On the outside a standard looking hotel, the reception area is lovely very art deco and steeped in that era, the problem is that when you enter the rooms its like they have not been changed since the same period, room stank of smoke although i had requested non smoking , a double room when i did requested a king size bed and the bathroom was filthy, the fan above the bath was all brown and mouldy and evidence of the mould was littered all over the bath, thank god i was only there for one night as there was no way i was stepping in that to have a shower. I went to phone reception for some drinks and the phone did not work. The breakfast offering was ok but nothing spectacular, not somewhere i would stay for any length of time

As I entered this hotel back in 2001, I carried with me a secret plan; I wanted to find the ghost room. After a few days of staying at the hotel, I started asking the staff to point me to the famous ghost room. Their response would always be something like, yes, there is a room, but I will lose my job if I tell you. One day, while I talked to one of the staff regarding this topic, he told me that the thought of sleeping in this room so terrified him that he would not do it, even for 1 million USD. That surprised me. He also told me about the "Dutch woman" whose appearance would always be preceded by the smell of sweet flowers. The next day the staff member told me the room number, room 208. Finally, the day had come where I would finally see if the stories were real. I had charged my video camera all night and had it in my hand as I approached the front desk. I told one of the people at the check-in desk that I would like to switch from my current room to room 208. The guy's face when black as he quietly stared at me for about 10 seconds, seemingly searching for the correct response. He finally replied with a "Please wait, mister" as he walked off to a back room. After almost a minute, a well-dressed man, who appeared to be a manager, came out from the back and told me that he was sorry but that the room was not ready right now. I told him that I had gone upstairs and saw that it was clean and that I was okay with its current condition. Eventually, after I persisted, they allowed me to stay in the room. An old bellhop was tasked with guiding me up to the room. He had a troubled look on his face as he waited for me to finish at the front desk. When we arrived on the 2xx floor, he suddenly turned to the right instead of the left and told me, "this room mister, very good!". When I insisted that I stay in room 208, he again looked distraught as we walked over to the room. The old room was very interesting ( it has since been renovated). A wooden separator with beautifully carved wood and stained glass divided the room into the front and bedroom sections. As I talked with my friend on the bed, the smell of potpourri and Jasmin suddenly filled the room. We both commented on how nice the scent was and kept talking, forgetting what was mentioned to me about the "Dutch woman's perfume" smelling like flowers. Suddenly my friend, who was from Bandung, but spoke English very well, said, "What the hell is that"! As I turned around, I saw something that looked like smoke or a small could in the corner of the room while at the same time noticing an extraordinary feeling coming over me and something like the feeling of static electricity and chills on my body. This is a very long story, and it goes on for days. So I will stop here and say this: I love this hotel, and I have stayed in Bandung for many years. If you are not a very adventurous person with a solid mental state, stay out of room 208, but if you are, then you might give it a try. For 99% of people, I would recommend not staying in room 208. But this hotel has charm and distinction when it comes to Bandung hotels, and I would encourage anyone to give it a try in any other room, and those who want to live on the edge, you might try room 208.

I've been to Bandung many times, and this time I decided to try staying at one of the legendary hotels in Bandung, Savoy Homann Hotel. Entered the hotel, greeted with friendly staff. Health protocols well done. An old piano was placed in the lobby, and interestingly, on the piano there is a description that Charlie Caplin had danced on the piano. Cool.. The room I stayed in was very spacious. There is a guest chair and a work table in the room. The equipment in the room is functioning well. Room cleanliness is also good. Something that is quite disturbing is the smell that comes out from bathroom and the sound of vehicles heard into the room. Taste of food at breakfast is quite good, but there are not many choices. Overall, this hotel is ok. I'll back to stay again
