I wouldn't have posted this, but it even made me more upset how the manager in the afternoon (the arrogant one with the beard) dissed me and didn't even respond to my email. My experience at Waypoint Hostel is the worst experience I have ever had at a hostel in my life! The bed bug bites ruined my trip for the next few days. As you can see in the attachments and videos, there were bed bugs in my room. I counted at least 5 of them! I really liked the cleaning ladies. They made me feel comfortable in the mornings, made great breakfasts, and were there for me when I needed anything! They gave me vinegar for the bed bug bites and made me feel welcome and important. I also liked the decor of the hostel and the vibe. I really didn't appreciate the manager during the day- the one with the beard, who is from a nearby town. Although he was nice at certain times, he came across as extremely arrogant! His duty is to make guests feel welcome, and not to insult us. I remember whenever I asked him for anything, he looked annoyed. He didn't take the time to give us proper directions when we asked for them, and we became lost. He was always on the computer, looked annoyed when we asked him for anything, and rushed me when I wanted to purchase anything or ask for directions. I don't know what work on his computer was so important. Also I didn't like his tone of voice when I complained about bed bugs (or really whenever I needed anything), and how he acted like it was my fault there were bed bugs in my room. He accused me of bringing the bed bugs there?! That is a ridiculous accusation because I spent the previous night on a plane and I did not have any bed bug bites on any other night! To be fair, I am sensitive to bug bites, but that still does not excuse them for being at this hostel. Staying at Waypoint Hostel ruined my trip for a few days. The bed bug bites were extremely irritating, and I spent money on medicine to relieve the itching.…
Waypoint is the perfect place to stay for a low cost! The hostel isn't so huge that you can't get to know other travelers, and I ended up making some great friends during my stay. The location is great too, as it is close to EAFIT University and the metro line. Finally, the staff at Waypoint is extremely friendly. Everyone working at Waypoint went out of their way to make sure our stay was great, and helped us get acclimated to Colombia and Medellín. I would definitely recommend Waypoint.
What makes Waypoint outstanding is the service of their staff! Felipe, Emanuel, Sra. Nora, Sra. Gloria, Diego, and all are really really nice. I'm not even exaggerating. They will welcome you as if you're their family/friends. Super helpful and friendly. I will miss Medellin just because of them. My initial plan was to stay here for two nights but I ended up extending it to 11 nights. I will totally recommend this hostel!
Extremely friendly staff, very clean, inexpensive, quiet (both the hostel and the area), close to a Metro-station, good Wifi, comfy beds, ample kitchen and even a pool - this place offers just about everything I would ever ask from a hostel!
Quiet hostel in comparison to the hostels around Poblado, very close to the university EAFIT and the metro station Aguacatala, is also close to the Oviedo and Santa fe shopping center, there is a swimming pool for hot days. The hostal offers shared and private rooms
Very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel very clean and in a safe location. Close to the metro. Very cheap compared to other hotels, great quality for money. Taxi service to get to el poblado from the airport is expensive. I recommend that you get there by bus.
The double bed room was clean, a little small, and too much noise from other guests during the night, mainly because the roof of the room was not completely sealed to the aisle. The hostel was good though, very nice, and the staff very simphathetic. The front door is open 24 hours, wich is good.
The hostel is clean, good staff. The rooms are clean and confortable, but the double room doesn't have much space, but is ok. The place has swimming pool, different areas out and inside the building. There is three bathrooms. I strongly recommend this place to stay if you are looking for good value and good place.
I have been to many hostels in Colombia, and Waypoint Hostel was the best experience for me and my friends. I wanted to stay at a nice, quiet hostel but near poblado area and I think I was in the perfect place, because Lleras park is noisy. We enjoyed the pool inside the hostel. The room was so clean, the staff is awesome and very useful!!! I will come back soon and recommend my friends to come to Waypoint Hostel.
This has truly been one of the best hostels I have ever stayed at. It wasn't too big but you were able to get to know new people. It was safe and the people working at the hostel were always open for a chat, kind and knew who you were. It's located close to university EAFIT, to supermarkets, shopping malls, the metro, and anything you'd need. This is most certainly the hostel to be, if you're searching for one in Medellín!
