I will start with the positives. The hotel is near the Milla de Oro in Poblado, the Centro Commercial Santa Fe and many other excellent shopping locations, tremendous restaurants and bars. The staff is also professional and courteous. However, we found the rooms to be outdated. The bed is hands down the worse that I have ever experienced throughout travel destinations in North, Central, and South America, Europe and the Caribbean. The bathroom is cramped and the room is not sound proof. During the night you can hear next door guest, or those walking down the hallway. We were unable to get a good night’s sleep.
Excellent staff, wonderful location, friendly people so everything you want to visit Medellin. The clima is a great bonus as well :) I had problem with my computer on my arrival, but it was immediately solved by the staff, very kind and helpful people.
Really enjoyed our stay at the NH Hotel Royal Medellin. Good location, walking distance to Santa Fe and Oviedo Mall. Breakfast was delicious, fresh juices. Hotel rooms are clean. Free WiFi. Friendly staff!
This was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. The hotel grounds and pool are breathtaking. The room was spacious and immaculate with a great view. Breakfast was spectacular. And service was incredible. We had the good fortune to meet the hotel director, and he was an exemplary host: above and beyond helpful, friendly and thoughtful. He sets the tone for the staff that's equally attentive and warm. At lunch and dinner, Cristian C. was wonderful. At breakfast, everyone was so thoughtful and service-oriented with a smile! Thank you, we will definitely return.
Everything about this hotel worked for me - location, friendly and capable staff, beautiful room, fantastic pool, and amazing breakfast buffet with super friendly and attentive staff. Only thing missing was effective bedside reading lamp for the evenings. I hope to stay here again in the near future :)
The NH Collection Medellin Royal is a beautiful hotel in El Poblado. It is a quick walk to the beautiful Santa Fe Mall with an abundance of stores, restaurants and financial services. The hotel staff is some of the best I have encountered. Although the hotel is starting to show its age ... it is well maintained. It is located in a quiet area of El Poblado ... but very close to all the dining, shopping and entertainment activities. I highly recommend this property. The pool area, spa and restaurant are inviting with the gorgeous year - round weather. Only minor issue was the noise the air conditioner made when it shut down...it, at times, made sleep difficult.
I had an amazing first visit to Medellin, and the hotel is perfectly situated. Great neighbourhood to be in - very easy access to some great spots in the city. The staff at the hotel are absolutely amazing, and even though my Spanish is practically non-existent they made me feel right at home. Leidy and the ladies at breakfast were exceptionally warm and wonderful, and they kept me full caffeinated at breakfast.
"5 star" hotel in Colombia's wealthiest city expects you to put toilet paper in the trash can instead of in the toilet, like it is some 5$/day room in a Latin American village. Cheaping out with low flow toilets so they get clogged up easily by what normal people do in the US, EU or any other 1st world country.
Stopped for three nights on a Colombia tour. The hotel is situated in an upmarket suburb of the city. Plenty of amenities near including the huge Santa Fe shopping mall. Although the area is a bit soulless. The hotel has very comfortable rooms oversize beds with a nice shower and after long tours a very comfortable room to come back to. Good connectivity and some great views from the window. Breakfast was excellent one of my favourites in Colombia. Although the dining area is very small for the size of the hotel and you could struggle to get a table. Same in the evening we could not get a table so we ordered room service instead, 90 minutes wait for two sub-standard pizzas wasn't particularly good. Staff are all very helpful and the rooms were spotlessly clean. Communal areas are a bit dark and lack character and the bar area was not very warn and inviting, so we went to the nearby mall instead. Clean comfortable hotel ideal for a short stay city break, served its purpose well for me, but the hotel does lack a bit of character and it's a bit isolated from the city attractions although there is a metro station located about half a mile away.…
We stayed 3 nights in this hotel. Rooms were spacious, bathrooms were small though. The hotel looked new. Yet, it appeared that he hotel didn’t pay attention to its design and details of decorations. In my room, the wooden floor was not properly paved. The floor planks were not correctly sized, leaving some gaps in between. Some planks were not glued to its position and movable. One of the hinge of the bathroom door was loose. The handle knobs of the cupboard were strangely fixed at the lower size just an inch or two above the floor. You had to bend low to open the doors. Besides, because of its position as such, a knob was loosen likely hit by a cleansing staff. Another day it fell off and was placed on desk top without fixing. The same tiny door knobs were used on the ceiling-high wardrobe doors. It was very difficult to pull open the doors with such a small knob. The safe was out of order and was replaced. Our room charges were inclusive of breakfast. Breakfast was expectedly good, with plentiful choice of fruits. Staff were welcoming. The strange thing was that we need to sign a slip on tipping. That slip was not a bill / statement as there were no itemised charges printed. It only suggested a tipping of 10% of the value of the account, but didn’t mention the exact value of the account. As the amount was not sure, we crossed it out. We preferred tipping in cash.…
