Disclaimer: I didn't find Atlantic City to be a nice place. My wife and I were only there for a friend's birthday party. We heard that check-in at AC's "resort" hotels can be lengthy, and found them all overpriced anyway. We chose the Chelsea because it was a boutique hotel in a historic building. For a one-night stay in a ragtag city, it suffices. The lobby is adorable, as are the art-filled hallways. Our room was surprisingly small and quite average in terms of decor, but it was quiet, especially as we were on the top floor. (Bring only light luggage: no elevators here!) Staff was friendly but lax. The Chelsea could be really charming if it had gracious service, a cozy pub (as opposed to the sad dive bar on the ground floor), and nicer breakfasts in the dining area. At least offer coffee and tea in the lobby or guest rooms. When we asked about this, the chain-smoking, blue-haired lady at the front desk just laughed at us and said "Go to Dunkin'!" That sums up our Chelsea experience.…
On a recent trip to Atlantic City we decided to stay at the Chelsea instead of one of the casinos. We will be staying here from now on. We loved everything about this beautiful B&B. Great location, lovely room, and very friendly host. They have their own parking lot and even a pub downstairs.
My husband and I recently spent the weekend in Atlantic City. What a gem the Chelesea Inn is!! So much better than staying in a casino hotel. It is close to the beach, the rooms are clean and the staff was wonderful. The lobby has items from the early days of Atlantic City and really was comfortable. Also, we had a delicious breakfast in the morning. Would highly recommend staying there.
This was a tough one to review because if I could transport this place somewhere else it would be a 5 star. I used to take weekend getaways in Atlantic City regularly but haven't been there in a bit. I used to feel safe waking near the hotels but not any more. We had a concert to attend and staying in a casino was very pricey on a Saturday night so I booked at The Chelsea. It's like stepping back in time when you walk in. I love all the antique decor, the architecture and that each room is different. Our room had a comfortable four post king bed and was very clean. We went down to the bar and had a couple drinks before we checked in and the bartender was very attentive. We had the complimentary breakfast in the morning and it was okay. There was bacon, scrambled (powdered) eggs, cereals and you could make your own waffle. The downside. While I love the authenticity of the claw foot tub, it is not comfortable for showering. The curtain that surrounds the tub is constantly touching you and clinging to you as you try to shower because it was quite narrow, The location of the hotel is great. It is across from the Tropicana which is nice but even that small walk did not feel safe. I am glad that we did not stay in the casino because it was complete chaos. I was happy to be in our quiet little place after the show and really appreciated the security of needing a key to get in the front door. I also like that they had their own free, permit parking lot for those staying at the hotel. Not their fault but around 3am I was woken up to screaming. There were 3 cars in back of my car, blocking the lot with people just hanging out there. They were extremely loud and lasted at least an hour but I guess that's what you get in this area. We also were driving down the street and saw cops with guns drawn. It's definitely a little scary in that area and very dirty. We saw men urinating on the sides of building right in front of everyone. I doubt I will be back in AC any time soon but if I am, I would stay here again.…
Cute little place next to the Tropicana 2 blocks walk from the boardwalk. Free parking at the inn. Loved the morning breakfast and the area it was served. We were also able to enjoy the fenced in patio full of beautiful flowers and small trees (here you almost couldn't tell you were in AC). Renee, at the front desk was very friendly and helpful with questions and concerns. Would for sure stay here again - we had midweek stay and the Inn was so quiet. No elevators , so for those who can do a flight of stairs-request the first floor.
My wife and I enjoyed 1 night at the Chelsea Pub and Inn in Atlantic City. The rooms are very cozy and comfortable. It is very affordable and reasonable. The complimentary breakfast food and coffee is delicious. We like the property and the renovations that were completed. Well managed. We recommend the Chelsea Pub and Inn to anyone looking to spend a relaxing and enjoyable get away. Tom and Donna 11/13/21
Pros: room was beautiful and well appointed, bathroom large with shower and soaking tub. Inn well kept and beautiful Cons: where to start? Paid over $500/night to stay here, A/C stopped working so we sweated while getting ready to go out and rude managers response to my complaint was “you’re welcome to check out” what??? Horrible and dangerous area. They have THREE bars attached to the inn, one open 24/7, resulting in drunk patrons outside your window yelling till 5am, honking horns, police sirens, and the smell of weed constantly. They sit all over the entrance steps too making it very difficult to enter/exit the inn. Touted as a B&B but absent the pleasant, welcoming feeling I usually get from them. Spent a fortune for two nights (over $1100) and felt like I was ripped off. Avoid and while you’re at it avoid AC altogether, it’s a dung heap.…
The hotel is really for the young, i dont recommend it to Senior Citizens if your room is reserved on the 3rd floor. Otherwise, the rooms are clean, no telephones, no coffee maker or microwave. The front office is closed in the evenings, so make sure you have your key to go back into the hotel. The breakfast is awesome, but starts at 9am. So if you want a coffee earlier you have to go outside and walk a block away where there is a diner opened at 7am. Not a safe place to walk at night. I had a little frustration with the manager while checking in, since I had reserved 2 rooms one room for myself and my sister, and one room for my parents, my dad 87 years old my mom 80 years old. I used my credit card for $150.00 each room hold "for incidents" but the manager refused since my parents had no credit card to use for their room?? I had to change my parents room to my name on Hotels.com making waiting for the room very upsetting. Also my parents room was very small, nothing like the pictures shown on their website. As soon as you opened the door, it would hit the bed. So if you have seniors that can not walk up those 3 floors of stairs, no air conditioner in the hotel only in the bedrooms, find another hotel. I requested that my parents room to be changed to the first floor, but the manager said I would have to pay an "Upgrade" of $50.00, so we declined. Otherwise it is really for those who dont mind the inconveniences. …
Everything you could want from a bed and breakfast. Owners/staff were beyond accommodating, super friendly and made this short say memorable. Rooms are secure. The bathroom was renovated and felt super clean and fresh. Bed was extremely comfortable. No odors. Vet comfortable temps. And the place is just steps from the beach. You can even see the ocean from the front steps! I'll be back !
I love old buildings filled with antiques and unique decor and the Chelsea Pub & Inn did not disappoint. We were 1 block from the beach, boardwalk, and casinos. The room was "squeaky clean" and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was provided and if you just wanted to stay in, there is a huge bar and restaurant downstairs. Overall, we had a great experience and can't wait to go back. Worth the 11 hour drive from South Carolina.
