I had high expectations of this place but it surpassed all expectations in every way. Location-wise, I could see the beach and the sea from the veranda of my place. The beach was clean and peaceful with ample seating made of wood, which integrated so well with the natural surroundings. The room itself was built and furnished with so much attention to detail--there was an array of mosquito repellent products and clear instructions on how to keep the bugs out. The room was furnished with various Indonesian wood carved furniture. The room opens out to the wooden doors on the left and right which holds the toilet and the showers respectively. which was very thoughtful. There was seating in the back that overlooks the stream with bamboo curtains on either side for privacy. One can tell that alot of thought went into making the room comfortable for guests with the amount of detail in this. And that the front were chairs, a hammock and plenty of space to relax and enjoy the ocean breeze. To add to the level of detail, there was even a huge pot of water and a tap for one to wash their feet before entering. I had 2 massage services there, the prices were extremely reasonable and the staff very professional and well spoken. Every room is a stand alone hut that looks out to the greenery and stream so you are literally enjoying a message in the heart of nature. In the wider area of the resort there were dedicated huts for making pizza, BBQ and every table in the restaurant is a stand alone thing which offers plenty of space and privacy. I had all my meals there and everything I ordered was absolutely delicious, I even ordered food to take back home to Singapore for my family. The staff was a standout--they were professional, hospitable and patient. They were always taking the initiative to ask you if you would like to order something and everything you requested from them was attended to, right away. There were times of blackout and limited wireless internet but these were attended to right away from the team. To top off an already amazing stay, they waited for me to finish my already late dinner, and as a team, walked out in the rain with an umbrella to where I was sitting, with a birthday cake, birthday song and all. I was incredibly moved by the lengths that this team gone to make my stay comfortable. And bear in mind that we are still in the monsoon season, where low number of guests can mean low level of service in some other places. Over here, it looks like whether it is low season or not, the staff and facilities and services are still offered at 100% quality. There were also 2 adorable puppies for anyone who enjoy hanging out with animals. Although the weather didn't allow me to do any snorkelling which was my original purpose in coming, it allowed me to discover this peaceful sanctuary, and I'm certainly looking forward to visiting again in better weather! This is definitely the spot to go to for those seeking a respite from the hectic pace of city life, especially for those in Singapore, since it is a mere ferry ride away. …
Mutiara shares with me the concept of Wabi-sabi where I learnt to find beauty in imperfection and accept the more natural cycle of life. It may not have the “perfection” of a luxury hotel stay, but it invites me to open my heart to the beauty of simplicity. Stay Rustic, kampung villas that are steps away from the beach where you can listen to the calming sea breeze and sounds of the cicadas and palms trees rustling. Yes, there were creepy crawlies but the beds have mosquito nets, mosquito repellent cream and coils which are thoughtfully prepared for you. One of my nights, I had a firefly, and I was delighted. Fans is installed to keep the room cool and expect cold but clean showers. Food Fresh local produce is a main draw as part of Mutiara’s eco-friendly philosophy. Staff handpicked the coconuts from the trees at the resort, self dough the pizzas that are placed in the firewood oven and prepared delicious varieties of Indonesia food. The price may be more expensive compared to street food but it’s worth it for the hygiene and great taste. Amenities The exclusive beach is definitely the highlight where one can have a close-up experience with the sea treasures like sand dollars, crabs and corals. Chuck away your phone (although there’s free wifi) and read a book, practice yoga by the beach or dip yourself in the waters. There’s also swings and sun beds for both young and old. The heritage Beach Club house offers a variety of activities: kayaks, wave boards, stand up paddles, volleyballs, footballs and pétanque. The river spa is also a big hit. You can take a boat or walk to the river spa, and they provide different body scrubs and massages to relax your muscles after playing by the beach. Staff They make me feel like I’m at home. Genuine, friendly people who accommodated to my special dietary requests. During new year eve, the staff specially prepared a three-course dinner and went door to door to ask which main course we would like to have. The owner even went to the extra mile to buy fireworks, arrange for firework permit, and the staff lit them up to mark the start of the year. Special Highlights Bonfire on Saturday nights (if weather permits). A starry night walk by the beach where you see the moon, mars, jupiter among other stars is a big romantic treat.…
Quiet, relaxing and welcome break ! We came here with our son after a 1 hour boat ride (and then one hour taxi) from Singapore for a 2 night break from Singapore. The guest house is set in an idyllic location amongst the tree and on a peaceful and beautiful beach. The accommodation is basic and the setting very 'roots' but that's what we came here for. (No hot water in shower etc...but that's the charm of it 😉). The personnel are all very serviable and friendly. We were the only people at the hotel the first night and then joined by another couple .. Soooo quiet !! No-one at all on the beautiful beach !!. The food is good and fresh. Altogether great value for money !! We highly recommend!!
