The place itself was fine actually, breakfast was quite nice with a bowl of fresh fruit and omlette/pancake. It didn't start well with the staff though, since they took the remote for the AC although we paid for it and they tried to make us pay a higher price than the one we talked about (with AC). Next thing the...

We booked with Raka because it was mentioned in the Lonely planet. Raka owns and maintains a couple of rooms in his family compound. Raka is a friendly man who is always up for a chat, his english is not very good so make sure you understand eachother when making agreements. The good: We had a room on the 1st...

Our family of five travelled visited Ubud early in July 2014. We loved our stay at Raka House. Just six rooms at the rear of Raka's family compound, which is lovingly tended by Raka himself. We loved our homestay experience in this quiet, but very centrally located, street. Our three children loved the pool and I loved sitting with a...

My friend and I were looking for a cheap, friendly home stay in a central location while we explored Ubud. Couldn't have found a better place, Raka, his son and family are lovely, very welcoming and happy to help with anything you need! We organised a few trips with his son, but on days when we wanted to do our...

I have stayed Raka many times over many years min.5 years. Booking in tonight I read this neg review... 100% unbelievable. Staff are typical Bali, friendly/helpful. Raka himself is kindness and welcoming...as is Bali/ esp Ubud. And those I have meet there over the years have been just as rewarding. I am an older traveller and would recommend Raka handsdown...

I love Bali for its culture, art and simple way of living. I've been to Bali 3 times now, and been to Ubud twice. In the 2 times that I've been in Ubud, I found myself loving the peaceful stay at Raka's House. In May 2012: This was my graduation trip, fresh out of school, packed with a sense of...

This was my home in Ubud for a little over 2 weeks, I just wish I had found it sooner. Rooms and bathroom large with a nice balcony. The pool is small but enough to cool off in. The wifi can be a bit temperamental but otherwise, with only 6 rooms & a warm welcome, you really do stay like...

We booked on Agoda with a different hotel, but apparently despite having a booking they were full and moved us down the street to the Raka House. We paid 25 American dollars a night, including breakfast. First off, the good... The rooms are huge and quite nice. The bathroom was also large, with a separate shower and bath. It was...

To dispel the previous comments that the staff are pushy at Raka House it must be remembered that Indonesians always inquire about what you are doing. The staff in question are not super proficient in English, so it may appear that their inquiries were aimed at selling you something when they were not. That being said, if you are the...

“I prefer the ground floor rooms.... more across the courtyard mixing with other 'guests'. Also steps are steep. Also I use storage fac while I travel further afield. Really, Rakka is homelike.”
