We have stayed here a number of times would not recommend it or stay here again booked rooms with a cot in one room well no cot had to hire one $ 157 Aussie dollar rooms spell like mould booked 4 rooms had to argue to get at least 3 rooms together and the other on the other side of the hotel that my younger daughter is in by herself then ask for some ice and was told it would be $ 2 for it when you pay $100 plus a night you would think you cold get a bit of ice for nothing well grand barong we will not be staying with you again
Currently in Bali, booked the barong for 8 nights and would not recommend. Changed hotels after 3 nights. Staff were lovely but room was dirty and really not great. we left our clean our room sign out at 8am returned at 6pm and hadn’t even been attended to, water in the shower was cold and would take a good 10 minutes to warm up. Breakfast was below average. Extremely noisy so you only sleep if you have ear plugs. Drunk screaming and fight guests all night, slamming doors and generally being inconsiderate. Location is okay if you’re wanting busy. Road leaving was grid locked at times and it was quicker to walk the same distance instead of drive. I say the staff are lovely but when you compare the place to the hotel we are at now you realise how much the barong is lacking in all areas.…
We are very saddened by the state of the Grand Barong, we have stayed here many times but no more the location is great and staff are friendly but everything else is bad and every visit getting worse, No hot water we told reception many times we need a hot shower but never had one, there was centipedes in our show and mould we had to a few times ask for toilet paper as our cleaner was not restocking it and then once returned to our room to find the cleaner had not closed our door so anybody could of came in so that was a concern. Breakfast has been the same food for years and it is always cold. The swimming pool most of the furniture needs replacing and the whole area needs a good clean. We were really concerned watching intoxicated guests harassing women and families out at the pool and sitting all day at the pool bar and we didn’t use the pool due to this reason. The money exchange is good and reliable. Hopefully the Grand Barong can be refurbished but at the moment we definitely would not recommend staying here and we will find other accommodation in the area for next time.…
We booked a 6 night stay from the 10th until the 16th of April 2022. We have stayed at the Grand Barong Resort 4 times before this trip and this time the hotel management was very dishonest when we booked. Before staying we emailed the hotel and asked if the hotel is up and running after COVID which they responded to with yes. When we arrived we found this to be untrue. The hotel management did not tell us the main pool is green (yes green!!) and no pool bars are open. They had a small pool open but you put your life danger walking around the pool as the decking is rotten, has holes in it and boards lifting up. There is no television channels except for 5 Indonesian channels (3 of which were snowy and not watchable). When we asked about why there was no cable TV, the management told us 'we are looking into it' and I was told by a worker that the hotel owner has not paid for it to be reconnected. At no time did the hotel say there is no TV available when booking. We booked our rooms with breakfast included and expected the hotels buffet breakfast to be open as they told us the hotel was fully running. All we were offered for breakfast was a noodle or rice dish which the hotel had purchased externally from somewhere as it arrived to our room in styrofoam containers and was very cold. We got offered coffee or tea for breakfast and I asked for a mocha or cappuccino and I was told 'NO only plain coffee or tea'. We also found out from another guest there was an 'American' breakfast option which consisted of cold bread with a fried egg on top and two dry pastries. We did not even get offered this breakfast but this is in no way an 'American' breakfast. The hotel was also dirty, every day in the hallways there was cockroaches and bottles from guests rooms were left for days outside their doors. The best part is that when we asked the hotel for a small credit back (not a full refund just a credit) due to their dishonesty this was their response: "Good morning from Bali.... We are really am sorry for the inconvenience,,, Thank you so much for always supporting Grand Barong Resort Bali....It always our pleased if the guest enjoy staying at Grand Barong and will come back to stay again. As you know we have hard time for the last 2 years and we still try to rebuilt our economic again, heard that you will stay with us again we are so happy , we did not mean to dishonest with you and your family. Unfortunately we can not do refund for your stay , Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Best regards, Mei" I find this response to be dishonest again as a worker told us, the hotel owner owns a few hotels around Bali and the others have been renovated and are running again after COVID, just not this one. Proving that suffering through COVID should not be an excuse for the dishonesty and state of this hotel. This response shows how we were treated during our stay at the Grand Barong Resort. If you like staying in a tent, then this is the place . Stay away from this hotel.…
Was promised a refund due to not being allowed to travel due to covid and would have to wait 2 months after my booking date for the refund to arrive. Heard nothing for months and contacted them again to be told they can’t offer me a refund any longer. I have sent 7 emails since and they will not respond to me at all regarding the issue. Poor customer service and blatantly stealing my money.
