We stayed in a double room with shared bathroom. The room itself was ok although didn't have any amenities apart from a bed, a fan and a plug socket. The shared bathroom was on the floor above and hot water had to be collected in buckets from the rooftop. The rooftop cafe served overpriced and not particularly good quality food...

A really bad experience. I emailed them in advance and told them I absolutely had to pay by card due to not being able to get cash (demonetization). They replied to the email so I know they received it. When I checked in I checked again that it was ok to pay by card, they said fine. The room and...

We arrived at the Shanti Guest House at late evening, thus we decided to eat something at the rooftop restaurant. Worst choice ever: we think the cheese or something else was rotten and we then experienced an awful night. Only few were not sick, the rest spent the night time in going back and forth from the bed to the...

The place is located really close to the burning ghat which allowed us to go there several times. It is only hundreds of meters away from the Pūjā ceremonies that is held every evening from 6:30 till 7:30 + It is not far from the Main Street either (yes a bit tricky to find but everyone knows it) The wifi...

The location of this place is great, near the stairs where they burn the dead. This has some side effects, like holes on the bedsheets burnt by floating ashes in the room, or loud reciting of ritual songs sounding from the river, it is kind of unsettling but beautiful, depends on your taste if you want it in your room...

Dont be put off, yes it is aged, hard to find and in need of a lick of paint, but for the price it can't be beaten. The management are very helpful, wifi is superfast and rooftop restaurant views are great, usually empty as well, great location close to the burning ghat (but not too close). Enjoy!

Rooftop view is surely amazing, but avoid eating there. Hygien is just scandalous. Not even talkink about the dirty tables, chairs and local. We were served a raita (curd with vegetables) and parts of it were still frozen (how many times?). Plain rice was so cooked that it was almost liquid. And how surprising, we get sick next day. I...

Shanti Guesthouse is for Rs. 400/- per night so you get what you pay for. If all you need is a bed to crash in at the end of the day and would like to do it on the extreme cheap end, then Shanti Guesthouse fits right in. Carry at least 2 bed sheets with you (my personal travel tip...

We stayed here as a last minute choice. We paid Rs400 for a room on the 4th floor, for ONE night. There is no lift and 8 flights of steep stairs to climb. All walls could do with a lick of paint. The room itself (409) was cold, the windows didn't close, no mosquito nets on windows or over the...
