Ranthambhore is the world’s finest place to observe tigers in the wild, and SUJÁN Sher Bagh is the ideal base from which to explore this billion-year-old forest, with the mighty citadel that lends its name to the reserve rising majestically at the heart of it. With ruins of palaces, cenotaphs and follies dotted around the jungle, now inhabited by its wild denizens, with the tiger at the apex, it is a spectacular wildlife haven. Sher Bagh, evokes nostalgic sensibilities of life on safari during the heydays of an era celebrated for its art de vivre, living elegantly under canvas, whilst on safari. With crackling campfires under starlit skies, sumptuous Anglo-Indian repasts using homegrown organic produce, coupled with old-world service, the camp epitomises life on safari as it ought to be lived. Crackling campfires under star lit skies, naturalists to share the facts of the forest, it’s a place where comfort, style and an unmatchable commitment to conservation meet. With over 40 years experience, Sher Bagh’s guides and trackers are the best in the business. Their incredible knowledge of the park and the behaviour of its star inhabitant, the tiger, together with their passionate enthusiasm, make a stay here unparalleled.

Detailed Reviews
This is an extremely nice place to stay. The staff is very attentive and professional. The meals are exquisite. The permanent tented rooms are the highest quality and very well appointed. This is no doubt one of the finest places to stay in India (and certainly this area). We also stayed at the Serai in Jaisalmer; the Sher Bagh is a 10 out of 10 while the Serai Jaisalmer is an 8 out of 10 (same price).
One night we had dinner next to an open fire pit which was very memorable. We LOVED out stay here!
Tip: we are a family of 4 and they allowed us to take just one tent which they brought a rollaway bed (or two?) into the room. It worked great for our 8 and 9 year old boys.

If ever you and your family have a dream of visiting a jungle for tiger safari and still want the ultimate in world class super luxury in comforts in spacious tents with attached bathroom with tubs and best food , personal attention of staff - this place is for you . From the moment you arrive they will pamper you with their super hospitality . The world famous Tiger reserve is close by and the stay here amidst the nature will tempt you to come again and again . This eco friendly place has no TV but excellent speed of Wifi makes you feel connected to the world - free with your stay . The heated pool in cold weather is inviting .The choice of food at breakfast is continental and Indian ( unlimited )which is best of quality and mouth watering . Lunch is continental . Dinner time has a choice of Indian Thali and continental . There is No room service except for all beverages . All food, every meal and nonalcoholic drinks are included in tariff .List of wines and alcoholic drinks are impressive and available and chargeable .The Camp fire and the lighting up of the entire premises in the evenings is very beautiful and gives an opportunity to know your fellow boarders . They arrange The Safari which is heavily booked - it would be prudent to book in advance at the time of booking your stay itself .The tariff here is very steep and needs deep pockets but worth the money . The personnel here are very helpful and hospitable . Special thanks to Ms.Divya who went above and beyond but all the staff are wonderful. A very memorable stay there .Highly recommended .Since there is a very limited number of luxury tents here it is advisable to plan ahead .

I enjoyed my short stay at Sujan, where I did 3 drives in Ranthambore over the course of 2 days. The camp itself is quite small: one path along which their 12 tents are lined, a small lobby, a library & dinner area, and a small but nice pool on a decked terrace. At night especially, the camp looks really beautiful.
The best thing about Sujan is the tents are excellent. Everything you might want (including AC, a nice shower and a bathtub), decorated with lots of nice touches.
The food is also good, although surprisingly I think I slightly preferred having the choice of the lunchtime menu, than the set dinner assortments they bring you (although they were still good).
One minor complaint is that when I tried to go for a late swim, the pool was so totally full of insects that it was a bit of a challenge. I noticed that they clean the pool in the mornings, it would be nice if they did again later in the day to make an evening swim a bit more pleasant. I realise they’re deep in nature and having a totally insect-free done is not a realistic or reasonable expectation, so this is a small point.
Another small thing is the park drives they booked for me were really ultra expensive - I was kind of shocked by the price, but just went with it since I figured I may not have another chance for a long time. It would’ve been nice if there were an option to go with a group or other guests for less, I don’t think it’s really necessary to do a completely solo drive.

My wife and I have been wanting to take our kids for a safari experience since some time now. We happened to come across this property which looked fabulous in photos. So, we made a plan with a bunch of our friends and their kids for what we thought would be a memorable experience and memorable it was albeit for all the wrong reasons.
When you are paying almost a $ 1,000 a night, in a hotel which is a part of Relais & Chateau, one would expect nothing but the very best. Sadly, this was not the case with us.
Let me just start by saying that the place is not at all meant for children or families. Besides a swimming pool and some board games there's nothing else for them to do.
Food was a huge disappointment; all our meals were too bland or too spicy, overcooked or undercooked. Breakfast was spectacularly Spartan.
Room service was just about okay and slightly inconvenient with just a buzzer.
Although a couple of the staff members were courteous but overall they did a very good job of pretending to listen to us. They lacked the empathy and hospitality one would expect. I couldn't help but notice that they were not happy to serve the domestic guests.
To sum it all up, Sher Bagh leaves a lot to be desired. It was almost as if they do not want you to spend too much time at their property. We have travelled a bit and sometimes stayed in some of the best hotels and what we have learnt is it’s not always about the fancy hotels or expensive meals or luxurious rooms. What makes a holiday truly memorable is way you are treated when you are a guest. One always remembers places that went that extra mile just to make sure that you always feel welcomed and deliver more than promised but this hotel made us feel somewhat robbed of our money, our peace of mind and what could have been a cherished memory.

