Phnom Penh, Cambodia

The riverside walkways are terribly dirty. Broken cement works, human feaces and lng overgrown grass on the side of the river at the Watef Festival. Aweful in what could be the jewel of the city. It is unthinkable that the river banks should be in this condition at the time of this festival. The city has failed.

This is a low season for Siem Reap before the monsoon rains arrive. Tuk Tuks and restaurants are not busy. You can negotiate a better rate with Tuk Tuks. In comparison with Bangkok or Phnom Penh we felt safer taking the Tuk Tuks in Siem Reap. Take a Tuk Tuk for a city tour for US$4. Locals in Cambodia seem...

I booked a private room for two nights prior to arriving in Cambodia and when I turned up here with my booking receipt printed out the receptionist was clueless. Eventually after she spoke on the phone with someone not once but twice I was informed that the room had been booked out despite having already paid for it online. I...

This was.....so bad. I booked on Expedia three weeks before I arrived for three nights. First, I arrive and I don't get the room I booked. I was too tired to argue so I said we would work it out in the morning. It was difficult to sleep (room number 7 ground floor) - the room hadn't been cleaned properly...

I just stayed at the guesthouse again. Last time I complemented the hotel for their great service and quiet space, or at least relative quiet for cambodia, away from barking dogs and the pub street big bus traffic jams, while just a 20 minute walk or five minute tuk tuk ride from the further parts of town. All true still...

I have been living in Siem Reap doing Mission work and my mom was coming over to visit for a month in 2013. I looked at many guesthouses in the area near where i was staying for a gueshouse that was quiet, peaceful, had AC, had comfortable beds, and at a decent price. I decided to book here because the...

We booked a room for four and we got two bunk beds that hardly fit in the room. There is no walking space, one of the bunk beds covers half is the door to the restroom. There is mold and they don't clean the room unless you ask and when you ask they do a terrible job. Bathroom is moldy...

When I booked (and had to pay...) this hotel online, there were 5 rooms left. Once I got there, no room was available, no one was expecting to see me coming with my written confirmation from the online website. It looks like a decent guesthouse (of course, the professional pictures are professional.. it's not as private as it seems) yet...

The city hotel is very cheap. It is a hotel for those on a serious budget. The hotel isnt wonderful but the staff are. The workers are very understanding and cooperative. They try to make you as happy as possible which is good. The air conditioner was amazing and cold. Overall it was an ok stay in siem reap.
