Simple and basic room, a little dark as the only window is facing an inner courtyard (as most rooms). The building definitely has character and the hotel is in a very quiet area. The manager is very friendly and helpful! Unfortunately hot water is only available in the mornings, and shower and toilet were very dirty (and also very dark).

It's a very beautiful hotel with a great location. The staff + owner are so friendly. They will help out loads (arrange bus trips etc) and just be around for nice company. I'm very satisfied with my stay at Sweekar.

This budget hotel easily lived up to its Lonely Planet status and as many others have pointed out, its owner is clearly one of its biggest assets: he is friendly, helpful and even took time to explain some of the history of the hotel which used to be a British colonial family house. "Built by the British," he beamed with...

Perfect budget option! Really homely feel in beautiful surroundings. What really makes this place stand out is the generosity and helpfulness of it's owner. He could not have been more accommodating providing extra blankets when we got cold and getting up very early to make a fire to ensure that there was hot water for all 3 of us. Would...

If you need a place to crash then you won't go far wrong than the Hotel Sweekar. A sweet converted former British residence with simple rooms. I am not sure what the other reviews were complaining about if I'm honest. Expect rustic but perfectly fine rooms. It isn't the best looking and while yes could do with a bit of...

Very simple and basic budget accommodation (maybe some furniture would've been a good idea) hot water But too expensive for what you get (900 rupees in low season are kind of a joke) Manager seems to be nice at first but was not reliable / helpful in the end and we had to postpone our trekking by one day due...

After arriving in Ooty during terrible weather we decided to stay somewhere mentioned in the lonely planet. Behind the reception building it is a little bit like a compound with a couple of buildings separated by metal gates and with metal mesh covering the overhead space outdoors. It's not a particularly nice environment, however I admit the experience was made...

Sweekar is place for people with low budget who need just place for sleeping. Everything there is simple. You will get room with bed and shower - nothing more, nothing less. Hot water is only at the morning from 7.30. You can buy a breakfast. Owner is helpful man - he can arrange trips and transportation to other cities -...

Good location. Five minute walk from busstand. Owner is really friendly and helpfull. They offer different tours for reasonable prices. We did a full day trek through countryside and tea plantations for R. 450. Room was basic, matras bit hard. Paid 600. There are different rooms and prices. They also serve food. We had breakfast twice. It was good but...

rooms are not very big and very humid, what makes nights really cold. hot shower in the morning sometimes is hot, sometimes only warm and an elderly man demands tips for nothing. If you want to stay in Nilgiri Hills we definitly recomend you to choose any other placy than Ooty which is the ugliest and most polluted city there....

“I had occupied a room for 2, so I am saying based on that experience. I haven't had a look at the other rooms, but there are bigger rooms, I guess for around 5 - 6 people in a single room. The rooms had very basic amenities 1. A bed for 2 along with blankets (extra could be provided on request) 2. Table 3. Chair 4. Hanger (mounted on wall) 5. Bucket & mug 6. Mirror Stuff you might want to take with you: - Toiletries, including soap and towel (they don't provide it). - Extra blanket, just in case.”
