Close to Singapore lies a sweep of brilliant Indonesian islands, the most spectacular of which are found in the Riau Archipelago. Bintan Island has long been one of the region's most popular destinations. Banyan Tree Bintan occupies 240 hectares on the sea front and is comprised of 72 villas modeled on traditional Balinese architecture, all beautifully located in virgin forest. Opt for the resort's oceanfront villas with jetpools built into their sun decks, or indulge yourself in the pool villas which have their own private infinity pools. Culinary variety is the name of the game with "Treetops" offering Indonesian cuisine in an air-conditioned or al fresco setting while the signature Saffron Restaurant serves Thai and South East Asian specialties. "The Cove," is modern and up-tempo; Mediterranean cuisine is prepared here to perfection. You can also dine in your own villa - simply order from the a la carte menu or make a selection from the BBQ dinners cooked in front of your eyes.

Banyan Tree Bintan is celebrated by guests for its exceptional service and amenities, from the variety of dining options to the luxurious spa, and its picturesque beach location. The rooms receive accolades for their amenities, views, and cleanliness, though some suggest they could benefit from updates.
While the hotel commands a premium, many feel the cost is justified by the quality of service and the enchanting, romantic atmosphere. Despite occasional feedback for enhancement, the resort's commitment to cleanliness and personalized experience stands out.

Hotel's Favourite
This is my first trip to Bintan and I had chosen to stay at Banyan Tree Bintan, an Accor group of hotels. This resort along with other independent properties, sits on the northern coast of Bintan Island, which are hosted by Bintan Resorts.
I had taken a one-hour ferry ride from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal in Singapore to Bintan’s Bandar Bentan Telani Ferry Terminal. The property is a 15 mins car ride from the ferry terminal. I had arranged a return transportation with the hotel at IDR350,000 (SGD31 | USD23).
Security is good at Banyan Tree Bintan. To access the resort, you are required to first pass through the security checkpoint of Bintan Resorts grounds before reaching another security checkpoint located at Banyan Tree Bintan.
Banyan Tree Bintan is comprised of 64 villas modelled on traditional Balinese architecture and beautifully located in a forest and seaside setting. This resort has been operating for 28 years since 1995. With that in mind, I would say the vibe here is rustic luxury. Although the furnishings look dated, I am impressed the management had maintained it well. The interior was newly painted, the wood furnishings had been varnished, with the shower fittings and air-conditioning unit looking new. By managing this expectation, you will be able to enjoy your stay here.
For my two night’s stay, I had booked the Rainforest Seaview Villa (No. 204). This villa is conveniently located by foot to the hotel lobby, hotel restaurants and pool area. The resort is huge and if you are housed in a villa at the far end, no worries, the buggy service is always at your service. Simply WhatsApp or call the reception staff to arrange one and the buggy shall be at the doorstep of your villa in 5 mins.
My villa offers a King Size Bed that can accommodate 02 guests. I had reserved an extra bed which costs USD100++, which includes daily buffet breakfast service. Due to limited space at the villa, the extra bed is actually a day bed prepared with bed linen and pillows.
The villa is housed within a forest canopy, which allows you to connect with nature. You can hear the chirping of birds, see bats and occasionally hear the soothing sea waves. For the guest’s comfort and well-being, fogging in the resort is performed during the late nights on every Tuesday and Thursday. The hotel is also thoughtful to provide mosquito coils at the property.
The Wi-Fi connectivity in the villa and resort grounds is good. Although there is no SMART TV, you can enjoy their more than 20 Cable TV channels such as CCTV, NHK World Japan, HBO, HBO Hit & HBO Signature.
The shower experience was good, though not excellent. The bathroom offers a bathtub with Hansgrohe shower fittings. I prefer using the hand held shower than the rain shower as I felt the shower pressure was intermittently strong. At times, the shower water was warm and cold the next. However, I like that the bath towel is thick and fluffy.
There are three food and beverage establishments in the resort namely:
1 Treetops - Opens for breakfast from 6.30am to 10.30am and lunch and dinner from 11.30am - 11pm.
2. Saffron - Opens for dinner from 6pm to 11pm and lunch from 12pm to 5pm on Fri & Sat.
3. The Cove - Opens for lunch and dinner from 11.30am to 11pm.
The buffet breakfast is served at Treetops. After breakfast hours, this restaurant serves Indonesian cuisine. I had dinner and lunch at Saffron and The Cove respectively during my stay here. The former serves Thai cuisine, while the latter offers modern European cuisine. Each main course meal, excluding drink at either of these restaurants costs about SGD50 (USD37) per person.
If you are feeling the hunger pangs at night, you will be pleased to know that there is a 24 hrs room service offered by the hotel. However, if you are just craving for snacks, instant noodles and drinks, you would need to take a 15 mins walk to get to the nearest mini mart located at Cassia Bintan.
There are two outdoor pools in the resort, namely Rock Edge Pool and Beach Pool. I prefer swimming at the Rock Edge Pool as it is more tranquil with lesser guests. The opening hours for both pools are from 0800hrs to 1800hrs.
The resort spa is open from from 9am to 11pm. To avoid disappointment, I would recommend booking the services online in advance, which I had done so.
The accepted payment modes for the accommodation, spa, dining and retail services at this resort are IDR and bank cards.
There is no ride-hailing service (Grab or Gojek) in Bintan. You would need to arrange a local taxi to bring you around the island for your sightseeing trips and seafood meals in the kelong restaurants. The nearest kelong restaurant is Kelong Restaurant Nirwana, located about 6km away. I had booked a taxi which costs SGD25 for a return trip. The journey takes about 15 mins for each way. Yes, the drivers in Bintan accepts SGD for payment.
Despite operating for 28 years here, Banyan Tree Bintan has aged well, like a bottle of fine wine. What’s most commendable is the resort’s first-class service. Every staff is smiley and offers a friendly greeting each time they meet you. It has been a wonderful stay here!

