It's painful to watch a hotel which could have a solid 3-star rating undermining itself, but that's just what occured to our tour group which stayed at the Inbar on the evening of November 12, 2017, a Saturday night.

Nice hotel in a nice modern town. Clean, tidy, friendly helpful staff & only a 30 min drive from the dead sea. I would stay here again. Plenty of parking across the street & within a very short walk of shops restaurants & a small...More
We wanted an overnight stay near the Dead Sea and this hotel was a perfect choice for us as we did not want to pay the extortionate rates charged by the Hotels situated right on the Dead Sea. It is a good value hotel in...More
We stayed here two nights. What strikes one on entering the reception area is its rather small size. Our group of 25 arrived with our bags and there was scarcely room to budge!

The bed was very comfy. It is an older hotel but clean. No bread at breakfast even though Passover was finished. Overall the breakfast was really lacking. Did not enjoy it at all. It was surprisingly quiet as well.

The road 3199 from Arad to the western side of Massada is the shorter way to Massad and will take about 25 minutes - it is narrow, windy and not very forgiving but if you drive it carefully there is no reason why you should not use it.
3199 takes you to the car park on the Western side of Massada and the trail head of the Roman Ramp path which is the shorter and easier hike up to Massada and that takes about 20 minutes depending on your fitness level. It still involves a pretty steep ascent on a dirt path with lots of steps.
The museum, visitor's center and conveniency stores on the eastern side of Massada are not accessable from the summit unless you go down by foot or cable car but you can easily choose to take the cable car down and then back up to the top before walking back to your car at the trail head.
There is no easy way from the West to the East (or the other way) but that that crosses the summit of Massada. Although distances on the map may look small do not under estimate the distance and difficulty of any hikes in this region.
Depending on where you plan to go after your visit to Massada 3199 could be a good plan. If you are planning on heading to the Dead Sea, or via the Dead Sea, after your visit to Massada then 3199 is the poorer option.
