Our home is located in the heart of Periyar Tiger Reserve, Thekkady which is 1 km from Kumily town (the bus station) to the sanctuary road. We have four well furnished and neat rooms. We pleasure to serve the very special Kerala homely food both veg. and non veg. We have only four rooms so we could provide our guest a comfortable and affordable accommodation, with an adorable friendly family atmosphere. We have a wild view pavilion for sighting of sambar deer, wild boar, barking deer, black macaque, red mangoose, Indian bat, birds, etc...
Ram and Rani are fantastic hosts and the shower is amazing. The best part is the Periyar National Park in the back garden, so you can sit on the balcony and do some wildlife spotting over a great Indian breakfast. Would highly recommend!

My husband and I stayed at Konak Homestay for 4 days in August 2016. We chose this homestay because of its closeness to the Periyar Reserve, and we were not disappointed. The homestay is only a few moments down the road, and also a very short walk to get into town and walk around, sample the restaurants. Rani and Ram are kind and helpful, always around to help you find a tour or book an activity. Rani makes delicious food, as well! The room is a good size, clean, comfortable. I only wish there were screens on the windows so we could have left them open and felt the beautiful breeze. The view from the 3rd floor terrace is so lovely and peaceful - very nice to sit on the terrace and watch the bison grazing and the herons flying by, or to just watch the rain fall. There is also an…

The view from the terrace is beautiful. The location is great - Periyar Reserve is just at the end of the road and it is a short walk into Kumily town for local restaurants and shopping. Rani and Ram were very kind and attentive hosts, and Rani is a wonderful cook.

I stayed at the Konark Homestay for two nights. Its a great location if you are intending to go to the national park - a two minute walk from the park entrance, also near local restaurants and shops. My room was clean, spacious, along with the toilet. Wifi did not work in my room, but eventually we got it working for me to do this review (!). Fan worked properly, bed was clean. It was a good price i was given, as it was in low season. In the day i went bamboo rafting in the park - for 2000 rupees, 8am to 4pm. We hiked for an hour or so, stopped for breakfast, then climbed onto our bamboo rafts (pretty cool). We then headed to a secluded spot (having seen no animals, where we were told we wait. Nothing much really Happened, we went for a walk, saw asnake in a tree, and headed…

This is Geetha from Chennai, I would like to share my experience in Thekkady ( Kerala). Last week our family went to thekkday and we were stayed in Konark homestay. It was pleasant hotel to stay and really superb. That hotel is very clean and has very good view point. From there we saw some of the wild animals like deer, wild big, etc. Ram and Latha are very nice person. They were guided us to visit some of the tourist spot. Which was really good. And the food arrangement and all, very good. We had good time over there. As per my experience konark homestay is best and economic place to stay. For this summer Thekkady will be best place for tour.