Had a one night stay with my family at the villa (We hope we had stayed a few more nights!). My kids (4 year old and a 6 year old) loved the villa esp with the bathtub and the outdoor pool. They were so thrilled with the buggy rides which bring us from one location to another. I would like to compliment the buggy driver - Gideon who was so considerate to offer to clean my kids' oil stained hands and legs which they got from the beach. The boys enjoyed his company (managed to get him almost most of our buggy rides during our stay) and he was more than happy and patient to answer my kids' endless questions. Had dinner at the Cove which was an pleasant experience. Highly recommend the seafood soup and the Foie Gras.
A good relaxing trip for the family. Do bring your own snacks though as the selection is limited and can be expensive at the resort. Other than that, highly recommend for one to stay at the Banyan Tree Resort.

We had a short break in Bintan and unfortunately could enjoy this stunning resort for a few days only.
While the beach and the surrounding waters are not worth the trip, I can’t praise enough the quality of the hotel.
Everything we could wish for was catered by the amazing staff and our Ocean view infinite pool Villa was perfect in every way. The greatest private pool ever with beautiful ocean views made our stay memorable.
It’a not a new property so expect some minor issues such as an outdated bathroom or not so fluffy towels: maybe here and there villas are showing their age and could benefit from additional maintenance but this didn’t affect our stay.
We dined at several on-site restaurants and they were excellent; in-villa bbq is a must and I strongly suggest you to splurge on it.
A free late check-out was offered by the management and, since our villa had to be made up for the next clients, we were moved to an adjacent one, without any additional costs: a nice touch which was greatly appreciated.
The staff we met was above any expectations and they really were the icing on the cake: bravo to them all.
We would enthusiastically come back and highly recommend this property.

Last time we came here was a year and we thought we would make this an annual weekend getaway. Sadly, in a year it withered away much. We didn’t recall that it was this bad.
I like Banyan Tree and decided not to post the horrible photos mentioned below. But anyway, here’s my comments:
1. The room we received (which was with the infinity pool) had two bedrooms - for only both of us. Nope, they didn’t offer another room even though we were willing to stay in a smaller room.
2. The pool was murky and dirty with sediments and it seemed the filter didn’t work.
3. One of the bedrooms (the one they prepared for us) had faulty aircons and the room was worn. Floor coming apart.
4. The tubs are dirty.
5. The bathroom and shower has very slow pressure.
6. Breakfast selection is minimum compared to Ko Samui, Danang and Phuket.
7. The toilet choked on its own and got stuck in the morning.
Service is friendly but tardy. They didn’t deliver or send items we asked till we asked again. The f&b options are limited and not delicious.
As we travel fairly frequently, I think, our expectations are pegged with other similar establishments in similar locations in Asia with similar prices.
For SGD$1000 per night, I would have preferred we stayed in Singapore and stayed at the raffles hotel instead.
Note: We just recently stayed at Danang Banyan Tree in Jan. And this is really disappointing. Spend your money in the other Banyan Tree for a little more. It’s far more worth it.

