The service at the Harris River hotel is very good, there are good rooms with a private layout, there are a few problems with building renovations to improve facilities but it doesn't interfere with safe walking at all. Very, very average hotel. We stayed one night this week due to a cancelled flight home and the airline sent us to this hotel. Upon check in, we were informed there was no food even though we were told there would be some dinner available. We then went to the room and found the room to be quite dirty, towels were greying and tiny and the bathroom and shower had a foul odour. The 'river view' is of a swamp (foul smelling) with rubbish floating down it and when you opened the balcony door, hot air blew straight in from the aircon systems sitting on the balcony. Breakfast was very average with a lot of the food looking sweaty. We had problems with our keys working on our doors and it took three visits to reception to fix it. The pool didn't appeal to us as it is very dark in colour and looks unclean - it may have been the tile colour but it certainly didn't entice you to get in. All in all, it was only 1 night but certainly not a hotel that would appeal to anybody seeking a nice holiday in Bali. Be aware too that the time it takes to get to the main tourist area of Kuta is a good taxi ride away - not walkable.
