When you bring together fascinating history and advanced architecture, pair them with exclusive and thrilling hospitality and set them against the breathtaking scenery of the Sea of Galilee – you arrive at the Sofia Hotel. A new spa and leisure hotel situated in an exquisite historic stone house dating to the end of the 19th century. If walls could speak, they would surely relate stories about a glorious past and famous leaders of the city’s community. The Sofia Sea of Galilee Hotel is located in the heart of Tiberias, a few minutes’ walk from the city center and the Sea of Galilee.

Detailed Reviews
Here we are at the Sophia hotel in Tiberias Israel and it's a hotel that's been recently updated, at least in the dining room and the guest rooms.
They are modestly appointed but you need to be sure and bring your own washrags and hand towels because they're not provided.
The Buffet in the dining room is nice but not overly extensive and the food is good but it's nothing compared to Herods in Herzaliyah. The surroundings around the hotel. It's a really rough looking area but inside the hotel it's fine.

Modern and clean. A few things left to be desired.
First the good:
The hotel is clean and modern. Check in and check out was a breeze. They have private and free on-site parking which was nice. The room was large by Israeli standards and rhe bathroom was huge by those same standards. The towels and items in the bathroom were plentiful and of good quality.
The not so good:
The bedding was only so so and the beds themselves were streight up aweful. They were two singles shoved together as is common in many Israeli hotels in religious areas. And they were hard as a brick. Breakfast was also just so so by Israeli standards (still very good by US standards) and was quite a bit shorter (7 AM To 10:30 as apposed to 6 AM To 11:00 as in most). The pool, which was beautiful) was also unfortunately closed for the season. Staff was nice. Not sure if I will stay here again.

Worst service from the evening manager and food and beverage manager!
We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon after a two-hour drive, we got a room, and we wanted to shower and get ready for dinner...and when we entered the shower it was very dirty, we asked to clean it, but the evening manager ignored us and did not speak to us, and the food and beverage manager spoke in a disrespectful manner in Te language and not in a good way. We went to eat dirty, sweaty and nervous.
Must mention! that the reception representative and the other hotel employees gave a caring, courteous and pleasant service.
May the managers learn from the employees to provide service!

Reception staff very rude. The prices shown on the spa web does not match the actual prices. The bar on the pool was closed even at 12 o’clock and when asking the reception guy, he yelled on the phone!!!!

Took a risk on booking a hotel in August but it was so worth it.
Arrived to the city of Tiberias, had a list of things to visit around the lake such as Golan hights, Jordan river and at the end of our journey we arrived to the hotel. We came after all the check ins so hotel’s parking was full so the security guy showed us a nearby free parking 1 minute by foot. The hotel is alive , beautiful architecture old meets new, friendly staff, food was great, room brand new and clean and the view is amazing see pictures. Will definitely return

From the moment we arrived the staff of this hotel couldn’t be less interested in our stay. We had three large suitcases and there was a flight of steps down to enter. Door person watched us navigate it without a word (including opening the door). Next up, reception where multiple times through our stay they made a point to be dismissive and rude. One male in particular was flat out awful.
The room is average and overpriced.
If I’m going to find a positive, the bathroom had been redone and water pressure was lovely.
In my opinion, do a day trip from Jerusalem and skip this hotel and city.

We stayed here for 3 days on a half board basis. The check in process was seamless. Our room was quite spacious but cleanliness was not up to the mark. I found floss, and a couple small items under the sink. Our used coffee cups were not rinsed and used glasses were not taken away. We had to place these outside the room after which they were cleared. Breakfast buffet had plenty of selections and variety. Dinner offering was limited on couple days due to Passover. Property has adult pool and kiddie pools with great views of the Sea of Galilee.
Roof top bar offers great views of the city.

I am a tour operator for seniors @ EasyIsraelTours.com bringing discerning, mature travellers. Our expectations are high and insist on good food, service and comfort. Sofia hotel is our favourite hotel in the Galilee over the last few years. Welcoming, organised. Will fix any challenges asap. Very clean. Great food. Love the rooftop bar and lounge, especially in the evening and early morning. Stunning views of the Sea of Galilee with sunsets and dawns. We are booked into Sofia for the next two years. I recommend Sofia to you!

Stayed at the Sofia hotel in Tiberius with my family for two nights. We had an incredible stay! The hotel is beautifully designed and clean. The meals at the hotel were delicious and abundant. The only downside was that we couldn’t use the pool due to anticipation of cold weather. Eva took care of our every need and did an amazing job making sure we had everything we needed. She is an asset to the hotel!
