First of all : the people working at Pugig Homestay , from Zet at the reception to Gusti responsible for the garden and Ketut and Ajou , they all made me feel very much at home ! To see their smiling , friendly faces is mood enhancing every morning and they always tried to find an answer to my questions or help me with a request and when I left after more then a month , I had the feeling to lose a kind of family . Penestanan where Pugig Homestay is located is a beautiful place to stay at Ubud : a lot of paths without cars nor motor bikes , a calm setting with trees, beautiful gardens . A lot of vegan good restaurants and also Warungs , a good yoga studio and friendly people every where. As I read a critic about the cleanness , I would like to inform that I have already been staying at a more expensive hotel next to Monkey Forest Park in down town Ubud and it was less clean, though I payed more for my stay ! The interiors of the rooms are very tasty and some of them quite 'design' . This changes from the more kitch style decoration, I have experienced at other homestays in Bali. I will return again to Pugig Homestay !

Whenever I come to Bali I stay in these fantastic little resort in the middle of the jungle. 10 minuted from Ubud downtown in the quiet Penestanan area you can enjoy the beautiful nature on the huge terrace of your room. It is a family business and everything is well organised. Every morning there is a variety of breakfast with lots of fruits. Laundry and motorbikes are also available. I just love this little paradise!!!

We stayed in the family appartment. It was very big and beautifull. The kids loved the pool and we enjoyed everything about the place. Very helpfull and friendly staff. We arranged private transportion from the airport because we came very late at night, and again from Ubud to Gilimanuk on our way to Java. Very safe and comfortable.

We had 3 nights staying here, arriving with my husband who had the 'Bali Belly' which he kindly passed on to me the next day! That aside, and I'm not allowing that to cloud my judgements, my thoughts are I wouldn't choose to stay here. I didn't think the rooms were that clean - maybe I'm a clean freak! My daughter and partner had another room and we all wanted to book out the night we arrived. If you want basic accommodation at a cheap price - this is for you! The room is large and the outside deck we had was awesome. Beds are VERY firm. Banana pancakes were yum. It is a good 10 min walk into Ubud and there are a lot of stairs...coming back to Pugig in the middle part of the stairs I counted 63 steps in the middle of the walk up ...so probably 100 steps altogether, great exercise! I not knocking this place - it is good value for what it is. Our driver was 1.5hrs late in picking us up from Seminyak - we suspect they forgot to pick us up! Cheap motorbike hire😀

Stayed one night as the start of an Indonesian adventure. It's exactly what was needed. Near enough to walk into Ubud, but far enough away to miss the manic traffic. Staff were great, and it 'does what it says on the tin'. Bit of a full on event going on in the next door temple, but fascinating to hear it all going on. They also sorted us out with a boat to Lombok the next day, which all worked out perfectly, as did our airport pick up. Highly recommend as an affordable way to do Ubud.

We stayed there two nights in the "low budget" room, but it was more than low budget, just amazing! Nice, clean and big room, own bathroom, great breakfast included, swimming pool, very friendly teammembers and we got a lot of tips for our journey through Indonesia from Zet and Sven.

I discovered this jewel through a friend and was more than satisfied. I came here to visit the palmleaf library. Not only the familiar atmosphere, also the huge room in the middle of the jungle. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I enjoyed every morning the excellent breakfast. I will definitely go back and enjoy again. Thanks for this wonderful experience!

Each room is different, but they all make the most of the setting with open living spaces and lovely outlook. I was very happy here in this peaceful little pocket of Penastenan. Away from the congestion yet a pleasant walk along lane ways to the main road and the Bintang supermarket. Also close to the wonderful Intuitive Flow yoga room.

Located in a really quiet neighborhood just outside Penastanan and just a 10 minute walk to Ubud. Owners are really friendly and very helpful. They were very accommodating when a your agent messed up our pick up place to catch the ferry to Gili Trangawan. However, be warned that the houses are open, in that bugs can freely enter at night.