Planing to come to bali with friends, but due to covind19 which is not aloud us to travel outside the country we have to cancel, the hotel wasn’t very helpful on giving us refund, we have to send them approve from government thats not allowing us to travel outside, now it’s been 6 month since they say will give us the refund, and all we got just an email, and now another email say we have to wait another two month
My money was stolen by the bell boy who was helping with check-ins at the reception. I had kept my money in my passport after receiving change from the taxi driver when I arrived at the hotel. Upon check-in the bell boy asked for my passport for verification purposes. I handed it to him without realising that I had kept money there. He checked me and my husband in and took us to our room. Five minutes later- once we settled in the room, we decided to go out to have dinner. I was looking for my money and realised that my money was missing from my passport. My fault for keeping it there but little did I know that I would be robbed. Lesson learnt! I remembered that it was the bell boy who had my passport when we checked in. I rushed to the reception to see whether the money was the counter. The bell boy was there alone. As soon as he saw me, he bend down as if he was picking something from the ground (from his sock) and then picked something from a box from the counter (looks like a money box or lost and found box). Then he handed me my money. I didn't even have time to ask him about my money. Just like that, I got the money back. However, the money was folded enough to be able to hide in the palm. At that point, I knew something was fishy. I asked him where he found the money but he didn't reply because the reception supervisor arrived at the same time and asked him to do something. I spoke to the reception supervisor and told him the about whole scenario and he apologised. My husband was not happy with a simple apology. He asked if we could review the footage from when we checked in. The supervisor called the reception manager who was least interested to do anything. With much argument and nearly 2 hours of us being at the reception, they agreed to review the footage. You could see the fear in the eyes of the bell boy and the supervisor. 45 mins later, both the supervisor and the bell boy were called inside the manager's office. After 1hr, they came outside and showed us the footage. You could clearly see that the bell boy slide the money out of the passport when he was holding it however, they came out with this understanding that the money fell in between the desk and the computer. That was all they wanted to believe and wanted us to believe the same made up story. Unfortunately there was nothing that we could do to prove that the money was stolen. I did not feel safe staying there and I asked them to refund my 5 days booking so that I can stay at another hotel. The reception supervisor refused to refund me and said that I should go to the police station if I wanted to complain and investigate further. He had the most horrible attitude and was looking at me in disgust. The attitude was not there in the beginning. He knew that his belief was backed by the management and he didn't care anymore. The reception is in a high traffic area and at that point many people had seen us argue for hours. A lovely Australian lady approached us to check if we were Ok and told us that she knows the owner. In fact, the owner was next door in the pub. She went to get him and he spoke to us and understood the situation. Upon his request, the reception supervisor had no choice but process the refund. As the refund was made via a third party website, it took several calls, emails Great Barong and months to get it back but I did get it back eventually (It was another headache to deal with them for the refund). Anyways, that night we left and stayed in another hotel and had a great stay for 5 days. We were robbed and insulted by the reception staff, wasted 5hours of our evening and it is something we will never forget. We will never return back to Bali.…
Had a fun girls trip here. Rooms were clean. Breakfast buffet was yum. On Poppies 2 lots of bars, shopping all at your door. Highly recommend but if a party place. Swimming up bar a must here. The lagoon rooms some of the girls had were awesome open your door and swim off verandah.
We know Kuta can be a bit hectic, but we wanted to stay closer to the airport before we flew out of Bali. They put us in one of the rooms closest to the Royal Jack Sports Bar which plays loud music ending some time between 11pm and 1am. Definitely not restful. We also booked a double/queen bedroom and they gave us a room with twin beds. Room was a decent design. Some good English channels on the tv. Could have been a bit cleaner. Provided robes, a kettle, coffee/tea. Great location. Close to some great cafes and eateries (like Crumb & Coaster) and short walk to the Beachwalk shopping center and the beach. Easy drive to the airport from here. I would only stay here again if we would be given a quieter room.
First of all I would like to thank the Grand Barong Resort for giving us a credit from December when our airline went on strike to use in February Thanks again. We have stayed here 4 times now but things have changed for the worst. The restaurant for breakfast is so poor in service no one comes over to you. Everyday had to ask for cutlery tables. Every other stay, staff would ask if you wanted any coffee now most staff just stand around and wait for empty plates to be moved off. This hotel needs a code of conduct in place for guests and not a two warning policy because what happened on the night of Monday 17TH of February was very unacceptable in the pool area. Young men fighting and yelling out I going to F..... Kill you which went on for about ten minutes was not acceptable for any hotel to allow this kind of person to stay on. They should have been kicked out immediately. From that day my wife and I never used the pool area again we felt very unsafe. The hotel overall is good value and close to everything. Some guests let it down, and management need to get tougher with unruly behaviour and act straight away.…
