Horrible experience here. Facilities in rooms absolutely disgusting, either filthy or not working (or non existent). Would deter others from staying here, especially when the owner is a violent and aggressive psychopath.

Not far from the beach and the city centre. A basic stay for a reasonable price. The atmosphere is laid-back. Our room was a big (AC) room upstairs on the rightsize. There are cats and dogs and a horse. So if you don't like animals....... Ignore the lady in the house. She gives you a unwelcome feeling while Johnson is...

IMPORTANT BREAKING NEWS. We are projecting our property and rooms live on the property web site, johnsonskerala, daily at 1.00 afternoon and 6.00 evening India time. Thus, from now on, you can view our rooms from wherever you may be, and then take a decision on coming here. We are the only establishment in the tourism industry in India who...

Stayed here 3 nights, The rooms are large but not furnished only bed provided. Foods are average but highly priced. Chicken meal cost per meal is Rs. 370 and fish meal is Rs.420 but quantity and preparation is not good. Service is also not good. Lots of mosquito in the premises and inside the rooms. Though Mr Johnson is a...

Overall, not worth it. Just get a cab to drive you out into the backwaters. You see the same thing and save yourself 2 days. This "free" night at Johnsons home stay came with our houseboat booking. We brought our own bug net so we didn't get eaten alive. Good thing we did cause there were tons of Mosquitos. If...

Stayed in Johnson's Eco houseboat for one night. It was magnificent! We arrived at Johnson's own residence first. He has a lot of pets and is very kind. He offers you refreshments, even offered us to use his washing machine to do our laundry! He then helped us find transportation to the houseboat. Our houseboat was a double decker, meant...

Some people love Johnson, but for me he seemed like a slick casino operator. Overtly extremely hospitable, but his information very biased towards the tours and houseboat that he books. Rooms were clean but extremely basic - only a bed. Certainly not with all the amenities listed. And definitely overpriced. As to Johnson's character, I'll just let his responses to...

It's been almost 8 months since I was at Johnson's and I'm finally just able to work up the courage to write this review. What happened during my stay at Johnson's has been difficult to talk about and has affected me ever since. I arrived at Johnson's in a good mood and ready to see the famous Kerala backwaters. Johnson...

We found Johnson's houseboat and homestay via the Lonely Planet guide but didn't find quite what was advertised. We had lots of contact with Johnson via email before our trip, made arrangements for one night on houseboat and the complimentary night in the homestay and paid a deposit, but when we arrived he was not expecting us and seemed almost...

I stayed at Johnson's for two weeks in June to help out with some manuscript editing. I wasn't a tourist strictly speaking, but I got to experience life in the house in more or less the same manner as a tourist would, and I met some tourists who stayed for a day or two during my tenure there. If you...

6 months since my visit .... I still can't believe I subjected myself to it . At first he seemed decent enough, but as I watched and listened the reality became clearer. I work in mental health and I'm quite tuned in when assessing people. Controlling , potentially violent , devious ,manipulative ,tyranical . I was unsure if ,perhaps, I...

Horrible customer. I want to ask the gentleman if he works in the mental institute or is an inmate, because one of the previous review mentions him as a 'crazed customer'. Please refer 'Harry3g' review. Yup, this is the idiot who came to my guesthouse from a two day trip on my boat and started yelling at me in front...
