The food at the Dona Gracia Hotel was varied, plentiful and tasty. At the evening meal there was always a choice of fish, poultry or meat. At the breakfasts there were abundant choices as well - pancakes, cheeses, fish, etc.
I truly enjoyed my visit to this unique hotel/museum. The atmosphere was pleasant. Everything was clean and neat.
The hotel is friendly with 24-hour reception. An important detail, in a region with a high incidence of sunlight and intense heat - the coverage makes the climate mild.
The hotel does not deserve its rating. We were greeted at the entrance steps with the carcass of a chicken which was still there when we left 3 days later, the main door had been locked and a side door was used and this had a handwritten notice to only use this door.
The large lobby area was very dark and we only saw the lights used on one occasion. Windows were filthy, obviously not cleaned for a long time...perhaps years. The two lifts were shabby and their floors needed refurbishing, they looked worn out.
Our room was no. 413, a twin room and ensuite bathroom. The window was so dirty I thought that there was a mosquito net covering it on the outside......no! It was grime. The bed linen was clean but the sheet hardly covered the mattress and every morning I found I was sleeping on the bare mattress, UGH! How many others had done the same!
The room had been vacuumed but very superficially, the nozzle had not reached the corners and it was clear that although the bathroom had been mopped but never really cleaned. A build up of grime on the perimeter of floor tiles and cornice needed a "proper" thorough clean. There were handles missing off the dressing table drawers.
Room had a flat screen TV which had a selection of channels, and there was a fridge which was essential for this time of year when
outside temperatures reach 30c.
Meals were all buffet style and sufficient but not inspiring, the deserts served on the first evening reappeared for the next two nights.
Staff were OK but there were few that spoke English.
Searching the internet for a similar break I found several hotels nearer the seafront at cheaper prices and with better feedback.
The hotel needs to clean up its act!
We had not looked at any of the reviews until today and I am wondering who they were evaluating?
We were met by the desk man, Shimshon, who was & continues to be as helpful as possible!
The night man at the desk found a Story-teller to give us a FANTASTIC 4 hour tour of Tiberius which as I stated was Fantastic! The night man was named David and I believe he really went above and beyond to help us get the best tour he could.
We returned after our walking along the water this afternoon and Igor was there at the desk and like all others has been very very helpful.
From the men at the desk to the ladies cleaning the room to the waitstaff, not to mention the wonderful breakfast DONA GRACIAS has been a real fine!
Thank you for being here for us!

The rooms, whilst they look a bit dated, were perfectly comfortable and quiet. The air conditioning and free wifi worked well, and each room had a fridge which was useful. We were able to borrow hairdryers from reception.
The food was good - fresh and varied - and the dining room was set up for large tour groups but never felt too busy. There was no bar available in the hotel but free tea and coffee was provided each evening.
Dona Gracia was an excellent base for part of our Holy Land tour and I would definitely return.
However there are few things that you have to take into account. First, the bathrooms are not so nice, the curtain of the shower was kind of filthy, the shower place all by all seemed to me very poor and old. There was not toilet paper in the room and the windows were really filthy, very dusty and really not cleaned for more than 2-3 years. You could not even look outside of how dirty they were, at least the side where I had my room on. We had to ask for toilet paper since there wasn't any when we arrived. We were lucky to have with us some napkins ! I don't know what kind of floors they have but the floor of the room above me was kind of very squeaky, every time the people above me were walking in the room I could hear a very strange annoying noise. The same holds true for the fridge in the room. I think I had the room 201, but I'm not sure, anyway was near the elevators on the first floor. If you need just a bed to sleep and a good food and you're not too picky then you might feel very comfortable there.
"most complained about having a flooding their room because they dint have a tub in their bathroom."Read full review
