Secret Island Resort is tucked away on Gili Gede just off the island of Lombok near Sekotong. It isn't terribly easy to find. The local boats will take you there for 20K per person from a boat launch found on Google Maps called "Gili Layar Transport". Peter (American) and Titin (Indonesian) run the accommodation and provide fairly basic service. Peter...

My partner and I visited and stayed at Secret Island Resort March 2017 for 2 x nights in the over water bungalows. We had lost track of time, and arrived 1 day earlier than expected. Peter the host was however more than accommodating for our early arrival. We were lead up to the reception/restaurant area where Peter explained the Resorts...

This place is perfect for adventure seekers wishing to get away from it all. The bungalows over the reef are made from reclaimed teak wood and full of character. Be aware that you only have electricity after 18.00ish and fresh water is limited. You can buy extra buckets for a small fee. Actually, this only added to the experience as...

Me and my boyfriend stayed 2 nights in Secret Island resort. After reading the reviews we hesitated a bit but luckily we are well aware that some reviewers just like to complain and exaggerate. If you are looking for a brand new, modern, 5* resort this place might not be what you are looking for but if you like a...

The staff is friendly, the owner is always in for a talk, the food is good and the place is uniquely beautiful. This place is for people who love beauty instead of prefab luxury. It's not a 5-star resort, build by rich investors to come and profit from the tourist business; it's rather a place that cares about the community,...

Awesome rooms right over the reef. Wake up in the morning and dive into the water with a thousand fish and bright blue star fish. The rooms are really funky made from reclaimde wood and interesting artifacts. Highly recommended.

We absolutely loved staying in the bungalows over the reef. Being off the grid on a remote island was the perfect recharge. Siti and her crew were the sweetest and so friendly. The food was the best! The vegetables n fish in coconut was to die for. We enjoyed playing pool in the evenings with a beer before dinner. They...

We stayed here for 3 nights, not expecting the place to be in such rustic condition, but once you accepted this condition the place was comfortable to relax in, like the main building had a pool table and great music every evening. We had some of our best fun and laughs playing pool eating reasonable priced tasty food, and we...

The best thing about this place is that it's quite easy to escape from. I really regret that I hadn't checked the reviews about it. And I can not imagine who has written these few positive ones. The beach? No beach in a common sense, just some sqare meters of sand covered by garbage that probably come from thae mainland...

Titin J, Owner at Secret Island Resort, responded to this review

Hello Kris, We apologize for your lack of satisfaction. Secret Island Resort from January 16 until Feb 16 is running on our skeleton staff. Meaning we normally have our primary manager and manager Pak Adi and his highly well reviewed wife Siti the restaurant manager. But until Feb 16, because of the death of Titin's father they are absent and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Secret Island Resort is a Eco friendly small resort with a very good small beach in front. We are slowly rising up to a 3 star quality hotel in a 5 star location. There are now 7 units with solar hot water and now there are 2 'Bungalows over the reef' available. These are stable units attached to a dock within easy walking distance to the Restaurant and lounge. These two bungalows over the water are the only ones in either Lombok or Bali. The snorkeling is great nearby and the fishing is still good to. SIR operates a 9 meter sport fishing boat called 'Scorpio' that is very good for touring the 12 South west gilis and snorkeling to. ... more   less
