We booked the all inclusive package deal from Trip-a-Deal. I had read so many very mixed reviews for this hotel so I was really nervous as I had booked for 5 other families. We are a family of 5 which makes booking hotels really difficult, our kids are 10, 9 and 5. However the major attraction for us was that the all inclusive was free for kids 5 and under. So we didn’t have to pay any extra for our 5 year old, using the existing bedding. For this reason we booked interconnecting rooms with 2 king beds as we knew that all three of our kids could sleep in 1 king bed. When we first arrived we were very impressed with the size and feel of the lobby and the grounds. It really looked 5 star! Unfortunately they told us when we checked in that we couldn’t have two king beds. They were going to push the two single beds together and put a quilt over it, which I wasn’t really happy about. Our first impressions of the room was not the best. They are a little tired, but they are spacious and clean. It turns out each room as a little day bed/couch which they turned into a bed for my 5 year old. It was perfect!! So any family’s with three kids, with under 5’s - the existing bedding works!! Also the king bed is massive!! I would say it’s a super king! In regards to the pool, we liked how it was open and layered so you can keep an eye on your kids. Although they need more pool beds. There is simply not enough for everyone! The breakfast- probably the worst thing. It was ok, but definitely could improve. It’s also really hard to know where everything is as it’s really spread out. The restaurants and drinks - because we had the all inclusive package we literally ordered cocktails, juices and food all day long. Sometimes service was a little slow, but all in all it was excellent that we could do this and know that we weren’t paying any extra. Beautiful ice cream and cakes were also available all day and the pool menu was a full menu of all types of food. The only thing on the menu that was a small surcharge was steak, which was excellent and some seafood, but it was only $5-$10 extra. We have been lucky to stay the Mulia and some other fancy hotels before, so sometimes we would find ourselves comparing and complaining. But on reflection we really had a great time, the food and drinks was greatand it so much more comforting knowing that we didn’t check out with a huge bill of cocktails and food! This place is perfect for families and groups, I highly recommend the all inclusive package!

We booked our 8 day stay at Merusaka through Luxury Escapes, and we bought this package because it was marketed as a new hotel. It was clearly not new, there were lots of areas around the hotel that showed its age. The hotel has been rebranded but is not new. We booked a pool access room. The room itself was very clean, there was not very much wardrobe space, no drawers and no where to store your suitcases. The safe was located on the bottom shelf down on the floor, so not easy to use. There were no drawers in the bathroom, but there was a beautiful free standing bath taking up half of the bathroom. The area may have been better used to create a wardrobe space. There were only two power points in the bedroom/sitting room, neither were easy to access. We had to ask for a power board and extension lead. There were tea and coffee making facilities provided, but to plug the kettle in we would have had to put it on the floor. Milk is only provided on request and not replenished. There was only one chair in the room and the day bed was so impractical and uncomfortable to sit on. We had trouble getting hot water in the mornings to shower. We would turn the shower on and have to wait 15 mins before we could use it. The bed was very comfortable and the towels were changed everyday. Our room staff were great, the room was always kept clean and when asked they left us extra water each day. The restaurants were lovely, staff were great, buffet breakfast is huge, with lots of different options available. The pools are well maintained, the lounges at the pools are left with people's towels on them that have long left. So when you go to get a pool towel there is none available. The towels are way past their use by date They are thin and frayed and have the name of the previous hotel on them. We were expecting a 5 star resort, like the Grand Hyatt next door but it is a long way off. As I said in the beginning not what we expected. We stayed in Room 7117

I came to this resort when it was Anaya Putri a few years back and I would like to see where the renovations were done as the place is looking very tired. Our fridge and tv were not working when arrived, furniture very old with lots of marks, mould around the bath. Room cleaning is just ok. The pool towels have holes in them and frayed and I wouldn’t even use them as rags. Food and beverages are left all day next to the pool as no one has cleaned it up. 1 day of the 10 we had 1 person ask us if we wanted a drink. The pool decking in 1 area I felt we could fall through and tiles missing around the pool. The place is falling apart and I think lots of these high ratings was done when this place was in its prime. The sad thing is I am still at this resort now as I write this. I travel often and rarely have I written a negative review. This place needs upgrading desperately

The ocean view suit was amazing. The view was beautiful. The pools were clean and inviting. The food was amazing and the choice was extensive. Plenty on the menu,Something different every night. The personal service shown from staff was second to none. Pitriani Kadek in the main restaurant is an asset to the Merusaka team she made sure we were looked after including my 3 year old son (which would run up to her when ever he saw her). We enjoyed private picnic on the beach which was a lovely experience and again the food cooked was lovely. The cocktails there was fantastic We enjoyed the Merusaka so much we booked another holiday there in Dec/Jan. so looking forward to returning

Thank you, Amanda, I really appreciate your comments and will certainly pass them onto the team here and to those you specifically mention. Comments are important to everyone here, all of our staff and management here are trying to make everyone’s holiday or business stay special - we’re not 100% and we’re working on those areas where we are not, but your comments help to show everyone here at the hotel that we are getting the main things right most of the time. Thank you. Looking forward to seeing you on your return at the end of the year. Ian Cameron General Manager

