I am giving this Hotel 2 Stars because the room I Reserved was supposed to be a luxury Junior Suite, and it was NOT. The room was small, the Furniture was worn out and Old, the TV sound system was terrible, the wooden floor was full of scratches everywhere, the bathroom faucet was broken and the Room Amenities is poor. The breakfast was Average, compared to other hotels of the same class and lower. The hotel has a pretty big swimming pool, the hotel staff, specially the Restaurant/bar/room service staff is accommodating and Friendly, the hotel is located near bars and restaurants. But sadly, the price of the rooms, is too high for what it really is. The rooms are really, really basic and have ZERO Luxury. I have stayed in much cheaper hotels that had more Amenities and Luxury with bigger rooms. I've travelled all over the World, stayed in many hotels, and this hotel was a disappointment. Reviews Ok. Just ok. But probably better than many options. If you start out with the premise and understanding that in Medellin, 5 stars is closer to what i3.5 stars is in any other decent and developed city, then you won’t be disappointed. This hotel is not 5 stars. The good: Breakfast: It’s decent. Solid. There are Various options from hot to cold it and looks like they actually put in an effort. The breakfast staff seem to be the friendliest and hustling members of the staff. 4 stars. Wi-Fi. Seems to be pretty strong despite some other reviews. I was able to conduct some Skype and zoom meetings from the room with little to no issue. However. I think certain types of sites are blocked…that’s fair. 4 stars. The bad: The room: No tissues. No washcloths. No hairdryer. 2 towels and hand towels. One small tube of crappy lotion and shampoo and two small bars of soap. No conditioner. No other toiletries. No clock or alarm in the room. No pen or notepad….And this was in a junior suite! No complimentary anything…water, in-room coffee, turn-down service, plates, utensils, welcome phone call to check in on you…nada. Again, I’m basing this on what you’d expect from 5 stars. Even a 3-star Marriott would have and do all of these things. You have to call for everything. And then call again. And then call again. I needed ice…after many tries and 2 hours later, I got ice. I needed my safe/security box unlocked so that I could actually put stuff in and lock it before I left. After many tries and 1.5 hours later, someone finally showed up. Meaning I was trapped there unable to go my prior engagement that entire time. Shower gets blistering hot for a few mins at a time during every shower…I don’t know how they let this persist and and haven’t been sued from here to eternity. The Fancy remote-controlled blinds are nice, but if the thermostat/air regulation was actually stronger, I’d give it up for that and manually close my own blinds. Bed was just ok. Walls are super thin…you can hear closet doors slamming incessantly and escorts faking it left and right. 2 stars. Staff: a few are friendly and into customer service but half of them could not care less…again not the 5 stars you would see from well trained staff in other hotels/cities. There’s in particular one lady that sits at a prominent spot near the elevators at the front desk who literally can’t help you with anything. She always directs you to the other 2 overwhelmed front desk people to assist. She just stares at her monitor and can’t assist or address any guests’ issue. It’s baffling. Cleaning staff are friendly and really do a great job replenishing everything and sweeping/mopping. However, it feels like cleaning goes well into the late afternoon/evening. I mean it’s not like they have coffee pods and a ton of toiletries to replenish! No wonder they cannot accommodate any early check-ins even at 2pm. I watched them deny early checkin to dozens of people while I was waiting in my room as well. This is absurd…at 2pm?? Something w the room availabilities is being mis-managed…and this is not in the cleaning staff. Again, if you dealt w this at a holiday inn, you’d understand and say I got what I paid for….this isn’t 5 stars. Staff Overall, 3 stars. Pool/Gym: Pool is beautiful and the area kept clean, there’s also a nice adjacent hot tub…but you always have to spend 5-10 mins looking around for the attendant to get a towel. And he brings just one. You have to specifically ask for two each time, even though it’s pretty universally known that you lay on one and you dry off with another. Why not just leave a huge stack of towels out multiple times a day, for guests to help themselves?? Again these are management/admin issues, and not directed at specific staff. The Gym is also nice and cleanly maintained. It’s got what you need for weights. The best and most beautiful part are the cycling bikes and treadmills that are in an outdoor extension…it’s a beautiful al fresco workout overlooking the pool. Overall 4 stars. Metro: the closest metro station, Poblado, is 18 mins walk away (although everyone keeps saying it’s 10-15mins away) and it is downhill (uphill in return) so it’s not really the most feasible option for multiple times a day excursions. But it’s solid and relatively easy to use and understand. Good for once a day maybe for the longer trips somewhere. 4 stars. Overall this is a 3/3.5 hotel…but frankly there don’t appear to be a ton of much better options…at least in Poblado. Medellin is beautiful and has a lot to offer and a lot to be seen. However, the lodging situation is a separate matter and leaves a lot to be desired.…

