I stayed there in Feb. 2014 and returned last week for a few nights. This time the network was functional and I was able to stream and Skype. The price was 240 Bolivianos per night at an exchange rate of 7 B to the dollar. The staff were nice and receptive. The air conditioning was very good. The shower and...

Yes, the network was not functional. The breakfast was not something to look forward to - better places to eat in the walking-distance area. I stayed there a few nights and used it as a base while on a fish collecting trip with some friends. The television worked, the hot water worked and the A/C worked. The A/C tended to...

Got dropped off by taxi at a nearby place that looked a bit shady so walked around the corner and found this place. Looks decent on the outside, but for the price you could get much better. Very old and hasn't been maintained well. Wifi didn't work and the man at the desk couldn't have cared less. Breakfast was mediocre....

This place was almost beyond belief. It looks fairly decent from the outside, but isn't. Our first room had an airco unit that didn't function. We told management about it before going out to dinner. Got back, were told it was fixed. It wasn't. Got another room where the unit did work. However the bathroom looked like a death trap....

Great location, cheap and the photos are lovely, aren't they? Don't be fooled: it's dirty, has old and broken fixtures and fittings, food is poor, some of the electrics look quite dangerous and the pool is murky. But far worse than any of this, I am pretty certain that the hotel tried to set us up with a taxi robbery...

Stayed at this hotel in march 2009. The only positive with this hotel is the location. We came in the evening, there were no persons who could speat english. We had to use the fingers. The room was bad, the same was the breakfast. Not clean on the rooms. No, this was not good.

We stayed one night in this hotel between our flights expecting that we could sleep fine. We came late at night and were lead to a room that had a broken mirror and old style and much used furnitures. The bed was tough and when I looked under it I saw that it was also broken in the middle. The...

I'm amazed the Hotel Viru Viru got such a high rating on Trip Advisor. I stayed there last May with my father and we were far from impressed. First of all the rooms are very small, somewhat dirty, and we had to fight for things like towels and for a room with air conditioning. Also, the breakfast buffet in the...

Given the limited accommodation options in Santa Cruz, this is OK. It isn't anything like the standard it thinks it is or tries to be, but it's a fine base, the best thing being its location - conveniently close to the main plaza. It is the standard of a hostal really, but without any of the charm and individuality of...
