can't speak to the quality of it. It's also very convenient to the interstate for drivers and about 30 minutes (about a $40 uber in 2024) from the airport. The only thing that you should be aware of with this property is that it's two floors with many staircases spread throughout to get you up and down, but there's only one elevator at the center of the long building. So, if you have someone with you who can't handle stairs, you probably want to request a room on the first floor. Overall I'm very satisfied and would stay here again.

I wasn't impressed with the fact that I couldn't check in when I was originally told I could, it was 4 hours later after I drove 2 hours to get there , I wasn't impressed with the extra fees for amenities that I never asked for . On your website the room was advertised at $90 and upon check in it was $150 . The room needed vacuuming and the lamp was broken. To much chlorine in the hot tub that made a sit in it unbearable along with the kids in it that were splashing water at us .we stayed there because I had heart surgery the next day and we thought it would be relaxing, it was all but that!

On day two of our stay we were informed that housekeeping services were available every three days. The clerk at the front desk said that there is a large sign at the front desk making people aware. I did remind her that when I made the reservations, it was from my home, not at their front desk.
We were told that there were two containers in the hallway, one for towels and one for garbage. Actually there was only one container, so everyone was throwing dirty towels and garbage in one container. Check out time is 11am. I had an appointment at U of M at 3PM on my check out day so I asked for a late check out. I was told the latest they could allow was 11:30am and I would have to check with them that morning to see if it was OK. I ended up paying for an entire night to be able to leave at 2pm. Horrible experience. Will never stay here again.

Rare will I stay in a non chain hotel, but with work travel so many have been subpar. This was a very pleasant experience of VERY clean which is my top priority.
Subtle details of the extra blankets being nicely folded to really soft toilet paper where nice touches.
An engaging check in staff made that aspect pleasant.
Generally I would say the aesthetic was dated but not unpleasant.
The issues is the mattress. Just not great. Not the worst, but certainly if better would have guaranteed a five star. I read several reviews before checking in, obviously positive reviews made me decision to stay by I did read one review addressing the mattress as being less than ideal…I too agree. Knowing this, I would not hesitate to recommend or stay again

I had to come to Ann Arbor under less-than-ideal circumstances on fairly short notice. Regent was recommended to me as a patient/ family member of U of M Medical. I could not be more impressed! Literally from the moment I checked in (with the very sweet Mark at the front desk), we were cared for. He even very kindly tolerated my sleep deprived, overwhelmed tears when I couldn't tell him when I would actually be checking out. He simply told me with the kindest smile "we are here to help you with absolutely anything you need and as long as you need it. Please don't hesitate to let us help you. It's why we are here." It was truly the most welcome I have ever felt in a hotel. The shuttle service to and from the hospital made such an immense difference in the stress level of my stay. I am not a "city driver" and was in no real condition to be navigating the traffic and unknown roads to U of M. In terms of a hotel, the place is gorgeous. It carries a charm I haven't seen in quite some time. The pool and hot tub are in a beautiful, open atrium type area. It was quiet, airy and beautiful. It did not have the steamy/ chlorine smell/ stuffiness of so many hotel pool/ hot tub areas. While I was certainly not up for billiards, the second floor has a very unique and impressive game area. Very cool. There was a wheelchair available to get my family to/ from the hotel room that I had not anticipated needing but could not have gotten by without. I could continue to go on, but the bottom line is that I am overwhelmingly impressed with Ann Arbor Regent and any future visits to the area will definitely start here. Very well done, Regent!
