The general manager, Maria, was excellent and took good care of all our needs and desires. The bed had no box springs so was pretty hard, but it was helped by the good bed pad that provided decent comfort. The comforter was not long enough for my tall husband so we turned it sideways, which solved that problem, but then...

The four us arrived for a quick lunch to escape the scorching Timorese midday sun. We had cruised by this hotel the day before and thought "why not!!". We were ushered upstairs by a what appeared to be a staff member (still not sure because we never saw her again) and sat at a table on the verandah overlooking a...

Very accommodating. Great service with free airport transfers. My plane arrived about 0720 and somebody from hotel was waiting for me. I was also allowed immediate access to my room plus free breakfast on the day of arrival and next day even though only paying 1 night accommodation. I returned a week later for 1 more night and was greeted...

Stayed here more than 5 nights, used it as a stepping stone to visit other parts of Timor. BreKfast is basic but comforting. All service staff are really friendly. In terms of location it is ideal, You are really close to the coastline! Spent the evenings just walking by the beach, many restaurants just nearby. Famous cresto rei is also...

Great experience! The rooms are clean, nicely decorated with shells and stones, have Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a fridge and different international plugs so you'll have no problem charging your electrical devices (cameras, computer, cellphone...). Dinners are not expensive and tasty, breakfasts are simple but good enough. There's a very nice beach just across the street. So far, so great, but...

Booked over the net and pick up fom airport was good. Room musty and dark with no outside window, bathroom very average and hot water intermittant. Resturant only just OK and a bit pricey, stayed three days then found a MUCH better place further up the beach towards the statue.

Remember this is a developing 3rd world country so don't have high expectations. Most of what other reviewers have said is true (no one has mentioned the free condom dispensor!) but put it in that context and its just great - we loved it and would return. The staff were friendly and obliging, the local restaraunts (4 within 5 mins...

This hotel could do with a few improvements! It's only $80 US per night but breakfast is extremely basic. There is only apple juice, tea and really bad coffee! There is bread, rolls and jam. Some noodles are also available and some type of egg omelette which was dry. The rooms are small and basic but do have air conditioners,...

Dili, the capital of East Timor (Timor-Leste) is a small town. From the airport to this gem is roughly 8KM. A taxi ride costs USD5 but usually a pick-up is arranged. Great hotel with only two floors. Hot water available in showers. Don't let the country's infrastructure fool you...wifi and cable also available. Simple breakfast in the morning. Laundry services...

This being East Timor, resources and tourists are both scarce, so don't expect bang for your bucks. After recognizing that, Hotel California is quite agreeable, with ample sized and equipped rooms, sea view restaurant and driver ready to send you to and from its faraway location. However, the staff didn't seem to have good local knowledge like on Atauro ferry,...