Very good, traditional hotel, with a magnificent swimming pool, and the best buffet breakfast I have ever had. Except the coffee which is not good. They have a high quality international food restaurant. To begin with, they offer a spectacular black truffle butter. If you like pork, don't miss the pork ribs as a starter.A very comfortable traditional hotel

I was there for 10 days. One of the reasons I reserved it because they have a Jacuzzi for my physical therapy and when I got there it doesn’t work and I talk to everybody in management that they promise that they will fix it and they never did very bad management for a big hotel like this, I’ll never go back again and I will not recommend it to no one

This hotel is very centrally located, but that is about all it has going for itself. Our trip lasted four nights and it seemed that there was an issue about every single day. On our first day we were off to a good start with the hotel allowing us to check-in about 45 minutes early. Our group had three rooms and they graciously allowed us to all stay on the same floor. Our first issue started with a towel request. We had three individuals in our room with two towels so we asked the front desk if they could send one up while we went out. Arriving four hours later there was still no towel sent. Went back downstairs to pick one up and we were assured one would be sent…. Nothing! Our second issue was the shower. You can pace the shower to a perfect temperature and after about 30 seconds you get water that would boil your skin followed by an “ice bucket challenge” right after. This goes on constantly, so you are having to go in and out of the shower to avoid burns and hypothermia. Never got an answer as to why this happens but it wasn’t a dealbreaker. Our next issue was with the hotel management staff. We had a small child in our group who was not a fan of Colombian cuisine. There is a really nice burger place across the street so we purchased chicken strips and brought them over. As the child was eating in the lobby longe area a member of the wait staff came over and explained that her boss was making her come and tell us that we needed to leave the area immediately. Confused by the situation we kindly asked the waitress to send the member of management over so that we could get an explanation. The manager reluctantly came over and stated that we needed to leave the area because the hotel would not be responsible if we got sick from the food that was being eaten. After attempting to explain the situation about the five year old the manager grew visibly frustrated and said “people do work and conduct business in this area its not for eating” we apologized and pointed out two other tables where people were eating and got brushed off. We are totally fine with moving but the approach by the manager really missed in this case. After he left the waitress came by and apologized profusely, stating that he was the general manager’s “right hand man” and that he would constantly throw his weight around. The breakfast area has a nice selection of fruits and entrees to choose from . The wait staff walks around aimlessly and they avoid eye contact so that you can’t ask for additional silverware or drinks. On a side note be mindful of the wildlife on the outside seating area. You will have to fight birds and squirrels for your food. We were able to snap a few pictures of a squirrel eating from a plate that was left unattended. We even looked for the rude manager to ask which would make us more sick , sharing with a squirrel or a burger from across the street. The front area of the hotel consistently has taxis waiting which is a huge plus. The checkout was fairly quick and easy. Make sure you leave a couple of extra minutes in your schedule as someone from the hotel needs to physically inspect your room before you go. No issues with the process. Overall this place isn’t horrible, but I would probably recommend going elsewhere. Colombia in general hangs their hat on service and it seems like this place lacks it in several key areas.…

I was in Medellin for a business trip and stayed at the Dann Carlton. I wouldn't normally write a review for a business trip, but there were so many terrible reviews for the Dann Carlton that I was prepared for a real second-class experience. Instead the hotel and all of the staff (front desk, cleaning, concierge, serving staff), were great. The restaurants were nice and the food was good. The room was modern and very pleasant. There was some noise from adjacent rooms but that was brief.

Fantastic hotel! Beautiful lobby, room and good breakfast buffet. The staff was friendly and hard working. It’s in a good proximity to the city center. The cleanliness and finishes were exceptional! Would definitely stay here again. They also have a great gym! We also enjoyed the pool area.

When i arrived at this hotel it looked better than the website pictures. Friendly staff and it was a quick registration process. Thank you Diana(House Keeping), Giovanny(Doorman) and Juan Camilo(Computer Specialist) they were very helpful and went out of their way to make my stay relaxing and stress free. I had a few minor problems with my room but they were very quick to repair the problems. I called for an iron/ board and they brought both items to my room quickly. The breakfast was okay, because they didn't have much of a choice for a vegetarian until my last day at the hotel. I was impressed! Thank you again for making my stay comfortable.

The building and location is just fabulous. However, for a such a well known hotel it was lacking in amenities. Basic necessities like an iron, shower caps, non-working safe, non-working TV remote were lacking. The staff are helpful and responsive. The restaurant we visited was just awful. They did not charge us for an asian fried rice dish which was saltier than the dead sea! It would be helpful if the reception would provide some advice/tips to tourists about how to go about the town and recommend tourist guides/services.

The hotel looks dated and the services at not at par with hotels of this level and costs. I stayed in a suite and there was not even a bottle of water as a courtesy, there were not glasses in the bathroom. Not an iron and ironing board. Breakfast was very basic, with no options to order eggs or something similar. The restaurant was good, but the service very slow.
