We had a fine 3 day stay at Renais Fenua. Our room was comfortable and clean. Syrill helped us along the way and spoke enough English to make things work. The food is excellent, dinners are highly recommended. The baguette was superb,as was the wonderful fresh fruit served at breakfast. The charming gardens and small pool were a pleasant place to relax. This lovely pension is recommended for the budget conscious visitor who does not require great luxury and may not be fluent in French.
I staid twice in the pension during my visit in Polynesia, my first impressions were good but after visiting other islands I returned for one night there and my stay was completely different: It seems that the two French employees are nice only if they can sell either an excursion, a car or a meal otherwise they do not even dare to say hello to you. They leave the pension empty between 2 and 6 pm and do not return in the evening, this means that if your plane is late at night - often the case- you have to wait till the cook comes in the evening to use the bathroom and get your stuff. The pension is very very far from Papeete, they offer you either to rent a car (through them) or to use a taxi - always the same- for a price which is not always the same (between 6.000 and 7.000 xpc which is a very heavy price). This taxi man drives you, charges you the full price but uses the ride to pick up other customers for the same price again at the time it fits his agenda-must be a very rentable job for him. He feels like at home in the pension, taking what he wants from the fridge instead of caring about you... I could not sleep a single hour in the last night my air conditioning wasn’t working - but nobody was there in the evening to report the problem, as I mentioned it the day after I was told what it still not repaired? - so the problem was known but as I arrived the manager preferred finish her meal instead of saying hello to me, she left the taxi driver bring me to my room so she obviously did not mentioned the air conditioning... One very positive thing though the 3 Polynesian girls working in the pension are very nice helpful and competent - they deserve more than a plus, I thing the two French employees should learn a bit from Polynesian hospitality which is mostly the reason why we want to travel there...…
Iorana, Thank you Sabrina and staff..you have been most helpful to our group from Aotearoa/New Zealand. All our arrangements by email were completely met by you and your team. We appreciated having a warm welcome, friendly faces, and helpful service for our short stay. Rooms were exactly what we needed, clean, tidy and sufficient for our two night short stay. Mauruuru korua...Would recommend this place to anyone who wants clean, simple accomodation with great hosts...!
We chose this hotel after returning from a cruise on the Paul Gauguin. We did not have a car and were looking for a relaxing day before flying home. We took a taxi from the port 40$ and were met with a friendly smile. The hotel is not fancy, but it was clean, had a fridge, and a microwave. We were told of a couple options walking from the hotel. To the left about 10 min was a city park and beach. On the way was a small grocery store with fresh baguettes and drinks. To the right is a fantastic food truck that opens at 6 enroute to a beautiful beach again on a public park. This was a nice day, relaxing with some walkable choices. If you are looking for glamour and over the water, this is not it. But a relaxing, clean, and friendly location this works fine.
This place is nice & close to the beach but far from the pier. It is clean & nice & quiet. The staff were very helpful. They offer breakfast & dinner if you want. The stores are not very far. Beautiful sunset view from the beach.
