I could not stand with this hotel, so I requested a full refund and left the hotel once I stepped inside the room. The first time I needed to do so! Let's start at the beginning. I spoke Mandarin to the lady at the check-in desk (who I know can speak perfect Mandarin as I heard her speaking it with her colleagues). Still, she kept on replying to me in Cantonese. Why? Can't you use a language that you know while the guest prefers? I had already signaled her that I preferred to speak Mandarin as I continued speaking in Mandarin after her Cantonese response. Does Marriott Zhuhai do that just to make guests feel difficult? Fine, that is not a huge problem. The huge problem started to emerge once I entered the room. The room was so obviously under-maintained. Even the TV menu was covered with a layer of ash! Not to mention the room cannot be smaller. However, what was worse was that the room I booked was a sea-view room, but all I could see was a bunch of run-down buildings. I immediately called the front desk, and they told me to go closer toward the window, look at the corner, then the sea view would be there. Bomb! Magic! Is it what Marriott Zhuhai thinks a sea-view would be like?! A room with absolutely no view over the sea from any normal angle and can only see the sea from a particular angle at a specific corner of the tiny room! Is this a sea-view room? Can you call a room located in New Jersey with a little bit of view of the tip of NYC One World Trade Center as "Manhattan skyline room"? I explained it very politely to the front desk, but guess what they replied. "Actually, we have already arranged you with a room on a higher floor..." they told me. Oh, then should I say thank you? No matter how high the room is located on, do not call it a sea-view room if it has no sea view! You cannot give me a van when I am buying a sports car, no matter what color that van is! I told her that I really could not accept this room when what I was sold with was a sea-view room. I told her that this is actually a deceptive act. She apologized (very probably according to her SOP), then spoke nothing. I had no choice but asked if they could refund me so I could leave. She held me for thirty seconds when she talked to her manager; then, she told me to go down to the lobby to give back my room key. So I did, and left the hotel. I was shocked. Requesting a refund and leaving the hotel is the strongest signal a guest can send to the hotel that we are not satisfied with the hotel. Any hotel that values its guests would definitely look into this issue very seriously. At the very least, they would send their manager to talk to the guests to better understand why the guests get so angry and to apologize. However, very interestingly, the management of Marriott Zhuhai simply asked her subordinate to tell me I was welcomed to leave (I have all the reasons to suspect that the manager had never had any intention to learn more about this issue with me). The lady on the phone even stressed to me that I needed to go down to the lobby myself to give them back their loving room key (not sure if it is what her manager told her to stress. If it is, then further confirms that this hotel does not value its guests). Of course, the lady at the reception simply took that key and said I was then free to go. Throughout the entire process, the entire Marriott Zhuhai team showed no attempt to understand why they fail; offered no apology; had no intention to save my vanished expectation about the hotel. At last, I went down alone, returned the key to them (I need to stress again that the lady receiving the key had no smile, no apology, no communication, just "okay, you are good to go". Even the bell person ignored me. That is actually really disgusting because I can feel that they did it intentionally: I came out from the hotel with other hotel guests. The bell person only greeted them and did not even look at me. After opening the taxi door for them, he returned to the lobby immediately, as if I was not there. The only message I got from the hotel is: why don't you just leave... I believe this experience reveals at least two quite severe problems. Firstly, the hotel management refuses to recognize that they are promoting their property in a perhaps deceptive way. Secondly, the entire team, from the hotel to the bell person, does not value their guests; in fact, they even intentionally embarrassed the guest who made a very reasonable complaint. This is far far below the standard of the Marriott brand. Or, more precisely speaking, it is even up to the standard of a basic hotel; at least guests would get the most basic respect in a basic budget hotel. All Marriott Zhuhai cared about is perhaps just their room key...…
Rooms are comfortable, front desk is helpful, breakfast is good. But good luck getting room service if you want to eat in your room! Ordered, food came in late and wrong, when they brought the correct order 30 mins later they had kept the same cold fries, no mineral water available, tiny portions, when I tried to order more food they said the kitchen was closed ! ( after 8 pm) . The manager helpfully suggested mc Donald s next door :)
