I really enjoyed my stay at Los Patios! I loved all of the events they ran during the week, especially the salsa class and bar hopping! Shout out to Juli for being so lovely and warm to my friends and I!
My friend arrived late in Medellin and they wouldn’t let her check in even though I had a room for us and I was the only person who checked in. The guy at the door wouldn’t even listen. Hotels.com tried to call to explain and they wouldn’t pick up . Avoid. Terrible.
We loved this place. We booked a private room and the entire experience from the time we checked in was top tier. The owners clearly thought of everything that would make a hostel "great" and put it in. The check in is swift and gets you connected to their wifi and computer system. Your room key is a bracelet (I loved this, I can't believe I have never seen it elsewhere--avoids the issue of digging the key out of your pack over and over or keeping track of it). The room itself was nicely decorated, clean and comfy with good wifi and plenty of hot water. The only negative was it could have used a ventilation window--there was a fan but it didn't seem to help with the slight stuffiness. The common areas are excellent for gathering, hanging out, and cooking. The kitchen is especially impressive with multiple burners for cooking, multiple sinks, and a pantry storage area. The on-site coffee shop was a good place to eat breakfast. The front desk staff were personable and helpful and their tour company is fabulous. They made it incredibly easy to book the three tours we did in Medellin (exotic fruit tour, comuna 13 tour, Guatape tour). The rooftop bar on our building was good. Bartending was surprisingly slow even though there was hardly anyone there. I can't imagine how long it takes to get a drink when they get busy. Hostel has a bunch of nightly activities that sounds fun. We considered going to the bartender class but ultimately were too worn out from our day to try it. The location is terrific--tons and tons of restaurants close by and the metro stop is a short walk away, as is a big grocery store. Highly recommend this hostel!…
The rooftop is cool but the rooms are EXTREMELY noisy (not just a bit, you feel your bed shaking because of the music) and dirty. Bathrooms are small and dirty, plus we found cockroaches in our closets and BEDS!!!! I asked someone at the reception for some repellent but they didn’t seem to care and gave us nothing obviously
This hostel is very well run by friendly staff (who speak English) and is super clean. They try to do everything to help you have a smooth and easy stay. A/C worked great and plenty of hot water. Some things to keep in mind when staying here. 1. There are now two locations. No big deal, they are around the corner from each other and are both great. (I stayed at the main location). 2. The tour company based inside this hostel is Excellent! I highlight recommend using them. 3. Buy your snacks/food/water outside the hostel if you are on super budget. They are high prices (as many do to help supplement their low room fees). Also the food is kind of slow (no one in front of us and 20 minutes for 2 sandwiches). 4. ONLY suggestion/sort of complaint is that they should not have the private room on the top floor just under the bar. When you are paying a premium for a private room the location should also be considered. The bar is super loud (more on weekends of course) but at least it quiets down by midnight.…
This absolute piece of garbage security guard, spit on me in the lobby on camera. I think the wimp also hit my wife. Then he challenged me to a fight while scurrying backwards like a scared rat. He tried to give his phone to the other security guard before he fought, but the guard would not take it. It's on their lobby cameras. Don't stay with this violent psycho. Read the real reviews. There are many hostels with decent human beings, not guards raised by prostitutes representing Los Patios.
This hostel is really nice, there's just one thing: THE NOISE! Party's on the rooftop, music from the lobby, traffic outside and construction going on across the street. Closing the window didn't help. We barely slept because of it, even with earplugs. This is by far the loudest place I ever stayed in. Other than that: this hostel is really cool, friendly, welcoming and safe. There are plenty of activities (free and paid) and it's a good place to meet other travellers. The neighbourhood is safe and has a lot of nice restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They should really invest in soundproofing (or at least isolating better) in the rooms and then it would be perfect.
Sorry I can’t give 5 stars because of one thing… the noise! I expected it to be more of a party hostel but it’s like… loud loud! Another reviewer described it as trying to fall asleep at a party and that’s bang on. Even with the fan going and earplugs in it felt like I was IN a club and the bass was shaking the bed. The music goes late every night of the week. If you have any interest in going to sleep before 2am this might not be the hostel for you. Everything else about this hostel was amazing though.
Awful.I would leave zero stars if I could, my family and me visited the roftop cafe of this hostel, the first impression with the staff was a lack of politeness, they did not have the slightest courtesy to welcome the customers, I include the kitchen staff, barman and hostess, they do not have a printed menu or public pricing listed , I do not recommend this place, there area lots of cafes in the area, e.g. there´s is a neighboring Bistro called CAMBRIA, the experience for an evening with friends or family, in my opinion, is highly superior.
I loved the location, loved the services, loved the rooftop views, loved my balcony view. HOWEVER, as far as lodging was concerned it was a bit lacking. It was extremely loud at night. I'd seen that in the reviews before I came but it's waaay worse than you're probably imagining it in your head. It's like falling asleep in a party. Plus there weren't near enough towels and for whatever reason there weren't hand towel (we assumed it must've been cultural) That's just me getting the negatives out of the way. I did like that we were able to get our COVID tests there, if you're big on social media then the views you'll get are great, the WIFI was great, the drinks were good and cheap, and the food smelled great even if we didn't indulge in it. I won't lie, I think I'd stay here again because it was a good price, good views, the bed was nice and quite frankly it felt like a nice refuge where I could forget it was in a foreign land.…
