Excellent food and service. We had the Gucci Masala which is a rarity from the Kashmir region. The veg pulao was also outstanding. Mumtazir was a very cordial host! We just flew into Kashmir and we’re very tired. But ambience was worth it!

Breakfast times…with choices of different eats course is sumptuous & filling! Staff with Warm hospitality and personal attention to each table equally adds to fervorism. And in staff the star ‘Saima’ rocks.

All this place has is location. Nothing else. Nestled in the hill tops of Srinagar overlooking the lake. The view is stunning. Sadly that’s all it has. The rooms are unclean. The staff are inexperienced and just not to the standards of an 5 star. They struggle with the most basic requests. The linen and towels are stained. Room cleans barely remove the dust. The food is over cooked and everything served is as spicy as it gets. The toilets repeatedly block and the plug sockets generally don’t work. In case you thought you couldn’t make this up; it gets worse. Unlike most conventional hotels, renovation works start at 5 pm and carry on past 10 pm. Any pleas to stop work are simply ignored by management. I am completely baffled as to how this hotel could possibly be rated at 5 star. The prices are grossly disproportionate to the value of service. At USD 500 per night for a basic room, this place is shockingly over priced. This hotel needs a root/branch shake up. It may need to: 1. Replace senior staff 2. Focus on recruiting properly trained staff 3. Deep clean the place 4. Fundamentally reconfigure it’s menu and food quality 5. Sort out AC and electrics 6. Invest in upgraded industrial washing machines 7. Cease all night time renovation works 8. Respect guests reasonable requests 9. Retrain all staff on basic hospitality Most of all learn how to value and treat guests. This could be an outstanding hotel because if it’s history and location. But it has such a long long way to go…….

Stayed three nights at Lalit Srinagar during end April 2023 . Great experience . The beautiful lawns in front of the Deluxe Ground Floor room that we had , the variety of trees and flower plants in this widespread campus, the drive from the main gate to the lobby with trees and lawns on both sides and the heavily wooded hills just behind the hotel are the main highlights. It’s 5 minutes walk to the Dal lake ( but you can’t see Dal lake from hotel ). From the Dal Lake, one can get autos for dinner or anything. Shamiyana is a good restaurant at Dal Gate for wazwan and other Kashmiri dishes and is easily reachable from Lalit. The hotel has one restaurant . Breakfast was served in the open lawn and in April end when there is slight chill in the air and good sunshine, open air experience with wide greenery around is great . Rooms on ground floor have nice balcony which opens to the lawns. Rooms are a bit dated but clean . The TV didnot work, wanted to watch IPL, either the batsmen head was getting cut or the score board below. Watching IPL on laptop using wifi was also a challenge. With per night charges of Rs 30,000+, surely more is expected . Mehnaz at the front desk was very helpful. We checked in a bit early and she arranged for a room for us to rest , great gesture as one of us had a Zoom call to attend .On the day of the departure, we wanted to see the heritage rooms to be able to have more reasons to stay in this hotel again , in a different room. The suited ,seemingly a Senior Manager , at the front desk in the morning of 1 st May, was not in a mood to oblige .

Stayed 3 nights from 6-9 April. Have always stayed at the Vivanta but unfortunately, sought a change and booked the Lalit. Soiled towels and bedsheets to greet us on entry coupled with untrained staff enhanced the 'change' that we sought. The aircon was on the blink throughout our stay. The shower refused to drain out and the washbasin would return our offerings to our shoes. It's sad that our royal residences are now going the way of our royalty --- into the pits. As a regular visitor to the valley, I can say with conviction, that I'm yet to find a seedier place to stay among the star rated properties. Hope my review prods the management to pull up their socks and give this property the respect it deserves by maintaining it properly. on our return to Srinagar, we opted to stay at a houseboat of the Mahajong group, and found it to be refreshingly superior.

It's a beautiful sprawling property over a huge area surrounded by hills on 3 sides over viewing Dal Lake in the front . It was the palace of Maharaja Hari Singh ! Absolutely royal in all sense. Immaculately maintained ..Especially the lawns and the lush greens ! Food was quite good and healthy. Staffs were absolutely courteous and helpful ! Breakfast in the lawn was a really different experience . The Bar is a cozy vintage club like experience . Pool is good . Surroundings are like picture post cards . Rooms are pretty good .. Especially the ones in ground floor with an access to the lawn ! A regal experience per se ! I repeat staffs were absolutely courteous and focussed on customer delight !

Amazing property ! Liked everything about it ... the gardens, the room, the view. Breakfast was quite a spread and was served out in the front gardens which were overlooking the beautiful valley and the dal lake. ❤️ I would like to mention that if one wants to buy authentic Kashmiri carpets n shawl picking it from the hotel shop is a good idea :) . The owner is a very courteous gentlemen.

The best thing of the property is property itself and the USP of the hotel is its location , lawans and the picturesque mountains which are right behind the hotel . This is the tailor. Now the actual picture of the hotel. 1) Its human hospitality is owsome which make you feel home even if it is not from the operational part like Javaid Bhat who is FC of hotel still gives you best touch points with his vast experience about surrounding and offcourse about Palace. Such a lively personality. 2) Service The service standards are so high that even they know about your preferences even though that are not in disclosure. Great Service Umer / Waseem 3) welcome Now you welcome is too much welcomed that even you don't know to whom you will greet as they all welcomed us warmly . 4) Property it is an old Palace converted to Hotel you can expect old antiques but it has been modified with modern facilities like hot Water Swimming pool which we like ,Rooms are good but best are the cottage a little expensive though. 5) Food was owsome we tried Gucci masala it was mind blowing little expensive but worth , wazan we tried which is a kashmiri Cousine but different which we tried two years back in some local restaurants which was better we guess. 6) The man attractive place is BAR which is faced towards dal lake Ane you can enjoy hours during evening with cool breeze around . We love the visit and surly sometime will come again to recall all the special memories and which we left during this Stay.
