Very poor. Sure they waited for us to check in late and we appreciate that but upon check in, we found the mattress was covered with sand like particles under the comforter and there was even a period blood stain on the mattress protector. How can this even be acceptable??? what we thought would be basic toiletries in any hotel room was missing... no shower gel, no shampoo. My wife had to go look for these basic items in the middle of the night. Doesn't these things comes as default in any accomodation? Very poor. Don't be mislead by the photos or the reviews. We asked about the spa packages and even that we were told the therapist has gone back home to her hometown and we were told to check out another nearby spa.

Just been to The Sowan Ubud Spa. It was just in one word: Great! Feeling like re-born after a treatment at the spa. The place itself and the surroundings are beautiful and peaceful. Proffesional, friendly staff. Thanks for the tea! For me The Sowan Ubud Spa is also good value for money also! To be recommended if you are looking for a spa. I will go back there on my next visit to Ubud!

We stayed for 1,5 week at the Sowan and we founded it the perfect place to visit Ubud and surrounding places. The staff is really friendly, the rooms are spacious and clean. The rooms get cleaned daily. The pool is big enough to cool down and relaxed on a warm Bali day. Its surrounded by tropical plants this gifs it a natural feeling. The Sowan got their own scooters for rent, 50k a day. Good scooters for a reasonable price! There is a laundry service, it’s probably cheaper to do it yourself, but that takes also some time off from your vacation. Breakfast is included. The current owners Mark&Tia are very welcoming and lovely. They will help you with every question. Thanks for the stay!!

Wonderful quiet spot for a truly restful vacation. I had a room on the second floor facing a small rice field, and nature sounds would gently wake me up every morning. Breakfast is served in the room daily whenever you are ready, accompanied by housemade fruit lemonade and incredible Balinese coffee. Staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcomed and went above and beyond to help me resolve banking matter. One of the staff members, ginger Marmelade, was hospitality personified, coming up to my room every night and wishing me meowlicious dreams. Loved the area as well, away from bustling downtown but close to a great spa and a nice raw vegan spot, and neighbors run a small taxi operation, so it’s never a problem to get to downtown even if one doesn’t rent bike or car. Highly recommended and I will definitely be back

The Sowan feels like a retreat. It was so peaceful and calming with beautiful surroundings and the soft noises of nature. We only had one night here unfortunately and didn't get to use the pool - but it was clean and looked inviting. The staff were lovely here - very attentive and efficient - as seems to be in most places we come across in Bali. Our breakfast was served on our verandah - we loved it totally. The room and bathroom were clean, well laid out and a good size. Perhaps the curtains need blockout fabric behind them, as I found it to be very light at night (from the exterior/pool lighting) and in the early hours from the sun. The location suited us perfectly being out of town - easy to leave from for our road trip. Perfect if you have your own scooter, away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud centre. Excellent value for money.