Sujan is an amazing place where one can visit for making a trip memorable and special…their spectacular hospitality by divya right from welcoming us to their resort to making us aware with the entire area. We were mesmerised with the look and feel of the rooms, their dining area and ofcourse their special bar area where we played alott of games and the drinks and their mouth watering appetitizers .. the staff was so friendly and respectful that we felt like home. They treated us as if we’re are part of family. The delectable food made by chef kunal was outstanding. I had never eaten such kind of food anywhere else.. it was soo tasty.. the whole trip spent in a click and we didn’t even feel like going back from beautiful place.. the usp of this place is that it is constructed right in middle of the national park without any fencing so you can feel the nature so closely and that too in a complete secured environment… i wish i go back again to this wonderful place and enjoy their hospitality

Came to stay in late Jan/early Feb with my husband and our little one. We visited few years back but this was our first time back in the state since Covid, and first time back in India with our toddler. We wanted to stay somewhere special, and it did not disappoint!!
The resort is beautiful, the decor really works well with the natural surroundings and the beds are so so so comfortable! I needed an extra pillow after the first night for my back problems, and they gave me 3!
The food in resort was out of the world, which we were relieved about because there's no alternative options really. Given the more remote location it's understandable they have set menus with some limitations. Unfortunately I am British so cannot really handle too much spice, while my husband is Indian and eats chillies like popcorn. The chef was able to deviate off course to create a few less spicy dishes for me and my daughter with the ingredients he had available, which we really, really appreciated. I also have some minor food allergies - notified in advance and they made sure there was always something appropriate for me.
We had an incredible safari experience and even saw a tiger! Not too close but still an amazing experience. My husband is a bird watcher and says the bird life was best he's seen in India.
All the staff were amazing throughout our entire stay, especially Divya and Yuvraj :) They especially became more like friends, and we look forward to meeting them as our personal guests one day if they come to Kerala!

Just HEAVEN! We stayed here for three nights in an ultra, ultra-luxurious tent. The staff is incredible, the service impeccable and the food fantastic. I cannot say enough about how wonderful this place is. With only 12 tents, their attentiveness to the guests is unmatched. Seriously, if you can go here - do it!

Visited Sher Bagh for a 4 night stay at the end of February with my wife and 4 Year old, along with a group of friends. The property had great reviews and awesome pictures online( and a super premium tariff i might add), so we were really looking forward to some great hospitality. - We were highly disappointed-
The food was absolutely mediocre and very inconsistent, either too spicy or rich and at times completely bland. The staff was also very reluctant to prepare mild dishes for the kids which is unacceptable for a full board property. No variety in the meals and breakfast was a 2 hour affair with orders taking as long as 30 minutes to arrive (the toast another 15 minutes). Not what you would expect when paying these prices. Also got a strange racist vibe from some of the staff - i think they are accustomed to Non Indians( the staff are all Indians of course) and this property is surely not equipped to handle kids.
I Would recommend trying some of the other properties in the area if you want to spend your time in Ranthambore worrying less about your next meal and more about which animal you will spot on the next safari..

We really enjoyed our stay here, the rooms are lovely and in theme of the Safari. They are serviced 3 times a day which is great. The details of preparing hot water bottles in the bed really adds to the stay.
The staff are all lovely and hard working, they make the experience special.
I would recommend coming for 2 nights only and ideally adults only as there’s not much to do other than the drives. We got very lucky seeing Tigers on our afternoon drive but it’s certainly not a given. If you want a real safari with a variety of animals, Africa is your place.
The food was tasty and they catered to our intolerances/ allergies.
Overall a really enjoyable experience!

Aggresively inept management from a lodge that commands premium prices and fails to deliver service and food commensurate with any of their peers who charge a fraction.
Stupefied by the audacity with which our grievances were met. Our groups' mundane complaints ranged from inexplicably forgetting to load coffees and snacks for the drives, to cold pots of tea for room service.
While the quality of service from the waiters to the butlers was terrific; The management - a study in fecklessness - never had any answers and perhaps more strikingly: remorse.

Littlehampton, United Kingdom305 contributions18 helpful votesWhat is the charge for the private jeep safaris booked directly through Sujan Sher Bagh! I am totally confused about the process for booking safaris (especially if booking direct through the national park) & am considering booking a stay at Sher Bagh as it appears that I will be able to book jeeps directly, but would like to know the exact price please.
Dear KitwingHK
Lovely to hear from you. Every month really is different in the wild and each month we have fantastic sightings, there really isn't a bad month. One thing that might help you decide is the weather, it tends to be slightly colder in Jan & Feb as we come out of winter so if you prefer warmer temperatures, I would come March- April! Hope this helps.
With love,
The SUJÁN Family
Hi there,
As the fees for the game drives go directly to the Forest Department in Ranthambhore these are not included in the package. You will need to book these separately.
Thanks
Dear Alexandria,
We would recommend morning and afternoon. Whilst of course you can never predict the wilderness tigers tend to be active in the mornings before it gets too hot and then they are often seen again late afternoon when the sun begins to ease of. You will also get to see the park in two completely different lights which is worth it alone to go on a drive!
We look forward to seeing you soon.
With love,
The SUJÁN Family
