The staff here are so friendly and make me feel very warm. The reception, servers of each restaurant and the therapist from spa all offer excellent service to me and my family. And the room is quite big.
When the hotel found out it was my birthday, they went all out to celebrate it with me. ( I was even serenaded by the housekeeping team after dinner complete with flowers and cake). Truly a wonderful place that can make your special day even more special!
Wonderful and very nice staff, marvellous food , peace and tranquility in a very dedicated spa. Lovely villa with beautiful pool and stunning sunsets , and a nice view over the immaculate 18holes gokf course. A memorable holiday.
We booked the best and biggest suite they have, because I’ve always loved Banyan Tree properties, and I swear by them regardless of which property I stay at. Banyan Tree Bintan, however, changed my mind. And I am now extra cautious about the Banyan Tree branding, knowing that not all Banyan Tree are that good. And in fact some are pretty bad. Let’s get the elephant out of the room first – the property is old and pretty rundown. But that’s not the issue I have with it. I booked this property knowing the age of the property. It’s the service that we get, and this starts way before we checked in. My birthday, my wife’s birthday, and our wedding anniversary happens over 3 consecutive days. And we call this our triple celebration. And because it is the most important stay of the year, because we can only pick one place to celebrate instead of three places, we picked our most trusted Banyan Tree brand. We booked the biggest Suite they have – the 2 bedroom ocean villa with private pool, at about S$1300 per night, for two nights, spanning the three days. During reservations, I asked for a birthday cake on the night of my wife’s birthday, and another on the second night which is my birthday. They replied, that they can only give one complimentary cake, and the second one would be chargeable at $20. I thought that was quite calculative of them, but I think S$20 is small money to fuss over, so I let this rest. They asked for the words to appear on the cake, and I gave them my wife’s name. On the actual night of my wife’s birthday, there was no cake. I had to call the front desk to ask about it, then they sent one down, a generic one with no names. Clearly, they have forgotten about it. Even if reservations team didn’t convey this special occasion to the housekeeping/fnb, at least the front desk should notice it from our passports as we checked in. There were more issues relating to service – the buggy service that never arrived, fnb at the restaurants, and housekeeping that repeatedly knocked on our door for a good 10 minutes after they were done clearing other parts of the villa. Of course ultimately we had to wake up to either give them the tip or tell them to leave, before we can get back to sleep. I had wished they have the software (service and people) to make up for the hardware (aging property), but unfortunately it was a trip we didn’t enjoy, despite already booking the best villa category they have.…
Took a 1 hour ferry from Tanah Merah to Bintan, opt for the Emerald class. Get lounge access and priority in boarding/ disembarking. Contacted Banyan Tree to arrange for car pickup, had to pay IDR 175,000 per car per way. Ride to resort is 15 mins, 4 km away. Banyan Tree has all the exclusiveness and nice villas. Villas were old though, we had the ocean villa on the rock that comes with outdoor jacuzzi. However, the jacuzzi was dirty and had algae in it. As our villa was on the rocks, We could hear waves crashing onto the rocks, it’s loud but we could sleep. There were also millipedes falling from the roof due to old roofs, definitely needs to be renovated. We had a few falling onto our beds. We didn’t get bitten by any mosquitoes even though we are in the jungle. Plenty of insect repellent were provided. Toothbrushes, hair dryer were provided. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash too. Nice and clean towels too. They also provided beach slippers which I highly recommended to use if you are going to the beach. There’s tar on the beach which was washed up by the waves and I stain my feet and slippers. They were very difficult to remove and I had to throw away my slippers. Beds were comfy and there’s a large day bed and it could be converted into a bed by just laying bedsheets and pillows. Had to pay additional USD 121 per night. Not worth paying but we had 2 boys 8 and 5 years old. Bed size was around queen size and could fit both of them nicely. Resort staff were very friendly and warm. They remember our preference, our names and our schedule. Proper communication and very prompt service. Banyan Tree had 3 in house restaurants Thai, Mediterranean and Indonesia food. Each meal costing us around SGD $150 per meal for our family. We could also walk over to Cassia Bintan for western food. All restaurants have children menu available. There was also 24 hours room service. Their spa was one of the best we had, service was top notch and felt really relaxed. Paid Sgd $170 for 90 min massage. Definitely will return if they could fix the millipedes issue.…
A top of the chart property with best of the views and facilities. The restaurants are out of the world and hospitality is par excellence. The spa experience was like an icing on the cake.. Will surely come back again. It’s a jewel which is very underrated and only an hour away from Singapore.
Very friendly and warm staff. Our stay was amazing. Catered to my kids food allergies. Amazing experience at spa to rejuvenate. Excellent golf course. Must try atv, kids would love it. Thank u to Sofyan, Yudi, and all the staff.
All places are romantic. Golf courses are so scenic. I have been totally satisfied with this resort. All staffs are very friendly with smile. Especially, Sofyan is so kind everytime we meet! Thanks a lot :)
Property is old and run down. It is not well maintained. Many of the switches in my villa wasnt working. The chairs and sofa cushion look old and dirty. Make me wonder if there are bugs. We see several cockroaches inside the villa. The food at all the restaurants were expensive and below average. I would say this is a below 3 star hotel/villa. The only 5 star is the service staff and the spa.
Resort staff are so accommodating and well-trained… even restaurant staff are all so observant of your needs. Would like to thank Mr Sofyan for his hospitality. There were also a couple of drivers whom I didn’t manage to get their names, who were really hospitable. I really like that we didn’t have to queue for custom clearance too. It’s my second visit and I’m quite sure there will be more.