After reading a previous review I had the thought “oh my gosh and I’m going THERE” but very pleased to say and confirm our time there was extremely pleasant. Yes the bathroom’s can ‘look’ dirty but they certainly were not in our Villa it is just the look of them basically in all accommodation in Bali noting the water along with the proximity to the beach/ocean. I/we are not saying all was well with our exterior bathroom as not to get to excited by the ‘rain’ shower as no rain⁉️ The attendants for our Villa are to be commended, our experience in all restaurants to be commended, plus friendliness from staff and other guests to be commended. A shout out to Gedes, for the laughs plus help with word puzzle, Jesen, for top service in the Bistro each and every day. Plus can’t forget to give Agus a shout out for the time he gave us in friendliness. I have no mention of the Spa as we didn’t use it although we did have ‘vouchers’ for the facility. Would we return - yes and yes again if we could get the same deal as we had on this visit. The above is our experience when we stayed at the resort. Thank you Merusaka Resort.

Bali has been my favorite place for vacation over the last 4 years. This is my fourth time at Merusaka with my husband, we don't want even to try anything else! Merusaka is a beautiful place for vacation. The beach, the accommodation and the service are exceptionally good. The breakfast is varied and delicious. The staff is nice. We would like to send special thanks to Kumang Kariana. He is our cleaner, who is always very nice and hospitable. It is very pleasant to meet people like him. Thank you for the lovely holiday

Great resort in a more peaceful area of Bali. Nice rooms, plenty of good food options, great options for pools, nice and clean, close to the beach. The staff are fantastic, special mention to Sandi, Putu and Andre amongst many others, they all do their very best to make your stay very welcoming, one of the best resorts we've been to. We'll be back...

Rooms were ok but bath water stank, fridge was too warm even maintenance guy couldn’t fix, said it was normal..did offer free ice buckets though..balcony had a concrete wall that u couldn’t see over when sitting down (only on 4th floor) with only one chair..no sofa lounges near pool and only a few table/chairs..some cocktails were made with pre mix, pina colada was awful and beers were warm.. woken up 4am by earthquake, staff were useless at giving advice in case of tsunami or aftershocks.. breakfast was good but had to ask for tea and it was always cold.. overall there are better places to stay

Response from MERUSAKA Nusa Dua, General Manager at Merusaka Nusa Dua
Responded 3 weeks ago
Dear Kiksi, There was an earthquake during your stay here, they’re not common but we are in that part of the world. There is a national early warning system for possible tsunami, which is an audible alarm all over the Nusa Dua area, so if that is not broadcasting then there is no perceived threat of tsunami. I have asked that all our front line staff be trained again in giving this information accurately to guests following any tremor. We do hold regular training for evacuation, both horizontally and vertically, if the tsunami warning were to sound but I do take your point that perhaps staff are not giving the correct message clearly enough if there is no warning. Thank you for your comments on this. Ian Cameron General manager

Very dissapointed for a 5 star resort. Have stayed her many times including the old inaya putri. I just think its lack of maintenance generally. Staff on the ground are nice and friendly with good service, but it's like sausages - don't open them up and look inside you might not like what you find! We books 3 rooms and friends booked another 3 for our birthday bash. Our initial room was musty/smelly/mildue. We had booking issues and had to sort that out, and from their on had issue after issue. Good moved to another room but had to put up with single beds for us all. Battled to get our discounts applied when eating and using the spa. Hotel bikes were few and far between and rusted - an after thought really.... no shower caps each day (i know a minor problem but it all adds up) specially when your paying $300 plus dollars a day. Everything you purchase buy have comes with a lovely surprise of Gov. Tax and service charge of about 23% which of course comes at a shock when the lunch bill comes out. Initial menu doesn't mention that in the price. I just think they are making up for lost time during covid when their profits were down. So we essentially booked 6 rooms and had many issues - result "sorry for this" no compensation. We have returned from hols and suffering from the poor air con. and mould in rooms. Stay somewhere else! be warned. ps. tried to have a bath in the lovely big baths and got brown water and no hot water for my troubles!

Response from MERUSAKA Nusa Dua, General Manager at Merusaka Nusa Dua
Responded 2 days ago
Dear Rob9873 There were some issues with your bookings, some rooms in your party booked through Booking.com and some directly though our own hotel website. Naturally we guarantee the best deal available if booking directly though our hotel website and we can do this by offering special discounts in the restaurants and Spa. You wished these discounts to apply to even those rooms booked through Booking.com, which obviously we could not agree to. With regards to the restaurant billing, all our menus show prices including tax and service. Our menus are all on our website and can be seen at any time. On the bill, of course, we show the tax and service separately, we are required to so by law and also if it is a business expense then many people will need to know the actual amount of tax paid. But the total for any dish is exactly as is shown on the menu. I believe that we are one of the only hotels in Nusa Dua to show tax and service included in our menu prices and we do this entirely so there are no hidden costs or surprises on receiving the bill. On the maintenance side, we have done so much work since the pandemic, and some of this is still ongoing. I am happy to say, for example, we will be re-painting the entire exterior of all our buildings over the next few weeks, and completely re-modelling our gym also over this period. Best regards. Ian Cameron General Manager
