This would be a wonderful hotel, provided they cut all ties immediately with the IHG brand, as they fail to live up to IHG standards. I completed a stay 2/24-2/27 of 2023, as an IHG Diamond member and Ambassador. I paid for the stay with a cash rate, specifically the Ambassador complimentary weekend night rate, so I could redeem a free night award certificate. The front desk staff affirmed upon check in that the free night award would be applied, and that I would be promptly reimbursed 1 of the 3 nights immediately upon checkout. It’s worth noting the Ambassador complimentary weekend night rate actually costs more money per night than other cash rates available, so it would only make sense to use that rate type if you’re saving a lot of money from the free night reimbursement. It's been over 1 month since checking out, and the Intercontinental has yet to reimburse me. I’ve made several calls to IHG, opened case numbers, and still nothing. They continue telling corporate IHG what they want to hear, while modifying the payment details without my knowledge or consent. Either, this property has staff that lack a basic fundamental understanding of processing reservations, or worse, they deliberately misled me on the nightly rate so that I’d pay more money per night without getting reimbursed. In other words, fraud. Medellin is a truly wonderful city, and Las Palmas is a great neighborhood. This hotel should be the last place perpetuating the stereotype of theft when you visit Colombia. There was hair on the inside of my shower, had to call twice to get towels sent to the room (there were zero at check in). Key stopped working on day 2/4. There was a rose left on the windowsill (the ones from the street vendors), which honestly I don't care about but is indicative of the attention to detail.

Price quality of this hotel isnot correct. The rooms are ok, but a lot of little things are missing, to charge your phone next to your bed isnot possible, just a small example and the bathroom is extremely small. Breakfast is until 10ths but at 9.30 hrs, the buffet is empty. Employees are extremely kind, but the management should look at how to make the guests happy, not only how to make money.

We stayed in a suite at the Intercontinental Medellin. The whole hotel is old and tired. Furniture is old and stained. Rooms are dark without enough lights. Even worse the AC didn't work in the first suite and after a sleepless night with a temperature over 75 we moved to a new room. Then after one good night the AC stopped working in the second room. It took four trips up by the engineer before they would even acknowledge that it wasn't working.

Our last hotel stay of 2022 and our first time Medellin. As a diamond ambassador we received a corner suite upgrade with a decent view for 4 nights. The room itself was spacious but a bit outdated and could use a facelift. There is a closet in the bedroom that only opens halfway because the bed and nightstand are a little too close. We noticed that the bathroom would sometimes have a sewer like smell so we kept the windows open to circulate air. The lounge upgrade is worth it if you are planning to spend a little more time in the hotel as the afternoon and evening options were plentiful. The lounge staff was excellent and all provided great service. If you only want breakfast the complimentary breakfast for all guests has a great spread, so no need to add the lounge. The biggest negative about this property is that its location doesn't have a lot of walkable things nearby. Ubers/taxis are very reasonable but in a new city you want to be able to walk and have things close. To get into fun parts of town (like El Poblado) you have to do about 15-20 minutes of walking (and a lot is uphill) Overall, it felt more like a hotel targeted to business travellers.…

I stayed for 4 nights on my first trip to Medellin in this hotel. As an ambassador member I was upgraded to a suite which was located on the corner. The room had gorgeous views towards the city. The breakfast was outstanding and is included as standard. I didn’t receive toiletries and the outstanding spa with the beautiful swimming pool are closing rather early (6:30). The rooms are a bit outdated and the hotel needs a bit of rejuvenation. However, I strongly recommend this hotel. Service was great, location excellent and amenities were outstanding.
