My time at Kaiya house was amazing. Deb, the owner, made us feel instantly comfortable and at home; it's not an exaggeration to say I've never felt as comfortable staying somewhere that was not the home of a friend or family. Her staff were likewise lovely and very welcoming. The room I was in was simple but very comfortable and...

Right when you walk into the door you know you have come to a special place. Debra graciously greets you and gets you settled into your room. The whole house is a decorators fantasy, filled with antiques and nick nacks from all over the world. Debra takes the time to tell you about Varkala and Kerala in general giving you...

Kaiya House helps you remember that a trip is not only about the places you see or the meals you eat but also, and more importantly about the people you meet. Debra is the most helpful hostess who will not only make sure you make the most of your stay, but also let you share her love for Varkala. The...

It was so lovely to meet you and I'm really happy to hear you had a great time on Munroe Island and I hope the rest of your India adventure was fabulous as well. Perhaps you'll still be living in London if we have another Kaiya House Comes to London party, maybe this summer.

Kaiya guesthouse is a little away from the central strip, though only about a 10 minute walk to the coast. We stayed in the English room, which was nice but pretty small ( the one chair in the room was an antique and ' not for sitting on' which in a room this size isn't very practical!). Only cold showers...

Thank you for taking time to post a review. I do want to be straight forward when taking bookings and mention cool showers in my initial reply. Sorry if that wasn't comfortable for you. Hope you had a great rest of your time in India.

Inivitive idea for room design themes, each room has a separate theme. Rooftop breakfast / chill out area is lovely. Good fitness / yoga equipment included. Owner very helpful with finding yournway around the area - personally showed us the main areas. Would have liked hot water but nothing unusual for Indian accommodation - did not distract from a great...

It's difficult to think of something that hasn't already been said, but here goes. We visited Kaiya House for the second time and it was just as brilliant as the first time. Debra is the perfect host - warm, friendly and very funny! There has been an eclectic mix of people each time we stayed, which adds to the Kaiya...

Thank you so much, it was absolutely lovely to see you again and have your great energy in the house. I'll think of you both when I attend the Muragon Festival in February and will surely have new photos to send to you.

We only spent one night at Kaiya House but that was enough to see how it has earned so many accolades on Tripadvisor. We have travelled widely and stayed in a variety of places from high-end to budget/back-pack and Debra is the possibly the best manager we have met in all these years. Her attention to detail, generous service and...

This is the Southern India of your dreams, the India which hasn't really changed, and the one I marvelled at in the now politically incorrect Sambo books by Helen Bannerman. As an older couple (who first came to India by bus in the Seventies) we have been travelling around for a month and spent a wonderful 4 days with Debra....

Myself and my partner had been travelling around Kerala and decided to spend the last few days in Varkala for a bit of a chill out.