I purchased a gift certificate back in 2021 for a stay in Banyan Tree Bintan and they very kindly extended the validity of the voucher due to the pandemic. I was finally able to redeem the voucher for a trip in August 2022.
We were picked up from the ferry terminal by a private car and warmly greeted by the driver before being driven to the resort which was a 15 minutes drive away.
Upon arriving at the resort, the staff welcomed us with a local tea and patiently guided us through the check-in process. As we were early, the staff informed us that the room would only be ready in about 2 hours. They then arranged a buggy to bring us to the neighbouring Cassia for lunch.
When we returned from lunch, we were informed that the room was ready. A buggy ferried us to our room which was very spacious and luxurious. However, the view from the outdoor area was partially blocked by trees. We asked if we could change to another room and Mr Sandro, the manager very kindly upgraded us to another villa with a beautiful view of the sea.
Throughout our stay at Banyan Tree Bintan, the staff never failed to greet us with a warm smile. We also had a WhatsApp number we could contact for any requests ranging from the booking of a buggy, making reservations at the restaurants or spa, and even making bookings for activities outside of the resort. The team was always very responsive and helpful to all the requests that we made.
The room itself was clean, spacious, and welcoming. You are advised to keep your food inside the room as there are monkeys outside and you can expect geckos to come in the room occasionally. All these are part of the experience of living in within the rainforest and insect repellent was also readily available at our request.
The resort also offers a turndown service which includes the burning of a mosquito coil. It’s the little attention to details like this that show how much a place cares for their guests.
Overall, I had an amazing stay at Banyan Tree Bintan and I would like to thank Mr Sandro and his team for taking care of us. They never failed to provide top-notch service to our many requests and genuinely seemed happy to provide a memorable experience for their guests. I would definitely recommend Banyan Tree Bintan for their outstanding service and hospitality.

We had an overall great stay but there were a few points which would need improvement:
-the food in the restaurants: the quality of the food is quite poor. Prices are very high for such an average quality. We were really disappointed with the food we had in all the restaurants (didnt try the Cove as prices were definitely too high for basic dishes).Examples:the coffee at breakfast is boiled, the butter does not taste good, the tea is Dilmah which is a pretty low quality brand one wouldnt expect to find in a 5 star resort.
-even though we have noticed there were people cleaning the front beach, there were a lot of rubbish alongside the whole stretch of the beach, almost buried in the sand. All trash should be removed. We, as well as most of the customers, love to walk on the beautiful beach but frankly, out of the 4 days we spent there, we only walked on the beach one time. Such amount of trash was not inviting and definitely not in line with the hotel environmentally friendly policy.
-we had our son sleeping on the day bed which was perfect but we would have liked him to have a mosquito net installed. There were a few bugs and we would all have felt better if he was "protected" like we were.
On a more positive note, the staff was very friendly, everyone was nice and helpful. We asked to change our villa upon arrival as ours didn't have the view we were hoping for and the staff managed to help us and even offered a choice between a couple of villas! The resort itself is beautiful and it is very peaceful which was perfect for us!

I had a very pleasant surprise to find the bed meticulously laid out with a birthday wish for me using palm tree leaves to form the words upon checking in to my room. And later on, a birthday cake was sent to my room. It absolutely made my day! The BT staffs are cheerful and friendly everywhere you meet them at the resort. When I discovered the blind was missing at the bathroom window, I brought it up to the attention of front desk manager Mr Sandro Simanjuntak, he was very concerned and immediately swung into action to have the blinds fixed up. Thanks Mr Simanjuntak.
Overall, the stay at BT resort had been pleasant and memorable. My room has a beautiful seaview.