This is a great little find. We came from Singapore and found a total contrast which was lovely. We were the only guests at the resort but this didn't matter. The staff were very attentive. We went Kayaking and used the Stand up paddle boards on site. The team arranged us a day trip, with a guide, to Tanjung Pinang and also an amazing mangrove boat trip to see the fireflys. As others have mentioned the mosquitoes can be a little annoying but the grounds, spa, beach and sea more than made up for it! We hope yo visit again soon!
A true tropical paradise… the resort is set in lush tropical forest, facing onto a beautiful secluded beach if white sand and azure sea. The ‘kampong’ style accommodation is simple but comfortable. The area is remote and peaceful, yet atmospheric, with a nearby mosque giving regular calls to prayer. The proprietor is extremely helpful and knowledgeable; the staff are helpful, charming and professional. Mosquitoes can be irritating, but that comes with the environment, and free repellent and cream are in constant supply. We came for a break from Singapore… what a contrast and hard to believe the two places are separated by only two hours’ travel by ferry and car.
Experience and Embrace Nature. Go to Mutiara Beach Resort for a Total Spa relaxation. The food is superb and the hospitality is charming. Early morning swim at the beach is a must!! The Dutch friends W & E
Had the pleasure of staying here for 3 days and meeting the hospitable team. Loved how rustic and tucked away it is from the other commercialised resorts, nestled in nature and peace. Special shout-out to the chef for the amazing food. Every meal impressed me and I enjoyed my solo time. The beach was also clean and well-maintained, which I appreciated. You’ll see majestic sunrises if you rise early! Overall definitely a great stay for people seeking a respite from the hustle & bustle, and if you enjoy true Indonesian cuisine :)
The Mutiara Eco Beach Resort was our first stop on a trip to Singapore and India. I really wanted a beachy part of the trip and Singapore just doesn't do beaches (not the way I wanted). I booked 2 nights at the Mutiara and I am so glad that I did. After landing in Singapore we raced to the ferry terminal and took the Sindo Ferry to Bintan Island. The resort was very responsive to messages and help me set up a driver who picked us up and drove us to Mutiara. When we arrived we were soooo tired from traveling for 18 hours from the US West Coast. Everything about Muitara was perfect. The staff were so kind and accomodating. We got there on Valentine's day and were able to book a couples massage in these adorable little huts on stilts over the water. That was a great surprise as we had not booked ahead! The cabin was very simple, the mesh around the bed protected us from any bugs and we slept well listening to the ocean through the rattan of the hut. Despite only being there for 2 days, we took full advantage of all they had to offer! The meals were so good! The staff is excellent at letting you know that you need to order your meals in a timely fashion, as they are made to order. There was a beach bar with yummy rum drinks and we enjoyed swimming and lounging on the deck of the boathouse. We rose early and walked the beach at sunrise both days. They are very good about treating their sand and I honestly don't think I got bit by a single bug. We were able to hire a scooter from one of the staff and do a little tour of the north end of Bintan and Trikora Beach which was super fun. To round out the experience there was a puppy called Leesa that we totally fell in love with! The hospitality and level of service at Mutiara Beach Resort was on par with anywhere I have ever been, the people of Indonesia are so kind and gracious! The price at the end for our accommodation, drinks, food, and massages literally blew our socks off! We often talk about how great it would be to go back! Don't miss this gem of a place!…
We decided for a quick last minute get away to Mutiara, as we went there for pizza once last year. Those are even better now, incredibly yummy... our beach hut, or villa, has all the necessities and no frills to worry about. The sound of the waves was extremely soothing. Next morning coffee was local and excellent and service sweet and efficient. Very good classic 75 minute massage; no music, only a symphony of birds accompanying. Our baby girl loved the white sandy beach which was immaculate. No need for mini bar or phone, the lovely staff were constantly bouncing around taking afternoon orders for snacks and ice cold beers, promptly delivered. Cold (not ice cold!) shower was a treat and we didn’t miss the lack of A/C for a second, relishing in the sea breeze. Top value for your money. The Swiss owner Marc was ever present in the background supporting a great team. Terima kasih we’ll be back soon!…
From Singapore it is only an hour ferryride and 50k with taxi. Two hours from Changi and the we arrived in a lush paradise with a white pristine beach. We checked into a bungalow, the standard is simple, by everything is clean and with attention to detail and with all comforts. The beach is amazing, the spa is unreal on poles in the river and the food and service from the friendly and social staff is all five points. We highly recommend Mutiara, totally tranquil paradise a couple of hours from Singapore.