We decided to go on a family weekend away from Guangzhou and chose the Marriott as we are titanium members. First off, they did not have our second room ready until 5pm because they did not want to inconvenience the person that had overridden on their stay. Then when we checked in the hallway was full of cigarettes smoke- this was the case for 2 days in a row , heavy smoking allowed in the hotel and no hotel staff to remedy the issue. They only said “if we see them smoking we will let them know it’s not allowed”. We asked the room Ayi and front desk to help fix the issue and instead of taking care of the rule beakers they said they could move us to another room ( inconveniences us again instead of the people that are just taken full advantage of the hotel not respecting other guests). Then the men’s spa was not in service, only cold water in the jacuzzi, the room was cold and the heater only would reach 21C. Their excuse was “ because of covid” we are short staffed. But then when we went to eat at the breakfast they confine the guests to sit close and not spread out . We asked to sit away from the crowd and meet the window. They declined our request. Later a couple coughing repeatedly and blowing their nose sat just beside us while another couple asked the host to sit at the window area and they were permitted to sit there in the safer area not crowded away from the coughing group. The food at the Chinese restaurant was actually very nice but unfortunately the service was very slow and lacking, even bringing us an entree as we were leaving and paid the bill. The Japanese restaurant took our reservation and upon arrival they then decided to let us know “ oh btw, we don’t have any salmon but we have avocado”. The restaurant staff could learn more hope to have better communication and less gruff and less than hospitable disposition. Ask as we ordered the Chinese tea service we noticed that all others ordering the special tea that they were served properly with the hot water kettle and burner but we were not and had to keep asking for hot water . It was very off putting because we wanted to experience the high level tea service as the others and then just felt very unprofessional and not nice. A few friendly trained workers, Stephany, Will, the male restaurant manager at the Man Ho restaurant, the spa attendant in the female lockers, the room attendants for the 25th and 28th floor. Many others are coming across less than desired , especially from a Marriott brand hotel. Also upon making the restaurant reservation with the front desk they also let us know that we should indeed make yet another room deposit ( in addition to the 2 room deposits that we already made) because we have spent so much money at the hotel and that we need to agree to add on more money to ensure our stay is secured for payment. This is the first time we have encountered this extra deposit. I would not recommend this hotel to spend a relaxing weekend with you let family. It seems it is more for business guests that their company has paid for their stay so they could care less as it isn’t their own hard earned money and precious family time using rare annual leave days to be treated like a dirt level aluminum foil member much less than our titanium status. As I am writing this trying to decompress from the rude brunch, there is loud hammer noises banging on the wall. Not able to take a short nap. Endless one start experiences encountered here. I would hope to have received a better visit as this is a Marriott hotel. …
Very new and luxurious type of hotel and it is in a quiet area but it can walk just a few minutes to a large shopping mall with various of the restaurant, very very convenience, best restaurant ,I will stay again for my next Zhuhai visit.
Ive stayed in this hotel in june 2019, it s nice hotel confortable rooms delecious breakfast, perfect location near to gardens brach and big stors. The staff are also nice and friendly, but the frint desk didnt give me back my 1000Y zs deposit, i sent many emails they said that it s done but no they didnt, they sent a paper as proof but it not signed by me so it not a proof. Dont leave the hotel before you are sure that your deposit are really back.
Average hotel with slightly above average service. Blend in with all the other Marriotts in Asia. Good value for the money and nearly one third of the price of JW Marriott in Macau which is just 10 miles away. The room cost around a hundred US dollars so one cannot find fault with it. Executive lounge is deserted but does offer decent food and refreshment. Even has noodles in morning.
This hotel had a spacious room with certainly modern interior, a large nice and comfy bed. Staff was friendly and the room service was good. The fruit platter is very good from the menu. Enjoyed my stay here, will stay here again.
She made it happened. She gave all the information like she is from Macau including where to go, how to go:) We are too lucky to meet with her and helping us. Thank you for making our vacation flawless!!!
Stayed here in business for a total of 11 nights over a couple of different stays. After sampling almost every hotel brand worldwide with work, Zhuhai Marriott is where all other hoteliers should be sent for training. Great rooms, great location, amazingly attentive staff, executive lounge that means you can work with colleagues in a pleasant fully stocked room. Good restaurants etc etc Genuinely the best hotel for business I have stayed in
This was my first time staying at Marriott in Zhuhai. I have stayed at Intercon and St. Regis before. To my surprise, the rooms are Marriott are quite comfortable and spacious. The room rates are reasonable for the kind of service and rooms you are getting. All the rooms are quite new and has an open bathroom which makes the room seems alot bigger. The location I think is great as it is only within a few minutes walk to many restaurants, supermarkets and of course, starbucks. You will find a nice shopping plaza just outside the hotel with everything you will need. It is I think more convenient than Intercon or St. Regis and with cheaper room rates. I would definitely stay here again for my next trip to Zhuhai.
