There are three things that I look for in a hotel: 1) Service 2) Decoration 3) Uniqueness The service was definitely not there. In fact, I had a situation in which one of the bartenders asked me if I wanted to do a side deal where I would pay the bartender on the side in exchange for free drinks. Definitely... More

This place does not have the service I expected. The lobby receptionist was not helpful at all. The rooms were not very clean and to top it all off, it was far from the old city (El Centro). If you visit Cartagena you have to stay in the old city. That is were all the acion is. The only thing... More

My experience in Cartagena would have been great if it not for the hotel I was put in. Las Americas is far from town, expensive and service is not that great. If you are going to Cartagena, I would strangly recommend staying in the old city. There are a few excellent Boutique Hotels located in restored colonial homes. If you... More

I have to say, that out of all the hotels I have been to, Casa El Carretero is the best. It is a small Bed and Breakfast with all the luxury ameneties of a 5 start hotel. Great pool in the roof and you cann see the old city as you zip a margarita in the roof top pool. I... More

My parents are from Colombia, but I was born and raised in the US. My husband is American, and I was very apprehensive of bringing he and our children to Cartagena.