I've booked 5 Oceanview Infinity Pool Villa(2 Bedrooms). 1 of the villa is NOT according to the booking. We complained, because they gave us Oceanview Infinity Pool Villa (1 bedroom), which for the other room they SETTING it to looked like a bedroom, by combining 2 lazy chair to become a king size bed & covered the lazy chair matrass w/ bedsheet (which is not a five star & not comfy for sleep as it is very thin layer) & because I've paid for the 2 bedroom villa for all my booking. Just for your heads up for staying in Banyan tree Bintan, kindly check whether your ORGINAL booking is the same accordingly. Because what happened to my Original booking was, I've booked thru travel agency & paid for 5 villa's (2 bedrooms), but in Banyan reception after I've complaint & wanna checked my booking, they showed me different booking which 4 villas (2 bedrooms) & 1 villa (1 bedroom) which is not my original booking. It happened also to my other group of friends booking at the same time, they've booked for 3 villa's (2 bedrooms). 1 of the villa also been given 1 bedroom & lazy chair setting as bed. please just double check your villa! because the staff will said (each villa have different owner, that's why each villa's has a different style, which is ??? because as y'all know, Banyan tree is owned by 1 (banyan tree holdings). However, there's 1 good staff at taking care of us. Thank you & hope Banyan tree will improve the services.

The best part of Banyan Tree was by far, the resort staff. Even before starting our holiday, they were prompt in replying our emails and attending to our queries and requests. The check in process was chaotic, due to higher than usual number of guests checking out after a Singapore public holiday but that was the only minor hiccup in our experience. Every single staff was polite and welcoming to us throughout our stay, always greeting us with sincerity and warmth. The concierge was also easily accessible via Whatsapp and they attended to us promptly and kindly each time. Honestly everyone deserved praise in their service delivery but special mentions to Sam who drove us on the buggy a few times, the spa staff (truly amazing massages), Sandro and Soffyan as well as the pool staff who warned us about the jellyfish at the beach and escorted us all the way to Angsana for the shared pool.
We had made a few special requests, including moving our in-villa dining to the restaurant, as well as preparing a birthday surprise, which they went above and beyond in accommodating to. They really made the dining experience special, with beautiful decor, delicious food and attentive service from waiter Sendy (I hope I got his name right). This is highly recommended if you’re looking for a dinner on a special occasion. Special mention to restaurant manager Ronal who assisted with the arrangements and checked in on us the day after. The birthday surprise was also unlike any other experience we’ve had at a hotel. The decor was beautifully done by the housekeeping staff and they even waited for us to return to sing the birthday song!
The service from the staff was so world-class that we didn’t mind that the food was overpriced, and that the resort facilities were not very well maintained (e.g. rusty restaurant tables, in-villa mini pool that looked like it could do with a good scrubbing) or closed altogether (only one of the two pools within the resort was available for use). Thanks Banyan Tree Bintan for the exceptional service and wonderful stay!

Dear Plsticflower, Thank you for your comment and taking the time to post. We are indeed very proud of our associates and your praise reinforces that they very professional and hospitable – the team and our unique location are indeed the key assets of Banyan Tree Bintan. Unfortunately the natural and open Balinese style of our villas as well being in the middle of the rainforest poses a challenge for the upkeep. Let me also assure you that we have a rigorous maintenance program and would like to extend my sincere apologies for not meeting your expectation. At the same time I am glad that you have left with positive memories. Cordially, Alpha Eldiansyah Area General Manager

We stayed for one week at Banyan Tree in Bintan in an Infinity Pool Villa 2 bedrooms and it was a perfect place to relax. Special thanks to Sofyan who was so attentive with us, Edi and his staff took care of our villa with so many details and the housekeeping team (Lilik David and Ali).
The only thing that can be changed is the price for the food, restaurants are expensive.

Please ask the hotel directly. They are so friendly and helpful. Greetings, Jette
Not sure the hotel will allow 4 people in a one bedroom villa. I would check with them on their occupancy policy. 13 and 16 would probably be pushing the limit.
The larger pool villas are 2 bedroom and that would not be an issue.
For the room size, it is on the larger size, there is a day bed usually at the window but they would need to bring in another bed. So it might be tight.
Sorry, no idea but you can contact directly with the management, who are really helpful.
