I had previously booked another hotel for my stay in the same area. However, upon carful scrutiny of the reviews, I decided to cancel it and book with Poppies. I was really happy to have made this choice. Not only did Poppies live up to the expectation, also the other property which I had booked had a very rundown appearance from outside. Facts 1. Poppies is located at the east end of Jalan Poppies - I almost touching Jalan Legian. For those who are new, Jalan Poppies is an extremely narrow lane with just enough space for only one vehicle in any direction. This means that if you have to hail a ride, you'll have to walk down to the main road 2. It's a good 10 min walk from Jalan Pantai Kuta - the main road along the Kuta beach. This would mean that every time one wants to go…
Thank you for a wonderful stay! We stayed at the beginning of our Bali holiday and missed it so much that we had to return! From the immaculate grounds to the charming, beautifully maintained cottages, this place is a delight. I’d recommend Poppies to anyone who is looking for a quiet, peaceful, intimate place to stay. Our daughter loved the cats, frogs, fishponds, dragonflies and beautiful gardens. The breakfasts were wonderful too, and we loved that we could have them at our cottage or in the restaurant. Staff seemed happy and were polite, helpful and friendly. I’d recommend a little flexibility regarding late checkouts where possible. The surrounding area is struggling a little, now that the action seems to have moved to Seminyak/ Canggu, but this also makes for a quiet stay.…
I have been staying at Poppies for more than a decade and love waking up each morning and being able to sit on the porch in my own private garden. Being a small property you are able to get to know the welcoming and friendly staff and feel part of the Poppies family. The pool is in a quiet, tropical setting and lacks the coldness of the pools in large resorts. Pool beds offer privacy and are thoughtfully arranged in groups of two/ three in the beautiful garden area. Cottages are spacious, perfect for one, two or a third can be accommodated. I love leaving the hustle and bustle of the Kuta streets, markets and street stalls and escaping into this serene piece of paradise. The well known Poppies restaurant is 20 metres down the lane, set in tropical gardens. I have eaten here for…
In our opinion, staying at this hotel even just for one night, it is the reason to visit Kuta in itself. Yes, despite we are not fans of such vacation options which Kuta suggests, we found Poppies Bali as one of the best places we’ve ever stayed in. We don’t want to copy previous glowing reviews, we just want to join them, confirming that they all true and adding that Poppies Bali is an incredible hotel, where we want to come back (but not to Kuta itself, haha). The only little drawback I would call a small parking space. On the other hand, there is a lovely car attendant on the spot, so he’ll easily help you to park your car, so this tiny drawback didn’t influence our staying at all. Anyway, if you consider getting this place by car, we recommend renting a small car: it will be…
I stayed at Poppies again in September 2022, seven years after my first visit. I booked a room directly on the website for about $110 USD per night. While Kuta was still in the process of recovering from the pandemic - many but not all shops and restaurants were open, and Poppies I Lane was still kind of quiet - Poppies Cottages doesn't seem to have missed a beat. As before, the grounds remain immaculate and the ambience around the swimming pool - with the fountains, flowers, and fauna - was perfect. The staff also remained about as friendly and helpful as possible, despite how difficult the last two years must have been. The rooms/cottages were still very nice and spotlessly clean, as well as being spacious. But don't expect an ultra-modern feel in terms of the rooms…
Poppies could not have been better for our extended family trip to Bali. Everyone had his own spacious private cottage. the grounds were tranquil and gorgeous with a deep beautiful pool. the staff were gracious. the free brekkie and the dinners were excellent. the resort is located in a crazy chaotic part of kuta on two sides of a laneway. the resort was absolutely perfect for this trip, though only if you want to be in the middle of a chaotic indo city, which was fine for us.
After not being able to visit beautiful Bali for nearly three years, my sister and I finally returned to our little paradise in the middle of busy Kuta. Mr Sujana and his wonderful team greeted us as if it were only yesterday. We have stayed at Poppies on a number of occasions so we were so happy to see they survived Covid and came out eager to greet all their friends/guests. Looking forward to our next visit….soon I hope.
Stayed in Poppies hotel for 3 nights. What i like is that hotel located very convenient. Busy Kuta is just next to it, but once you get inside its so calm and relaxing. Thanks for the team who work there, very kind and professional!
A visit to Poppies Bali is like a private escape to a most special place. Once through the gates into this beautiful garden space, it is easy to forget the chaos of Kuta Beach! In fact, shy leave...unless it is to slip across the alley to Poppie's wonderful restaurant. My first visit there was more than 35 years ago. I can't count the visits since then. Many special occasions...birthdays, anniversaries, reunions...all special and made more so because of the magic of Poppies! I plan to return!
We've just stayed at Poppies for the 7th time and it remains a peaceful and beautiful oasis in the midst of Kuta. We stayed for four nights in room 26 which is at the back and very private. As always the staff are so helpful and polite and I would highly recommend Poppies if you're considering staying in Kuta.
