When I was leaving Shiva Garden the saying from Winnie the Pooh came up to my mind: How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodby so hard... I spend in Varkala more than one month and visited most of the places and Shiva Garden was still my favorite place to come back and call it home for...

It is the perfect place to relax, meet cool people, socialize discover all the things India has to offer. It is not placed on the clift which makes the location calm but only 2 min walk away from all the shops and the restaurants. Rooms and the toilets in them are clean following the indian standards. the owner is extremly...

The rooms are nice, the food is OK, the prices are accessible, the familiar environment is peaceful, the playground is super with its hammocks, volleyball net, balls and swings. It even has a slackline. But the strong point of Shiva Garden is that is THE place for long term solo travellers. So be sure to meet interesting people and to...

We stayed there a couple of nights and i would totally recommend it. Rooms are cheap and clean. The owner is very helpful and friendly. The hammocks in the garden are worth every roupie. Short way to the beach.

Not very busy as it was low season but still a great atmosphere for travellers. Very reasonably priced ensuite room with a balcony with walking distance to the cliffs. Loved the garden hammocks and great wifi.

Location: Good location, about ten minutes walking distance from the beach. Room: We had a nice room, with a big and clean bed, although the mattress was a bit hard. There is a mosquito net, which was helpful ;-) unfortunately no hot water in the shower. Staff: Very friendly. They helped us with our journey onwards and were always available....

Thanks for the lovely review and glad your stay was a good one! Yes it is amazing in the high season as we have people from all over the world come here.

It was off-season for my Varkala experience, so everything, I hear, was quite different, including the availability of yoga & massage. I had gone there for a massage course and our accommodations were included at Shiva Garden. I chose the least expensive lodging, which was 600 Rps (about $10 USD) per day. It was minimal, but had indoor plumbing, which...

If you want to meet fellow travelers and stay somewhere that is affordable with a great communal area then look no further. The kitchen serves very nice affordable food and drink from morning to night. There are morning and afternoon yoga classes for just R300 a session. There is volleyball/badminton net, swings, hammocks, a barbell, a library and a tightrope...

Shiva Garden is a great spot for meeting unique individuals, relaxing and staying close to the beach (but not on the beach). I would recommend Shiva Garden to individuals looking for economy accommodations. Shiva Garden is nothing fancy by any standards but the hospitality and unique place makes this a great spot to meet alternative & eclectic travelers. I would...

Love the place. Friendly staff, great communal area in the centre of all rooms. People come and go everyday, so you never need to make plans, just join in. Budget rooms, family atmosphere and the owners kids (Divya and Nithya) add a great charm to the place. Best for single travellers and longer stays. Rachel
