This was meant to be a special night at a luxury spa hotel for my birthday and our anniversary, booked by our family to spoil us. They and we are disappointed by our experience at this hotel. Where to start? Upgraded balcony room - although the pool and garden area looked very nice, unfortunately our room was at the far end of the hotel and instead had a view over a service road and a rubbish dump instead (see photo). In the morning, there was a maintenance truck and 2 workmen directly in our line of sight to 'greet' us. We had to sidle into the room, as it has a very unwelcoming, narrow entry corridor. And the bathroom has no real door, only a sliding door that doesn't actually close on either side, so all noise from the bathroom is heard as if it's in the room itself. Prepare to be woken by the sound of the toilet flushing as if it's next to your head. Welcome snacks - a minibar bottle of ouzo, some broken breadsticks and nuts in knotted plastic bags (see photo). Really?? The hotel and restaurant bombarded me with emails, Whatsapp messages and SMSs in the days before we arrived. While it was helpful to do online check-in in advance, to send me an online checkout link to fill in as soon as we arrived, asking me about my experiences at the hotel was ridiculous, and made us feel like they wanted us out already! Restaurant - As soon as we arrived for dinner we were greeted by a horrible cacophony of noise, unbearable. The music was being played at full volume, but it was more than that, it was an unpleasant assault on the eardrums. Another guest was taking the hostess around the restaurant surveying other diners about their reaction to the noise, and everyone told her it was horrible. We were all informed that the concept of the restaurant is noise and that's how it's supposed to be! The fact that we were all suffering wasn't relevant. In other words, the customer is always wrong here. As for the food, the waiter let me order both a main course and dessert that weren't available. He was clueless, and didn't seem bothered about disappointing the diners. What we ate was ok, but we couldn't enjoy it, and couldn't wait to just get out of there. Breakfast - I was sent a reservation confirmation for a breakfast booking from 10-11:30 (see photo). The website says breakfast is served to the table. We were seated, curtly informed 'today is a buffet' and then within 5 minutes, were told that the kitchen is closing, and breakfast ends at 10:30. Our plates and all the food at the buffet were then swept away. Oh, and if you want to go to the spa, and haven't booked a (very expensive) massage, you have to pay extra! On top of the exorbitant room price (over $500 a night B&B). Lounge area looked nice, with lots of couches but unfortunately it wasn't possible to sit there after dinner, as the noise from the restaurant was SO loud, that it made it impossible to sit and relax. I would like to add that my husband has independently written his own review, and I haven't seen what he wrote, but I can say that we both felt that the best part of our stay was when we left.

Galei Kinneret is trying to pretend it is a high end luxury spa resort hotel, that overpromises and underdelivers. At this price range there is simply a higher expectation on service, room quality, and overall experience and this was a fail. The only real positive point is the outdoor area. The pool, surrounding sitting areas and the Kinneret backdrop are beautiful and well designed and pleasant. Didnt go into spa, but always find it objectionable to have to pay for spa entrance when a guest at a hotel. The actual problems are within the hotel itself. The hallways and room furniture were worn, looking shabby. Our corner balcony room had the most ridiculous design of a bathroom door that slides open next to the room door and hallway. Beds, couches, carpet had stains, burns and not particularly comfortable bed or couch. Welcome gifts for a birthday/anniversary celebration was a couple of broken bread sticks, a mini bottle of foreign Ouzo and some chocolates. However, the biggest problem was the Assaf Granit restaurant. Yes his food and restaurants are fantastic, BUT execution failed on implementation/adaption and service. The Galil, Kinneret, Jesus country, pastoral plains, wine country, tranquil, spa, luxury hotel clash highly with his concept . The lobby area was flooded with the noise created intentionally by blaring music volume to recreate Machane Yehuda Market at 10pm on a mid-week night in Tiberias. What the F!#$%$%&? Dinner - While in the lobby noise was bad, in the restaurant, it was unbearable. Diners complained, even one gentleman did a table survey, coercing the hostess/manageress to join him as he canvassed each table, and prove to her that the guests were suffering. The staff as they do in Israel, opening gambit is that the customer is always wrong. They argued as part of the "Machane Yehuda" group decibel levels cannot be lowered. They acquiesced to this gentleman's request for a few minutes, but very quickly jacked up the volume again for the 12-14 poor guests , many who travelled 2 hours to the quiet Galil from Tel Aviv to only be thrust right back into a Tel Aviv noisy bistro. Insane. Obviously, the food was tasty and creative as to be expected from Asaf Granit. But what is the point of being given detailed explanation of a dish, and then tempted to order, but then 5 minutes later being told its not available, If the waiter has a handheld ipad shouldn't he know not to offer unavailable dishes. This happened actually twice, both entrée and desert - from what is already a fairly small menu. Breakfast - Hoped this would be better. We were informed that it was table service in contrast to standard buffet and would be open to 11:30 AM and we booked for 10:00 AM. In short , it was a buffet, and at 10:10 , informed that kitchen was closing now so had to rush it. In short - highlight was checking out of this hotel/restaurant fiasco, yes the food is tasty, but the execution/adaption of hotel and service levels do a disservice to Assaf Granit.
