Stayed 8 nights, felt welcomed from the moment we arrived at 5am. Debra and her brilliant staff could not do enough for us. Debra's caring attitude, local knowledge and great personality made our stay an experience to be treasured. Can't recommend Kaiya house highly enough; come and see for yourself.

Not long returned from our 2nd trip to Varkala and 2nd stay at Kaiya House. Debra, the owner, is a fantastic host and I couldn't imagine every staying anywhere else when we visit Varkala. Lovely room which are spotlessly clean. Excellent rooftop where you can chill out, have treatments and sit around chatting to Debra and the other guests. Debra...

Came here in Jan 15' after some mixed stays in Kumily and Alleppey. Debra immediately made us feel at home offering a guide through varkala (which we found very useful) She also offered to take us to a local lady's house where we had possibly the best meal I've yet had in India (been 3 times) The next day we...

Kaiya House was recommended to us by passing travellers and it more than lived up to its reputation as the number one place to stay in Varkala. From the time the lovely Debra greeted us at the door and showed us around her beautifully decorated home, to the one hour introductory walk of the town, to a magical three hour...

Kaiya House is one of the best places I have stayed in the world. The rooms are unique and very well decorated and the location is close to the beaches and temples but also quiet. The best part of the house though is the atmosphere. The owner Debra and her staff will do anything to make your stay wonderful, from...

Debra and Kaiya House were such a lucky find on my first trip to India. I was delayed two days because of airline woes and Debra was exceptionally understanding and reassuring as we stayed in contact via email. Once I arrived, her personal introduction to Varkala was so helpful to understand the town and get a lay of the land....

We certainly agree with all of the positive comments that previous reviewers have made. Indeed, it's pretty much impossible to add anything new. Debra, Heman, and Babachee work very hard at creating a welcoming and relaxing ambience that makes you feel like you're staying in your own home. But at the same time, the personal attention coupled with the fact...
