Always stay at the Empress for New Year’s Eve and Day. Love this place. Staff extremely friendly and accommodating. Stay over the pool and rooms are always clean and fresh. Does need updating especially for their prices but all in all excellent stay again. The Copper Bar and Paradise Nightclub which are connected to hotel absolutely wonderful place to party or just grab a cocktail. One issue I had and have every New Year’s Eve is that patrons of the hotel have to walk outside around the block to enter club instead of just entering from the lobby which becomes a nuisance when it’s cold snowing or raining. A special shout out to Kris and all the front lobby staff. Beautiful wonderful people. Happy New Year Everyone and Thankyou once again. See ya in the summer and definitely next New Year’s Eve. ❤️🥳😊…
My wife and I stayed here for a show at the Stone Pony, which is conveniently less than a block away. The hotel is clean and well maintained. Rooms show their age, as bathroom is extremely small. Tub shower was tight for a bigger guy like myself. Bed was very comfortable. Room was very clean, but dated. Our only complaint was the HVAC had a small leak, which had the carpet around it wet. Since we were only staying one night, we did not notify the front desk until check-out. Continental breakfast (muffins, danish, bagels, fruit, coffee) is available on weekends. Hotel is directly across the street from the beach, and what appears to be some in-season shopping and dining. Except for the Italian restaurant on the corner, most shops are closed this time of year. All in all, it was a pleasant stay, and we would look to stay here again.…
Hi ! I came here to see a show at the Stone Pony. Place is 2 blocks away I was able to park in their small parking lot; there are warnings it won’t accommodate all guests. There are spots marked as ‘do not park’, they are serious, do not park in the ‘do not park’ zone. The Empress has a worn look to her. But clean. My room was small, and one of the lights was out. There were few free electric outlets, and I had to unplug something to plug my appliance in. There’s a small bathroom. The toilet tissue was strangely under the sink. The sink’s cold and hot water taps were reversed from the usual. But as I found out, the water was as you expect it; the ‘hot’ and ‘cold’ knobs were on the wrong taps. They have WiFi, but it didn’t reach the 4th (top) floor where I stayed. There is a (gay) nightclub on the first floor. You can hear it even in the 4th floor. OK, so why 3 stars after my complaining ? Location, price and a nice staff. I’d definitely come back, knowing it’s limitations.…
The Empress Hotel has a cool kitschy vibe. Room was small but clean and had a great view. The “nite club” sucked. The security people ruined our night. I hate discrimination of any type. As a guest of the hotel I expected better service from the staff of the “club”. The security staff made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. They embarrassed me in front of my friends. I’m 55. Silver hair. Obviously over 21. They let everyone in my group in and insisted I go back upstairs and get my ID. At check in I was told I just needed my room key and a pass they gave us to get in. It gets worse. I went up and got my ID. They let me in. I paid for drinks and my friend and I were dancing when another “security” person asked to see my wristband. I was not given one when I came back in. They made me go back to the entrance, show my ID again and get the wristband. I was staying at they hotel to visit my high school friends. Yes, we’re older (55+) and we should not be treated this way. It’s disrespectful, unprofessional and rude. I won’t be back.…
Every time we go to Asbury we stay at the Empress! You can not beat the location! The pool is a also a big win for us. Stay for the drag show on Sunday! You won't be sorry! There is a club in the hotel but it's never been a problem. If you want somewhere quiet and less of a party atmosphere I'd suggest another hotel BUT I would never stay anywhere but the empress!
Very loud band noise penetrated room on 4th floor until 2am. Parking on site is somewhat limited. Otherwise good staff and close to beach. Good restaurants nearby. Can, say anything else. Price for group rate was very good
Although this hotel is slightly outdated it is IMMACULATE, which is what I care about most. The staff couldn’t be friendlier and are always willing to go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. The location is perfect for all Asbury has to offer whether beachside or downtown you are within walking distance. The club/pool party never disturbed us or prevented us from sleeping like babies. You won’t be sorry, give them a call
You are welcomed by a friendly, efficient staff. The rooms are clean, beautiful ocean views, you can leave the sliding door open and be lulled by the sound of the waves. Crystal clear pool with a stocked tiki bar. Walk across the street and you are on the boardwalk and beach.
We checked in on 8/9/22. Once we got to the room we opened a cabinet door to find broken burnt glass. It was obviously used for drugs and not wanting the hotel to think we were the ones who used it, we reported it. A very friendly worker came up to see for himself. Once he came up with us we were unable to enter the room because the lock had reset itself. Their master key wouldn’t open the door. Hotel maintenance had to come to reprogram the door. In the mean time the desk clerk was able to enter the room via another room’s balcony. Once in, he did confirm it was a meth pipe. We asked to be moved to another room and were able to move a few doors down. It was not the best first impression and we did think about leaving. However, we thought we would stick it out and give the place a chance. The hotel itself is very conveniently located and for the most part is clean ( it can use some updates such as wallpaper peeling). The housekeeping did skip us one day, I’m not sure why. The desk gave us pool towels to use, which wasn’t a big deal. The room is spacious and the bed is comfortable. The TVs are small and don’t get reception well. The WIFI does not work. We tried four different devices and they all said that the router needed to be reset. We let the desk know but there wasn’t any improvement. We had heard others comment on this as well. There is a small parking lot for the hotel. Since we checked in on a Tuesday we were able to find parking there. If you do not find a spot there, there is a lot across the street that is $15 a day ( as of 8/22). Considering I’ve stayed at hotels were parking is $50+ a day, $15 isn’t bad. The staff (with the exception of the poolside bartender) was extremely out going and friendly. The entertainment in the hotel was very entertaining. Drag bingo was quite enjoyable and the bartender in both the smaller club and Paradise were awesome. I wouldn’t rule out staying there again,…
I was very disappointed with my stay, first off I came for four nights with my family and a couple things that I was disappointed by. Number one the there was no cable and there is very limited channels available. Number two there’s no breakfast included during the week we said Monday through Friday. Number three there was no refrigerator to put my drinks in. Number four the people were extremely nasty at the pool and we’re ready to charge my me and my entire family $50 to get in. There was hair on one of the rooms that I went into in the bathroom was not clean properly. as everyone knows a vacation for the family you save money for I felt like the money that I spent on this vacation was not well worth it for this hotel I will not be staying again.
