We originally booked 5 nights at Mummy Bamboo House, and then stayed for ten. After travelling around Kerala, we went back for another 9 nights, then stayed in Alleppey for a few days, and then came back for another 4 nights! The reason? It's just a great place to stay! We stayed in three different rooms, and all were very...

Stayed at Mummy Bamboo House at the end of a 7 week visit to Kanataka and Kerala. It was our 5th visit to Varkala in the last 8 years. We choose Mummy Bamboo House due to it's Trip Advisor Reviews as we were on a tight budget and our usual choice Sea Breeze was too expensive and is now cut...

I had a lovely stay at the Mummy Bamboo house. The rooms were clean and a good distance away from the busy beach. Rani showed me how to cook the favourite family curry in her kitchen.... I would definately recommend requesting to eat dinner here. She also made the best banana pancake and chai to start off the day. Thank...

Mummy Bamboo House provided us with the highlight of our month long India trip. Good old fashioned friendly service and hospitality. Nothing was a problem for Rani and her family. The ultimate experience - home cooked meals, cooking lessons, grocery, fish and vegetable shopping at the local markets, a beautiful family wedding and many hours of chat about the local...

We had the loveliest time chilling out at Mummy Bamboos but mostly we want to say a huge thank you to Rani and Sudanem. Marcia broke her arm when she slipped on the cliff path and they immediately swung into action, driving us around to the hospital, translating and explaining how Indian hospitals work. They could not have done more...

I came to Mummy Bamboo for a week and stayed for 3 weeks - need I say more? Rani and her family are warm, welcoming hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. I cannot sing their praises highly enough. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with mosquito nets around the bed, although mosquitoes were not a problem during...

Nice basic clean rooms central to Varkala beach. Just off the main path of the cliff but enough to be a bit secluded and quiet. Beds clean and comfortable. Good mozzie net. Clean bathroom. Cold water only but not a problem as tends to come out warmish! AC if wanted. Very good value. Nice hosts though didn't end up seeing...

We arrived here on our first day in India with Sudhanan meeting us at the airport. He took us in his plush dusty psychedelic taxi, driving madly but skillfully, for breakfast! His wife, lovely Rani, made our stay simple but comfortable. The room conditions are humble, with the occasional lizard, but sturdy mosquito netting and all you need. We had...
