Our family toured Israel for a couple of weeks this summer, beginning in the north and working our way south. Our second stop was in Akko (also known as Acre). Our guide, Motti Zaken had recommended the small boutique Akkotel Hotel http://www.akkotel.com/ located in the walls of the old city. Although it doesn't look like much from the outside, it's...

This hotel, built directly into the walls of the old city of Akko, has been fabulously designed to capture the essence of the city while feeling comfortable and modern and clean. The hotel staff is very, very friendly, engaging and helpful. They are all knowledgable about the area and interesting things to do and see. Breakfast was excellent.

I stayed at the Akkotel a few times on business travel, and loved it so much - so now coming back with family again. I had a room that wasn't as big but perfect for my needs. All was spotlessly clean, the room was well fitted with everything needed, air con was blasting cool (which is pretty important in the...

We had two rooms at this charming hotel right in the centre of the old city of Akko for two nights in mid-July 2012. The family who runs it is extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. The rooms are spotlessly clean; one was larger than the other but even the smaller one was adequate (not especially beautiful, but certainly good enough)....

Our stay was great in every way. The place is loaded with historic charm. The room was very comfortable and roomy. Both the people at the front desk were very helpful in finding and giving information. We needed a pharmacy and they helped. Train service was down when we left and they fond alternatives. Highly recommended.

I stayed at this hotel for two weeks, the owners were very helpful and also the staff. The hotel is unique due to it being built into the wall of the old Acre city.
