My fiancé and I stayed in the private room in this hostel for 2 nights when visiting Medellín. The staff were really welcoming and friendly and gave us good tips about the area. It’s in a great location as it’s close enough to the bars and restaurants (15min walk) but not too close so that it’s noisy. It’s also a 5min walk from the train station which gets you further into the centre. The breakfast served in the morning was also very good and they had a veggie option too. The room was clean but I feel like it could have had a ‘touch up’, such as a new shower curtain as this looked very old and used and also perhaps find a way to try and ventilate the room a little better as it got very stuffy in the day. They did however provide 2 fans for the room which helped.
Blackpine is an excellent hostel, well placed to explore Medellin. I stayed in the two different private rooms they had, both were exemplary and more than I expected. The staff are so friendly and lovely, they even gave me a birthday cake (I arrived two days after my birthday). We felt so at home and really were upset to leave. The kitchen is fantastic - we cooked all our meals. While the hostel doesn’t do laundry, there’s a hostel around the corner they will point you to which is fairly priced. Overall Blackpine is not to be missed, if we were ever to come back to Medellin it would be to blackpine.
Great hostel! Couldn't reccommend this more... The staff is superfriendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and it's located in a nice neighbourhood. It's about a 15' walk to the centre of Poblado and we never felt unsafe walking the streets at night. The rooms are spacious, clean and offer highspeed internet. Bathrooms are plentiful and very clean as well. This is not a party hostel at all and the hostel was quiet after 10pm. Will return for sure.
We had 7 nights at Blackpine over two stays and this was our quietest hostel after Jardin. First two nights were in a double room with shared bathroom. I have never seen such clean communal bathrooms & toilets. Our 5 nights were in the Orangewood room, private double with ensuite. It had a small window onto the courtyard area but had a good stand up fan. To our surprise we had a flat screen TV with Netflix. Bonus. Everyday you select your breakfast option for the next day. Breakfast is not big but more than enough for a normal eating person. There is a large common room with TV and Netflix available, along with a computer. Well equipped kitchen and large fridge. There are lots of lockers right near the reception for peopke to use. Straight across the road there are about 6 eating places. Cheap to mid range from pizza, burgers, Mexican and Mr Arepas. Very handy and good food. Don’t bother with the Blackpine coffee shop, they use pods not real coffee. Hostel is about 10 minute walk to Poblado metro and 20 minutes to Poblado square. There is a good supermarket about 7 minutes walk towards the square. Hostel will help organise tours and transport to airport for you. They don’t do laundry but about 5 minutes walk is Grand Hostel and they do a full bag for 30000 Peso. Most staff speak a fair about of English. Would highly recommend. …
Our stay at BlackPine Hostel was fantastic. The hostel itself was safe (front gate locked at all times; opened by staff for guests entering/exiting), clean, and modern. The staff were excellent; they spoke fluent English and Spanish and bent over backwards to ensure our stay was comfortable. We went through the staff to book tours, order taxis, and get advice on local attractions. We had a great time at BlackPine Hostel and we'd happily stay there again.
A friendly welcome, spacious rooms, selflessly clean bathrooms, modern clean kitchen, free coffee, plentiful toilets per guests, fan in the room, nice cosy common areas and a breakfast. If one improvement could be made I would recommend fresh juice and more options at breakfast.
Great location just a few minutes walk from Poblado metro station and a little further up the hill to central Poblado where all the bars and restaurants are. There’s a decent coffee shop next door and a very good arepa joint just opposite, try the arepa paisa . . . . . mmmmmm!! We booked the double room which was fairly compact, but certainly fine for two people. There’s a comfortable (firm) double bed, small writing table, fast free wifi, flat screen tv with netflix, and a fan to cool the room down. It was also one of the first rooms we’ve stayed in on this trip that had sufficient power outlets by providing a multiple outlet extension cord . . . . sometimes it’s the little things that make a difference! Bathroom was similarly compact but nicely laid out and spotlessly clean. There’s a nice outdoor seating area outside the room which is a good spot for breakfast, and while some guests did congregate in this area later in the evening, the noise was always finished by the time we wanted to go to sleep. The simple complimentary breakfast changes each day and you get a couple of choices for which you need to indicate your preference the night before. While we didn’t use it, there’s a really well appointed kitchen if you want to cook your own meals, along with a shared fridge. Security at the hostel is top notch with staff on site to let guests in and out of the secured compound, and the staff themselves are fantastic, really friendly, helpful and professional. If we had any suggestions for improvements it would be to provide some shelves or a small cupboard in the room for guests to unpack some clothes, and for a few hooks or a towel rail to be installed in the bathroom. Overall we felt the hostel delivered exactly what it advertised and we would happily stay here again and recommend to other travellers.…
Black pine was a really nicely done hostel. Comfy beds, plenty of fans (wasn't quite hot enough to need air conditioning while we were there), choice of breakfasts that can be slightly adapted to suit you if necessary. Usually fruit and yogurt or an egg based meal (Cooked in bulk then served on plates with your name on - you can use the microwave to reheat if needed). Worked well! Great kitchen, well stocked with necessities and sauces etc. Netflix on the tv! Staff were amazing, let me have a cold shower after we'd checked out when they saw me overheating! Also it was the cleanest hostel I've ever stayed in, cleaners were constantly ontop of it!
We stayed here for a week and I can't fault anything about this hostel! Great location, friendly staff, clean spacious rooms, very secure, hot plentiful showers, comfy common areas inside with big Tv and Netflix, pretty outdoor areas to chill and eat and have a drink- great modern kitchen! Also, while we were here there were also super friendly chilled guests - everyone seemed really lovely and respectful of eachother! Excellent value for what you get ☺️ breakfast is also included and free tea and coffee all day which is good cos many places in Colombia don't have breakfast included - I would say though that breakfast is often very small so bring some more if you need a big breakfast!
Super great hostel! We had a really warm welcome and comfortable stay, including all the help and very nice tips and suggestions about Colombia of the friendly and very hospitable employees! Our first impression of Colombia couldn't have been better. We booked for 2 nights and decided to stay 2 more. Besides BlackPine was very clean and beautifully designed. We will recommend all our friends who plan to visit Colombia to stay in BlackPine!
